Experience penalty for veterans at lower BR

I have completed all the campaigns and already have several thousand experience points for the next nation levels. I play both BR2 and BR5 and obviously it goes without saying that in some BR2 games many beginners get “slaughtered” by experienced players. I often play BR2 because on our Discord server we help beginners, so we prefer to play lower BR to avoid games that are too difficult for them. The real problem is that this could lead to lazier high BR players slaughtering novices to easily farm nation levels. I believe that the experience gained should be proportional to the maximum level of the chosen nation and not “standard”. Obviously the issue of Silver earnings should remain unchanged.

I haven’t messed around with changing my squads to lower my BR. I’ve just been rocking my BR5 squads.

I’m curious as to what makes it possible for experienced players to slaughter the other players in BR2. Is it just familiarity with the game play and maps, or is there something else? My understanding is you have to lower your squads to pretty much run only bolt actions to get low tier BRs. Do they still let you run full grenade/mine load-outs and have BR1-2, or does that bump up BR to 3+ even with bolt actions?

No.

Because br ≠ skill, or talent.

Also, I prefer entry war weaponry and vehicles, over fantasy late br prototypes!

I mean you can punish me reducing my shite but I won’t stop mining their damn rallies to squeeze as much score as I want… or if they ever build a rally lmao

No, exp and silver gain should be playerfriendly to prevent min-maxing mentality in casual game… Guess is too late then

Lol instead of nerfing experience gained on low br, why not just buff experience gained on high br?

This.
Why should I be penalised for liking early war weapons?

What they need is better novice instruction and a place to query data
In this way, we can quickly adapt to the battlefield
Learn to use cover and use various equipment to your advantage
Rather than being unable to think and playing dozens of games and still not being able to figure out the situation.

All Tier 1 aircraft are currently equipped to destroy Tier 3 tanks.
(With the exception of the US military, 100 pounds is a piece of junk)
Even the M41 and Cougar can penetrate the KV1 head-on.
It’s really hard to understand what those people are complaining about

I don’t like it.

If this is about fair then you should get less XP for playing in a stack.

This is not really a competitive change or a good change to implement. If you penalize veteran players, they will not play that specific BR.

A more appropriate change would be to lower silver/rp gains altogether at low BRs to not incentivize veterans coming to lower BR to grind.

Higher BRs in War Thunder reward the player more in silver and research, there is no punishment for veterans seal clubbing at reserve BR or Tier 1-3. At the end of the day, it’s 100% skill based game and any advantage that veteran players have can easily be acquired by new players.

HOWEVER, I will agree on the fact that matchmaking needs to be overhauled cause a General should not be seeing low level players at ANY br if it is possible at least.

Honestly, I think rather than penalizing experienced players, (especially because many of us are trying to help out friends that are new to the game), there should instead be a bonus given to lower tier players that play with experienced players in higher tier.

This way, they can still play with their friends, but without having to drop to the lower tiers.

I think you are underestimating some things: in all my BR2 presets I include 3 assault squads, the machine gunners (to build the HMGs), for the Soviets I even have the BT-7A with the 76 F32. And I think all the veterans use a similar preset, which gives you a huge advantage against bolt actions.

The real problem is the fact that half the time the matches are completely unfair due to BR and skill mismatch.
One team:

  • often barely any ranks
  • barely any name decorators
  • effectively half “uptiered” (most of their gear is lower BR and unpgraded)
  • often bots/new players/really clueless players
  • very weak in antivehicle combat
    Other team:
  • match ends and you see 8 officer ranks
  • tons of name decorators
  • half of them are running maxed out meta lineups with premium slots (so for example one team has 10 spawns because there are tons of rallies and APCs are coming in constantly), there’s constant paratroopers, etc
  • not only is their gear maxed out, often half of them are downtiered
  • their vehicles are the max bullshit you can bring (and for overpopulated factions it’s safer to put on BR3 vehicles → they will often get downtiered into low BR, and even if they get BR5, who cares, their team often be strong and enemies hapless anyway)

So you end up with weak (on average) players with crap gear, fighting downtiered BS. And half the time long time players will be quick to ragequit from the loosing team too.

You need to fix the imbalance, instead of trying to adress all the symptoms of it ffs

  1. Rank doesn’t necessarily mean they are better, it just means they play the game a lot.

  2. Name decorators generally just mean they were around for an event that gave name decorators.

  3. The reason you see groups on the other side like this is generally because its a group of friends working together. In comparison, you probably just have a bunch of solo players on your side.
I advise you to make some friends and work as a team, you will have a much better time.

  4. Why penalize players that took the time to build up their squads for low and mid-tier? Its really not that difficult. Many players are focusing on the lower tier first so they can build up the supplies and research to effectively push into high tier.

We played against each other a few times, I think in Moscow. The real problem is that the most experienced players always have teams. When I join the game they often invite me or I almost always join with my teammates from the Discord channel. I believe that the whole community must learn that, especially after the merger, teams and future Clans will be fundamental to playing good games.

It would make sense, but we know that the heart of Enlisted is grinding

I leave immediately if get put in a mismatch like this. Happens all the time. Unless I have XP boost active, then I’ll stick it out.

Of course ranks are increasingly meaningless, given you can just go play (effectively) PvE and be Marshall in a week. Name decorators are also just a weak signal. There are tons of other things I also mentioned.
The fact remains that matches are incredibly poorly balanced most of the time, at least around the hours I play (EU day/evening)

Experienced players playing BR2 are not an issue, when the damn experienced player is often literally the only one fighting back against a horde of BR3 experienced players piling onto massively overpopulated faction

For sure. Name decorators don’t always mean the player is good. Neither does a group running tags. They could be a group of friends that suck haha.

However, I’d say way more often than not, if you’re lined up against a team full of name decorators, or clan tags, or far east hieroglyphs, and you have a bunch of controller icons, players named ned14502, and zero name decorators, you’re in for a bad time my friend.

It seems like what I keep saying on deaf ears to some around here. I’m glad to know those who aren’t twits get it.

No.

Because it’s a really disgusting sweat preset, honestly. Reason most of us play lower br is to have fun, using less powerful stuff.

I rock Lebels, Moroccan and red guards squads. I rock medics! Low br vehicles and planes.

Yet. I could be considered a veteran as there’s nothing I haven’t unlocked. It’s probably precisely because of this, that I do not NEED the best possible lineup.

In short:

  • Do not put every vets in the same basket.
