Fix the Solothurn S18-100

Hello everyone, in this post I want to touch on the topic of one of the weapons of the upcoming Battle Pass. Namely the Solothurn S18-100. Despite the fact that I am far from being a German Mainer, but rather the opposite, I consider the introduction of the Solothurn S18-100 in its current form as nonsense and outright injustice. And I don’t like injustice. What are Solothurn’s problems and how to fix them? I’ll tell you in a moment.

  1. Probably the biggest problem with the Solothurn S18-100 is its BR. Seriously, it’s a 2BR anti-tank rifle and that’s probably its biggest problem. Any anti-tank rifle on 2BR makes no sense because of anti-tank grenade launchers like the bazooka or GRB. I think this is some kind of joke, players have been whining and asking for a long time to move the PTRS to 1BR where it belongs (even I got involved in this, at one time I made a post on the Russian forum about moving the PTRS to 1BR). And now developers just take and introduce a new anti-tank rifle on 2BR. It’s really not even funny. The solution to the problem is extremely simple - just move the Solothurn S18-100 to 1BR where it belongs. And this is out of the discussion

  2. As we know, Solothurn S18-100 will not be able to be fired from hand held, only from bipods. And this is a problem and a big hypocrisy at that. The developers justify it like this.

Unlike other anti-tank rifles in Enlisted, the “Solothurn” is very bulky and heavy. To use it, you have to either go prone or use its bipod.

But they forget that Japanese Type 97 anti-tank rifle weighs even more than Solothurn S18-100 and it can be fired from handheld.
Тип 97
Солотурнище
49 kg with magazine.

I see two ways to solve this problem.

  1. We remove the bipod-only mechanics from the Solothurn S18-100 and make it possible to fire the Solothurn S18-100 from hand, like the Type 97 anti-tank rifle. This will be fair and in my opinion it is the best option

  2. But there is a second option. We leave the Solothurn S18-100’s bipod-only mechanics, but add the same bipod-only mechanics to the Japanese Type 97 anti-tank rifle. And also we give the Type 97 its normal and real size, as in the game it is reduced in size to fit in the hands of a soldier.

Above is the big Type 97, and below is the one in the game.

The choice is yours, developers.

I’ve said it all.

And the type 97 it is possible to conduct automatic fire

No, you can’t fire automatically from a Type 97. Just like the Solothurn in the game cannot be fired automatically.

sorry I didn’t write that in reality)

Yeah, it’s silly when you can fire the Type 97 while standing, when that thing needed a machine gun carriage (the one with two handles: two at the front, two at the rear) for two men to carry the whole thing. I would prefer to see this rifle model in its real size, and only be fired when lying down and/or when the rifle is mounted with the bipod.
And I say that as a big japanese fan, I have completely researched the tree, even the new stuff of the latest update, I had 300k xp in stock.

I’d like to see the scope added but I don’t think they’ll do it now it’s been released.

That would actually a great way to make it special in away that would maybe even justify the limitations.

I agree with giving the type 97 the bipod/prone only as well. As it is, it’s genuinely pretty overpowered, especially when you can delete an M13 by shooting its ammo boxes which somehow counts as an ammo rack insta-kill.

No anti tank rifle can be shoulder fired realistically. So either restrictions for all or none.

False. Many can. Plenty of footage of such exists as well. It’s not like .55-57 caliber is that powerful, unlike 20mm.

Yeah, try to do that in an actual battle. You can probably also dual wield ptrs41 if you’re drunk enough so we should also have that in the game.

You’re so sure about that? Are you sure that no anti-tank rifle can be shoulder fired realistically? I don’t know about other anti-tank rifles, but firing a PTRS can be shoulder fired and it is not that unrealistic.

I’m just leave this here

Yes. This is how ptrs41 was used in WWII, precisely hitting vital components of enemy tanks while standing and running. I guess this is why ppsh41 box has ridiculous dispersion. Russians are just built differently.

If we’re going to talk about historical use, how many T20 rifles were used in WWII, how many Type Hei automatic rifles, how many AC-44 or RD-44, how many Tokyo Arsenal SMG, how many Ho-Ri. The list could go on for a long time. And another example, did every Wehrmacht soldier really have an FG-42-2? Аnd come on, it’s a video game, it has some gaming conventions.

Well, read my reply again. Restrictions for all or none. Is it still not clear that there should be no restriction? Or you just want to have another Russian privilege in the game? Clearly Su9 is not enough to silence all bs about realism.

This is exactly how it is used by many in our game

Nah, I think it’s fair for the 20mm guns. That and I want to see the real sized type 97 in the hands of tiny Japanese men. It’d be funny.

Possibly future japanese schoolgirl gorillas. Imagine.

Well, I guess we just misunderstood each other a little bit. I’m in favor of eliminating the bipod-only mechanics for Solothurn. I don’t want to introduce the same bipod-only mechanics for the Type 97. That’s what I wrote in the post.

This is exactly why no restriction should be imposed on any anti tank rifle in the game
