Have swords actually got a longer melee range (and higher damage) as they are supposed to, or are they just glorified knives?

not sure what more melee damage would do since a knife is a 1 hit down anyways, and i think if you have the 100% melee damage perk you’ll have a chance to 1 shot

Does the sword unlock for all three German campaigns? Or just the one you bought it in?

I feel your pain. Didn’t get a kill with it either.
To be honest, I did forget I even had it after 1 match. Only used it once on the practice mode.

I m yet to even try them on the batlefield. I forgot I had it after I started playing normal rounds coz I had to kill 12 tanks for the next task.

I am really torn on one hand a Soviet that is a Cossacks or something with a sword feels way more authentic and I really like the Russian one, on the other I kinda want to give the German one to a von and be like “this aristocrat’s fighting with his ascnetral sword in the ruins of Berlin”

I also liked the soviet one. Trully did.
But since I m playing axis only I saw no reason besides the looks of it to go for the soviet one :confused:

Although the saber is great, no one wants to fight with a sword.I regret that I redeemed it at the Battle of Berlin. If I used it at the Battle of Moscow, I could destroy a squad.

Maybe these reward swords are also a test. Like, the devs testing out the impact on gameplay of a more powerful melee weapon, in foresight of a future implementation of a “banzai-oriented” pacific campaign?

It would make somewhat sense, but one sword is barely going to do much for such purposes.

Also, try axe… it has been here since alpha days and kills anyone with a single swing. I don´t know how more powerful than that we can get.

Probably only on the range and or how fast it stabs…

Does the 1kg vs 0.5kg weight difference from the axe to a knife matters anyhow?
Or what ever the weight was can’t recall correctly…
