The practical aiming rate of fire for such a weapon chambered for a rifle cartridge is about 50 rounds per minute (which is very small in the realities of the pace of the game and ease of aiming). The mechanical rate of fire of self-loading is really very high, but in reality it is limited by the frequency of pulling the trigger in conditions of recoil impulses (which push you to grab the weapon harder), some effort on the trigger when placing the weapon on a combat platoon, and simply physical fatigue.

The maximum frequency of pulling the trigger without effort, recoil and accumulated fatigue (i.e., an estimate of the upper limit under the most favorable conditions, far from combat) gives a rate of fire of about 300 rpm. The current values ​​of 200 rpm for self-loading under a rifle cartridge are selected so as not to affect the effectiveness of hitting targets at a distance of more than 40 meters and slightly limit the rate of fire when aimed shooting at a distance of about 20 meters.

- Why didn’t this change affect automatic rifles?

The presence of the automatic mode removes the aforementioned limitation on the frequency of pulling the trigger. For weapons that have this mode, we set it as default. If somewhere this is not so, then this is a bug.

- Semi-automatic rifles are now “useless” when storming premises.

We strive to ensure that each class of weapons has its own niche of use.

For obvious reasons, the submachine gun was chosen as the most mobile and powerful weapon class for such situations. The self-loading rifle was considered as an extension of the rifle’s range of application, but any versatility has to be paid for by weakening the characteristics on average, therefore, self-loading rifles have a shorter “one-shot” distance in comparison with bolt-action rifles, and a lower ammunition load and rate of fire in comparison with submachine guns.

- The change drastically affected the effectiveness of VSTG 1-5 and M1 Carbine, which were missing stars from the sky before.

A key feature of these semi-automatic carbines is the need to hit the enemy at least twice in order to neutralize him.
This factor was taken into account and therefore the rate of fire for this weapon was set higher than that of self-loading under a rifle cartridge of 250 rpm. We can observe a similar rate of about 4 shots per second in modern assault rifles with a relatively low recoil momentum. But perhaps, in practice, the game of this pace is still not enough for the weapon to remain competitive at medium distances. In this case, we will increase its rate of fire to 300 rpm.

In general, we continue to systematically work on weapons in Enlisted and will be releasing other mechanic changes in an effort to make Enlisted even more interesting.

Практическая прицельная скорострельность для такого оружия под винтовочный патрон составляет порядка 50 выстрелов в минуту (что очень мало в реалиях темпа игры и удобства прицеливания). Механическая скорострельность самозарядок действительно очень высока, но в реальности она ограничена частотой нажатия на спусковой крючок в условиях импульсов отдачи (которые подталкивают схватиться за оружие крепче), некоторого усилия на спусковом крючке при установке оружия на боевой взвод и просто физической усталости.

Максимальная частота нажатия спускового крючка без усилия, отдачи и накопленной усталости (т.е. оценка верхней границы при максимально благоприятных условиях, далеких от боевых) дает скорострельность порядка 300 в/мин. Текущие значения в 200 в/мин для самозарядок под винтовочный патрон подобраны так, чтобы не влиять на эффективность поражения целей на дистанции более 40 метров и слегка ограничивать скорострельность при прицельной стрельбе на дистанции порядка 20 метров.

— Почему это изменение не коснулось автоматических винтовок?

Наличие автоматического режима снимает вышеупомянутое ограничение на частоту нажатия спускового крючка. Для оружия, у которого этот режим есть, мы выставляем его как дефолтный. Если где-то это не так - то это баг.

— Теперь полуавтоматические винтовки “бесполезны” при штурме помещений.

Мы стремимся к тому, чтобы у каждого класса оружия была своя ниша применения.

Самым мобильным и сильным классом оружия для таких ситуаций по понятным причинам был выбран пистолет-пулемет. Самозарядная винтовка рассматривалась как расширение зоны применения винтовки, но за любую универсальность надо платить ослаблением характеристик в среднем, поэтому самозарядные винтовки имеют меньшую дистанцию “ваншота” в сравнении с винтовками со скользящим затвором, и меньший боекомплект и темп стрельбы в сравнении с ПП.

— Изменение радикальным образом сказалось на эффективности VSTG 1-5 и M1 Carbine, которые и до него не хватали с неба звезд.

Ключевой особенностью данных полуавтоматических карабинов является необходимость минимум два раза поразить противника чтобы его нейтрализовать.

Этот фактор учитывался и поэтому скорострельность для этого оружия была установлена выше, чем у самозарядок под винтовочный патрон в 250 в/мин. Подобный темп порядка 4 выстрелов в секунду мы можем наблюдать у современных штурмовых винтовок со сравнительно малым импульсом отдачи. Но возможно на практике игры данного темпа все равно не хватает чтобы оружие оставалось конкурентоспособным на средних дистанциях. В этому случае мы увеличим его скорострельность до 300 в/мин.

Мы в целом продолжаем планомерную работу над оружием в Enlisted и будем выпускать другие изменения механик в стремлении сделать Enlisted ещё интереснее.
