i did and if you read my previous comment you’d understand the inside of the tank doesn’t just catch on fire if you throw a molotov at the engine… like i said before it cooks you alive inside the tank if you cant escape… when you molotov’ed a tank you would wait for the crew to jump out because the heat became too intense and the engine is burned up so they cant drive around to dissipate the heat by air cooling the hull which is only slightly effective but its still dissipates some heat allowing you to cover a bit of ground so you can get away hopefully with your life after ditching your tank…
the problem is those aren’t standard issue equipment… they were reserved for people who could actually make use of them, they don’t just give some random recruit or footsoldier the highest quality equipment… they gave them standard issue equipment… basic rifles and basic grenades because they knew the odds of seeing you and that equipment together after the war were very low…
i wonder if you even read that article yourself or just scanned over it for the paragraph you wanted
it clearly states that multiple molotov’s in a salvo is the standard tactic for taking out tanks a single molotov might work if your lucky enough to get enough fuel in the exhaust/intake vent to ignite the rounds inside of the tank or if you hit the engine enough with firebombs to heat the fuel up enough that it detonates, but otherwise you end up asphyxiating and cooking to death because your tank has just basically turned into a mobile pizza oven…
And where was these intakes ? Conveniently at back of tank perhaps ?
Yeah this was the thing I was kind of looking for. Glad you read atleast that far.
But now I suppose your next argument is that tankers had scubadive equipment so minor asphyxiation wasnt a problem and driving ablazing tank was totally doable.
asphyxiation happens over a period of time as for the intakes it says they were located around the top of the tank near the turret but im guessing they were in different locations for different tanks…
Well when you put it that way it kind of makes sense.
As when you figure out your tank is burning you can fairly confidentally drive as long as you want as you just press F if your feeling dizzy and you teleport nexto your tank.
well they would end up cracking the hatch and that would immediately make fresh air rush in though if your tank’s hull is on fire the temperature would increase fairly fast and if they used tar molotovs they smoked em out with noxious gas
eeh ive used a panther in berlin as a non tanker (assaulter or engineer i think) after its crew died or left it
btw the past many posts count as flame wars
yea but that doesn’t mean you were a tanker with tanker skills deployed in a tank… it means you found a vehicle carcass on the field that for better or worse still works. doesn’t mean you can repair it with a medkit and im gonna go out on a limb here and say you probably don’t use toolkits on normal footsoldiers… right?
yea i just thought you were trying to use that as an excuse for why we shouldn’t have a wider verity of explosives and explosives that instakill all tanks should be reserves for AT Gunners only, like the magnetic mines and composition C-3
like i wouldn’t mind if normal infantry has ST grenades and the current explosion packs were toned down so they aren’t soo cheap that would be a decent balance that way infantry men could potentially destroy tanks just like AT specialists but it would take a lot more skill, just like how it would be in real life.
“Deployed Army combat engineers conduct route clearance operations to uncover improvised explosive devices, and they’re also experts at breaching operations, using high explosives in a variety of means.”
Assuming that tank repair time would increase from the current 10 seconds to the normal 2-5 hours at minimum with all the extra necessary tools arriving in a destroyable truck, and when tank crew leaving the burning tank through hatch one by one in a minute, they would catch fire, I fully support your crusade for reality vs. game balance idea.
This is sort of an arcade game, please don’t try to correlate it too heavily to real life, it’s fun how it is right now (tanks vs. infantry-wise) - first extend the possibilities and only then cut back the already available ones.
now your just being ridiculous… while i do actually support the idea of a supply truck vehicle for a mechanized unit Engineer re-work and New Light Vehicle Utility Squad Idea 2-5 hour repair time is just taking it to the stupid extreme… its not like im asking for a fucking real life simulator but if your gonna try to advertise your game as a realistic WW2 shooter don’t be surprised when the players point out unrealistic aspects JFC…
I think you and @96736484 are fixated at changing ONE more or less balanced aspect of the game due to being unrealistic, without wishing to change all the other connected unrealistic things or taking care of keeping the balance. Even though you don’t have problem with said balance, just you feel it too unrealistic and too easy.
I agree with that it’s unrealistic to blow up a huge steel case with a random 10-15m throw, but teleporting out from that stuff is just as unrealistic, fixing it in seconds is just as unrealistic, and…
There was Günther Viezenz in reality with 21 tank kills, not an AT guy, and here you are, resurrecting every time, seeing the tank marker through walls and everything and you can’t kill 21 tanks.
If you feel it is too easy, just stop killing tanks with explosion packs, do it with axe or knife for what it’s worth, a knight would surely not try to flank. Or just watch how it is done by new players and you’ll see how much they suffer with those super-easy detpacks, not even unlocked at start and suffering to get the necessary amount of bronze orders they need when finally they unlock it. If every second tank driver would complain that explosion packs are overpowered, I could understand it, but not this way. And yes, please ask for AT grenades, sticky explosives, better AT turrets etc.
I wish you don’t come with realism as a valid argument, if you don’t attack all the other unrealistic things around tanks. And if you don’t wish to understand what problems do I have with the suggestion, this is all I could do.
Nah, it’s just that I inxisted too much about this topic because the dissidents did argumentate with nothing but sarcasm while I was looking for serious answer so I started thinking that they just wanted milking this “unbalance” to get easy kills at the expense of tanks, after a while they luckily started answering me exhaustively .
Obviously I want all of the failing aspects to get fixed, not just this one.
