Flying zone expansion

We now have jets. Yippee.
I like those… but the playing field is really unsuitable for them:

They are supposed to be extremely fast and should be able to distance themselves from other planes after a zoom…

But they cannot.

  • In Normandy, there’s a roughly 6km radius around the currently coveted cap zone, for planes. Passed that, it’s “grey zone” where the pilot eventually dies from a stroke.

  • In Berlin it’s even worse: the flight zone is a radial 4km only! For jets! It’s akin to keeping a whale in a fish tank. Way too small.

What results is that jets, except maybe the beautiful Commonwealth one which turns on a dime, are simply not very competitive or at least, can’t be used to the full extent of their potential.

  • I propose to enlarge all maps flying radius to 8km at the very least. To allow room for real and fun flying tactics and maneuvers for all planes.

Thanks, gents.

( @Euthymia07 perhaps devs would be interested by such a forward, as it benefits all factions, all war theaters and should be relatively easy to implement)

Edit: the newest Myanmar maps, HAVE a huge flight zone of 8km (and more!) radium! Flying in this is a joy.

Yeah jets are here and i sayd in few topics we need bigger maps allso for infantry is too small i made a topic for that and suggested to have 2 options fast matches for those who wants small maps and suffer with jets and long matches for those who wants bigger maps and that we have already just delete the greyzone and have the full map size of the campaign✌️

And of course with a bit more objectives not only just caping

And someone flying a starter plane hiding somewhere far away, preventing all allies from getting into the air. Add a fuel limit for planes.

I’m not opposed to this,

But ONLY if:

There must be a way to repair/refuel. Good pilots should not be penalized.

Looking back at that post a year later, Its nice to see some of those planes added (and half a dozen more in the editor)

Not real sure when some of these were added to editor:

  • SB2C
  • Spitfire Mk IX
  • Typhoon Mk I b
  • He 111
  • B-34
  • Beaughfighter Mk VIc
  • Blenheim Mk IV

The Pacific airspawns are still unloved though

It’s too unequal in Pacific. Mostly because of the p38 being br2. Extremely fast, and spawns in the air…

It was fine during the campaign because all planes available spawned on the carriers, so it was equal and fun for both sides.

Airfields would solve so much…

I don’t have a problem with boom zooming. Though, a fly zone increase would be nice.

Berlin is brutal while flying my fully upgraded Su-9. You will be flying into greyzone instantly after trying to turn (or after failing to hit ammo resupply point)

It works in Myanmar as I’ve experienced yesterday: the radius around the cap is higher than 8km!

To those having troubles vs the Meteor, well it couldn’t catch my humble Kikka. It’s a really short area to cover while in a jet, yet it allows for more maneuvers, which is great.

They should add more early and mid BR aircraft to Japan. Ki-43-II (BR I), Ki-61-I otsu (BR II), Ki-44 (BR II) so they can combat P38G/Js and P51C Then lower BR of premium Ki-61-I hei and Ki-61-II otsu kai to BR III, and add Ki-100 to replace that BR IV area.

Also, we need airfields… +1 for sure on airfields

A Ki-43-III at BR III as well

Japan is missing a decent amount of it’s fighters.

I’d start giving them a little something for CAS… their best one currently… is only a 500kg carrier with mere lmgs as guns…

Compared to stuff like:

  • Soviets br2, sweeeet Su with 6x bombs
  • Axis FIGHTER (IAR) at br2 that got an almost more potent load.
  • Allies… many bombs & rockets all around.
