I think these should be cosmetic for the most part
Right now, they offer a skip for nearly all grind in the moscow campaign. They provide pre-leveled soldiers, upgraded guns and a maxed out squad. Furthermore, the squad has unique weapons which are better than any other weapon available in certain scenarios, as well as a unique squad structure, providing more close-range firepower than any other squad, as well as the ability to have both it and the normal assault squad, allowing you to bring 3 automatic weapon squads, which is otherwise not possible.
This makes the squad P2W.
Of course having them pre-leveled makes things even worse, as the vitality perk, granting +35% extra health, is so overpowered that with equal skill players, the one with the perk will win 9/10 times.
Stack the perk advantage on top of the P2W nature of the squad, and you have a recipy for a game-killing premium package. There is no fun in fighting people with 35% more health just because they had deeper pockets.
Sure, one could argue that you too can obtain fully upgraded soldiers and once you get those they will be stronger as they can carry 2 primaries instead of 1, but this takes so long that it isnt realistically feasible within 3 months, which means that any player that isnt willing to pay, nor is willing to fight an uphill battle for 3+ months, will simply leave the game due to lack of balance.
It hurts the playerbase
It drives away new players
It lowers the skill ceiling of the game dramatically
It forces a specific playstyle to be really effective, learning players only that playstyle
It offers no unique specialization for the player to choose. It’s SMG, or die
I personally think it is one of the reasons that the Moscow campaign is dying, yet not the main one. Long queue times, lots of bots, the signs are there.
But this isnt entirely the fault of the premium squads
The premium squads are the embodiment of what is wrong with the progression system. If the squad did not have maxed out soldiers with OP perks, upgraded weapons, or maxed out squad, and had to be leveled like any other squad, it would probably be worse than the standard assaulter squad.
The premium squad should not offer anything more than increased progression speed, not instant progression like now, and cosmetics. The PPK especially is too unique to hide behind a paywall.

How long until we get premium units that require even more powerful additions as counters, thus powercreeping original game assets?
PPK? UNIQUE? WTF?
PPK’s recoil is so huge that isnt newbie friendly at all.
Meanwhile MP41 is almost a laser gun, with more power and more firerate.
Every soviet players will switch to drum PPD asap, PPK dosent stand out at all.
But MP41 does so well in recoil, that makes it so unique.
What prevent new players from leaving within first few match is a starter proof things.
Now, we wont have any rank-related match making system, due to lack players, but the premium squad at least give newcomers, especially THIS LATE, when most other players reached 2nd or 3rd tank level.

But currently the unbalance caused by premium squad is small to none, more main reasons is previous OP german and caused soviet players losing, and now imbalanced playercount in each side in match.
Also, if you developer really going to nerf those what we have already bought stuffs, without refund options or etc. (We wont able to communicate here due to LANGUAGE BARRIER, not all people able to handle English to express their thoughts)

Instead of just writing extra long essay on what is wrong with premium squads, I´m just going to back this one with adding some of my points to it.
To keep it short, purpose of premium squad should be: 1. speeding up research 2. be unique.
Right now, premium squads are 1. speeding up the research 2. they are indeed unique 3. BUT they are heavily overpowered and thus P2W.
Low recoil SMGs together with recoil and health perks is just deadly combination of poisons to kill the game. If premium squads stay the same, they will not be “optional” for new players or veterans (yes, premium squad outclasses any regular squad, in terms of weaponry and thus effectiveness by large margin, so squad composition should also be looked into), they will be mandatory to have any semblance of fun or enjoyment from the game on expense of others.
That is predatory, and outright hostile environment for new players (and for veterans, its not fun to fight only against bots or premiums due to this reason) causing game to die.
To fix this issue, we need to return to first two points mentioned above, perhaps giving premium squads just very small gameplay advantage that does not outclass F2P player´s skill.
And to return to these original two points, a lot of perks (especially recoil and health) needs drastic nerf (prefferably, removal).
Also brand new player should not have access to the top notch soldiers. They can be rank 5, but with 0 levels achieved, which should be grindable as regular soldiers (thus, eventually getting to level 5 of rank V soldier anyway.
Few points of criticism to this one:
Are you trying to FORCE devs into sharing your beliefs through threats? Testers shouldn´t be lobbying for their own pleasure or advantage of mass slaughtering newbies, so may I kindly ask you to stop doing that and provide feedback that is not rude to anyone, and also constructive? Everything in this stage of development is subject to change, that is something you should be aware of before making purchase.
Constructive? Only main german players hanging around on this forum, complaining on soviet strong, german weak. But those soviet players may more unable to speak English so they wont be here to express their thoughts!

So what about early stage CBT when soviet has nearly none method to deal with PZ3E, most soviet players unlocked BT7 MUCH LATER than german players unlocked PZ3E. Also PZ3E is still OP than BT7. Do germans give way to soviet players before solo mode out and smashing soviet side with more human per side? Better weapons? More levels? I seen some germans reached mortar level just days after CBT, while most soviet players progress slowly due to always lose.
Also, here is my right to express my anger of just kept saying “premium is OP, nerf it”.
PPK is drastically diffrent to the PPD, providing an unique experience. Whether it is good or bad is irrelevant. It being newbie friendly or not is also irrelevant. It should be accessible for anyone to use, if they want, without having to pay.

