FG 42 makes SMG completely useless

Looks good. Now we need to fix the sniper issue. Scoped FG42 vs scoped M1 Garand both at sniper 3. Germans get scoped G43 at sniper 2 while the americans get the 1903A4

Some Fun

Keep in mind, this is what the fg42 actually was.
It was a a weapon that was a light mg, with scope a kind of semi sniper and for close range it offered full auto fire.
The fg ingame is pretty much what the weapon was.

Off course it’s not fair, I already wrote that it’s not fair

Because FG-42 ā€˜ā€˜is’’ an LMG

I agree but MP-43 will be re-added. Remember, this is still beta after all

Tbh I’m more or less fine to keep the fg42 as it is, but devs should create paratrooper squads and only paratroopers can be equipped with the fg42. From my point this would be the easiest way to limit it that not only fg42 squads will be on the field

FG-42 was meant to fill several roles not just one hybrid of sniper rifle and LMG.

Yes maybe FG 42 and Mp43 should be the weapon for assault III.

Nope, There should be own subclass for it FallschirmjƤger it was only issued to paratroopers!

personally, i have FGS but they do not replace smgs at all.

due to various reasons.

but nontheless as said in other posts,

the 3rd mortar battalion should be the only 1 being capable of using fgs. and use the yellow tech tree for the upgrades related to fgs since the mortar battalion does not use the yellow tech tree.

and lock it only for that squad.

so they are somewhat stronger, but limited to only 1 squad.

I think you guys just need to stop crying and get better. FG42 its perfectike it is right no need change.

No, it’s historically inaccurate. Only paratroopers used it, just like only backline units used the M1 or M2 Carbines. They should be limited to their respective squads.

Well the idea behind that - the historical inaccuracy - is correct. Yet it would be a humongous hypocrisy to apply this argument only in this case. How many weapons are there which are pure BS from a historical point of view? Are we at the same time complaining that a US Army unit uses USMC sniper rifles? And let us better avoid the topic of tanks.

Furthermore…did somebody actally use the fg 42 shortly before the ā€œWallsā€ patch? The accuracy already got a really noticable nerf. And with the big patch the recoil also increased and the FG in full auto is not better than the M2 carbine. Outside of small rooms it just an ammo waste and fast semi-auto fire is more effective.
I played with the FG and against it and the FG in itself is no problem. If the M1 and M2 would just get a ~20% lower vertical recoil the pros and cons would be wonderfully balanced in my personal opinion.

And the idea that a FG could replace SMGs somehow indicates to me that the person who made this statement has not so much triggertime with the FG . SMGs are by far better in doing stuff they are intended to do compared to an FG. Easy to controll in full auto or with long bursts and you can hold down the trigger for a bit above 4 seconds with a MP40 untill the mag is empty meanwhile the FG is dry after ~1.7 seconds => Even if I could I wouldn’t exchange the SMGs of my assault class with FGs. That’s a no brainer despite the 12 vs 5.7 dmg.

yes, but actually no.

you see, majority of the weapons were used. weather some of these were stricted to special units, it’s a minor details.

because those weapons, are not like the fg that can be gived to literally everyone. indipendent from the class. and that’s the main point.

Darflow moment

unfortunately, i do not own an m2 carbine. i just looted occasionally from some bodies.

i used to play the americans before the Open Beta,
but not many weapons are like the fgs.

and quite frankly, now that you bringed this up, i honestly didn’t felt the fg got nerfed ( increasing recoild ). i used it yesterday, and it’s pretty darn good.

does that mean i’m a queen in control recoil?

i don’t think so.

even a donut like me can use it.
i mean, i guess rainbow six competitive matches helped me for a bit, but…
again, i find that hard to believe.

and for that reason, doesn’t make any sense that everyone can use it.
that’s why i think to bring somewhat more firepower to the paratroopers remaining somewhat accurate, they are the only one that could use them.

you know, it would make them special as well after all.
but that’s what i think.

as said above, i don’t fully agree with his statement, but there’s a truth behind.
the FG is better than 50% of the german smgs.

and i suppose that’s where the complaining is coming from.

why should i bring smgs when i can equip them with fgs?

note that i might just be lucky, but through random bronze orders i have 10 fgs ( from 3 stars to 6 ) and 4 fgs II…

Can confirm. But somehow in the game interface, it’s still 47/20. Strange.

And that is why SMG’s have mostly dissappeared from militaries - becauses assault rifles do it better.

As someone else said - the poroblem isn’t the gun - it is that the entire German army can get it in Enlisted!! :frowning:

I believe. Even with a 5 star soldier with -40% vertical recoil it’s still unctronable unless u are in a building.

rise up your dpi :joy:

jokes aside, enlisted in my opionion it’s one of the game where has one of the lowest recoil compared to other titles.

although, some guns have more recoil than others.

( i’m looking at you sorry m1 carbine ).

but speaking seriously, i’d rather have the fg limited on the unit that could be used, instead of having insane recoil for no reason.

