Explosive charges should be plant-able on the sides of vehicles above the track/wheel

you should be able to run up beside tanks and hold a key for like 4 seconds to plant the explosive instead of throwing it.

it wouldn’t be too game breaking cause your teammates could take out the enemy while there planting it or if your a good enough driver you could just run the person trying to plant it over to kill em lol

Good idea!

I usually struggle as well with explosives which fall down from vehicles, often leading to my own death…

But then, in reality the packs we have in game are just explosives with timed fuse, and not special explosives with adhesives or magnets, which were used as well. Maybe such devices could be implemented as well, with maybe a higher cost.

But again, yes, a method of “placing” them instead of “trhrowing” them would certainly be a good solution.

I think it would already help if they would remove the grenade warning for tankers. It is too much of an advantage, as tankers just need to press “W” or “S” the moment they see the grenade icon and be out of danger.

But I agree with you, it would be cool if we could place the charges directly on the tank.
I hope someday in the future will get magnetic mines like H3-nades. That would be awesome!

yea i find most of the time tanks will just drive away from my explosive charge before it goes off soo recently iv just adapted the allahu akbar strategy when i need to take a tank out i just switch to one of my troopers hold the grenade and run up beside the take killing myself and the tank every time.

Laughs in zimmerit.

In other words, the allies would have some problems with planting explosives on some of the german tanks.

i don’t see any tanks in game that you would have issues planting the explosive on even the Sd.kfz.234/2 wouldn’t be super difficult to plant it on, like the vehicle has a lot of spots on the side of it you could shove the charge.

Because we don’t have zimmerit or anything like that.
Implement your idea, wait 1-2 weeks and you will see x posts daily about implementing zimmerit to the game.
And those guys will be right. It was too common on the german tanks, to not implement it because of the balance.

I think the final Panzer 4 in the Normandy campaign has zimmerit on it now. At least the model does.

even for the tanks with those side plates the lower part of the track is still exposed enough to cram a charge up underneath it or one of the openings in the front wheel that moves the track

as for the non-magnetic coating of zimmerit it still wouldn’t counter a soldier running up beside a tank and shoving the bomb in any nook/cranny it can get stuck in.

i also made the suggestion to add S.T Grenades a while back since those were used quite effectively to blow the track off tanks, the explosive in those wasn’t strong enough to damage the armour but it was strong enough to blow the tread apart and immobilize the heavy’s so someone with a more powerful explosive could finish the job

You mean those?

Well, if you had to plant explosives (like suggested in OP), you wouldn’t be able to just shov the bomb somewhere. It’s a game so I’m 99% sure that you would have to plant explosives on a somewhat flat surface.

no these yea but also these gaps in the front and back wheels

And you want to plant explosives on them?
You will have greater chances of succeeding if you plant explosives on the zimmerit than on those wheels.

Unless I didn’t understand the OP and you will be able to both plant and throw explosives.

you do realize how big the holes in the wheels are compare it to the head of the guy popping out the hatch the holes are about big enough to shove his head in em so you wouldn’t have an issue slipping a couple sticks of dynamite in there… even if it doesn’t completely destroy the tank it will annihilate the caterpillar track immobilizing the tank…

and yea i did mean you would be able to still throw the explosive along side planting them while your beside the tanks

Yes, but you are talking about real life, I’m talking about implementing it to the game.
And I think that there are more important things to do than modeling precisely every weel.

correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression this game was going for the most realistic category :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yes, but it doesn’t mean that every rivet should be modeled.
There are some limits to what can be done in the game to not make it CPU hungry.

i don’t see where your going with this… you don’t need to model every rivet to be able to shove an object somewhere in a game… and modelling every rivet would be GPU hungry not CPU hungry…

I mean that modeling weels is not worth it. (I overcomplicated it, I admit.)
With sticking explosive pack into the weel you will do the same damage as with just throwing it under the tracks (in game). So in my opinion it’s a waist of resources.

Maybe, I don’t know.