( like happened to smgs in moscow )

Thx for that :slightly_smiling_face:

FG42 II I believe. It’s 10 times better than FG42. It can easily get multi kills while at the same time FG42 could miss almost half of the targets(both under -40% vertical recoil).

And now tell me where the difference to the FG42 is especially if we don’t care about the ā€œstricted to special unitā€ stuff. As I see it there is exactly one difference: The FG is fine like it is while the M2 really needs a buff like ~ -15%-20% vertical recoil. If the M2 would be in a better state only a fravtion of people would complain about the FG. The M2 carbone or more so it’s current state is the problem the FG has not the FG itself.
The critique which would stay is that you can equip the FG and (a better) M2 to every infatry man as an upgrade to the semi autos. ut that is a gamedesign decission and less so a balance issue. And honestly I don’t think that Enlisted is intended to be so ā€œfarā€ on the sim side like Hell let loose where
e.g 8 bolt actions 1 MP and 1 GPMG is the goldstandard for a German squad to represent a historical composition. At least from my impression, Enlisted is intended to be somewhere inbetween WW2 CoD and more sim heavy games like Hell let loose.

M2 carbine could and would if it’s recoil would be tweaked a little bit. Probably complaints would only stop if it would be a laser but it would be more commonly used nontheless.
If this is desireable or not is a personal thing and a question of gamedesign. I am not opposed to it because I think, that especially the FG is a straighup upgrade over the G43 it’s in no way a replacement for the SMG category. The Aussault class would keep it’s job.

Did you notice that with darkflows ā€œyear matters not the exact dateā€, IS-3s would be possible in Berlin?

I’m only at 15 in the US campaign but poor roomate is done with the capaign so his account is occupied for ā€œscientifc purposesā€ from time to time ^^.
There are not many guns like the FG yes and that’s not only true for the game. It’s pretty close to what would later become known as a Battlerifle. With it’s bipod the Swiss Stgw. 57 ( SIG 510) is probably the closest to it. Therefore it actually fits as a weapon for a rifleman.

I’ve used the FG a lot prior to playing US for a bit over two weeks now but the last couple of days I again played a bit on the german side. And the gunhandling was nerfed for shure. Butnothing big in a single area but some tweaks here and there. I have the impression, that full auto is harder to manage but it wasn’t good before and is imo now just a bit worse. In semi auto the gun is…less accurate than before. Not because of more recoil but instead a little bit more deviation and more gunsway. Nothig that makes the gun bad in anyway it just feels not as shar as it used to be…a bit less easy to use. Something that brings it more in line.
does that mean i’m a queen in control recoil?

i don’t think so.
The title Queen/King of recoil control is still reserved for the person who manages to land a full MP18 mag @50m+ on a mansized target with one long full auto burst.

Fun aside - Since Enlisted has no predictable recoil pattern but a random horizontal recoilm the controllability of a gun is highly depending on the horizontal recoilvalue combine with the rate of fire.
For short bursts in close targets the FG is fine. Above 20m semi auto will always deliver the better results.
30 shots with 2-3 shots per burst at 20m:

30 shots with 2-3 shots per burst at 40m:

Aiming center mass the second shot (with some vertical recoil controll) at 20m might still hit the head further out and it will go high.

If you statement:

still stands why so, that you think it makes no sense that everyone can carry it? Is it a minor detail or not? Or is it just a mino detail for any of the other weapons but not the FG?
I personaly am not opposed at least not totally opposed to some restriction IF it would be ā€œthe rightā€ restriction. I don’t like your idea because
a) The only German para squad is the mortar squad. That’s a very subpar place for the FG. It’s so bad
fitting at this place that it would feel like putting the gun on a sidetrack to get it out of the way.
b) I am convinced, that the devs want some kind of upgrade for the standard infantrymen after the
G43/M1 Garand. If the FG gets the ā€œpara weapon only for para troopsā€ treatment they could rethink
one point or another and decide to replace it with the StG 44 instead of limiting this gun to assaults.
This would be a change to the worse.

50% ay be a bit harsh. Well at least if some of these SMGs are seen as special purpose guns. ZK-383, FNAB and also the Beretta M1918 have their niche where they can shine. While I would only use the FNAB of these three as some kind of general purpose SMG. The beretta with it’s niche as close quaters roomsweeper is probably the one where the FG is actually able to replace it as a close quaters roomsweeper. And the MP 28…it needs no FG to replace it, as soon as I got MP40s the 28s got mothballed even the 5 stars one.

Because the FG only shines where the M1918 would have it’s niche but has some serious drawbacks compared to other SMGs? If I would use a FG the way is use MP40s or the FNAB it would kill me and even if I would be on a very lucky streak I would run dry in no time.
A FG can be a substitute for a SMG but not an equally capable replacement.

Depends on how many bronze orders you’ve spent. I have 20 FGs - 14 are from silver orders and the last 6 are the result of spending somewhere between 120 and 140 bronze orders ( don’t know if it was six or seven times 20 en bloc). 10x3* 8x4* 2x5*. Dunno if you got your 6 with less bronze orders but if I would not have saved all my silver orders it would’ve been a metric shitton of grinding to rach the point everybody speaks of.