And once again, this is early access. Everything is open to change. Nerfing something is not a grounds to receive a refund, unless you with to get a full refund, including you losing access to the game.
I love how you still go on about the 91/30 after I merely asked for historical sources for it’s reload and somehow translate that as me having 0 knowledge about anything. I will refrain from making any personal comments but I do think this shows what kind of person you are.
Russian players have the Russian forums. I have used Google translate to check out their threads and they’re not too far apart from the English ones. “German mains” or “Russian mains” is completely unrelated to premium squads. I want my teammate’s and my own premium squads just as nerfed as my enemy’s. Whether I play Germany or Russia, has nothing to do with that.
If anyone want PPK experience, for what? PPD drum do everything better than it. If just want the exact feels, go to german and use free MPs. But what MP41–its laser gun’s feel wont available from any other SMG in game.

But we already paid this 30, (actually ~50). And it will be a discontinued stuff, will be no more after CBT(OBT?) ended. So why change ours, the already exist limited one? Not changing future paid stuff and prevent this wrong things from happen?

none is going to stick to a game where it takes 1 bullet to die and 2 bullets to kill(yeah the 35% vitality perk) .

It’s called “Founders pack” and one of its selling points is “CBT access”. So pretty sure they will discontinued this after OBT start.
Crossout also had founders packs. They only slightly altered them once OBT hits. Sure they are developed by diffrent studio’s, but both are published by Gaijin and both are following a similar trend in development. Early access tests that last short whiles, closed alpha, then closed beta.

I’ll add my suggestions for it tho.
Remove the health perk;
I’ve had instances where I’ve shot premium squad soldiers point blank with a rifle and then they turned around as if nothing happened and wiped my entire squad.
The squad should be given the not maxed 5 star soldiers;
These troops are available through loot boxes although rarely. Therefore, it’s not like something a normal player can’t obtain unless they put months of work into the game.
Nerf the premium squad guns;
No explanation needed. Both the guns are way too accurate and have high damage at long distances. Like Cat said, it eliminates the need for players to achieve any sort mastery with any other weapon in the game.
Honestly, much of these issues can be solved through level based matchmaking. Premium players should only be up against campaign level 5 players or higher if they have premium squad equipped. It gives the new normal players the time to learn the ropes of the game without being in fear of the infamous yellow coats(Sorry, I main Axis).
Tbh, I would like to see the PPK and MP41s given to the early backers of the game and give the trench kar98 and whatever Soviet equivalent to the founders pack buyers. The way I see it, the early backers deserve such an OP element in game for the trust they put in the developers. As for the founder’s pack buyers, they are just trying to buy their way into veteran-ship.
Premium squads indeed sometimes seems to be unbearable by bolt rifles. But in theory every soldier can obtain 35 health perk, so for now I see a prems is a good beginner load out. While the company is long and you have to grind a lot experience - the boost is quite handy.
Prems got only 4 strong soldiers. There is not such a big problem at the battlefield to beat them except the close fight with ka98/mosin. This time you 99 per cent dead.
The solve maybe can be player got to decide - health boost or recoil reduction. Many players can choose recoil.
In anyways premature can’t be only cosmetic for sure. Unique weapons and devices.
So for now we need more of them - French battalions, partisans, home guard, paratroopers in Moscow battle company.
As I wrote before, milita can have old Lebel rifles but big exp boost.
But only after months of playing, which is terrible for a game that throws new and old players into the same lobby

Except they can. And should be. They should offer reskins of weapons, like a French bolt action rifle that has the exact same stats as the M1903. They can also offer increased XP gain
I really couldn’t disagree more. The current premium squads proved detrimental to the game’s health. Adding more will only make it worse.
if i can give an honest opinion;
i don’t even know where to begin with this one…
anyway, to begin with, i can say that we played much enough, to understand what’s a bs, and what is actually ok. trying to figure it out what the devs wanted to make for this game, and what actually came.
the initial intents, and what has been brought to us.
meaning that, we ( as i can speak for my self, and many others tester that i had the chance to talk, argue and overhall, collborate with ) aren’t against premium squads, cosmetics or any other microstransations. because we understand that doing such, it will keep the game alive, and more content will come from those money.
but when we encountered for the first time, a premium squads, we immediatly found out that something it’s not going well.
because thinking for the struggle, where you almost need entire months of real life by playing this game in order to somewhat, archieve the same fire power of this squad( and not even fully like the premium squad, because the max ammount of automatic weapons for a single non premium squad, it’s 5. ). not to mention, the time required for achieve weapons upgrades, veterans soldiers and perks.
meaning that for 30 euros, you just basically wasted your money, because not only you are gonna find the game boring, but you basically paid for having a squad that cannot be beated normally if not from the distance, or by a tank. changing the overhall balance. also, this pack it’s gonna kill your endgame, because you don’t have to upgrade your normal assault squad since you already got the premium one that it’s better, and making your game experience very shorter. ( technically, if you want secondaries you need to upgrade that squad, or if you wanna train more soldiers )
we understand that a premium squad should be special, and somewhat better than the others. which it’s totally fine. but not stupidly broken and overpowered. because if the squad was only for 10 euros, with only 4 starter assaulter and no health perks where you had to upgrade them up to 7, it would have been much better…

I’ll reiterate: Nobody is going to stick around in a game where it takes more than 2 bullets to kill and 1 to be killed.
So, as a “Fix”
i would suggest:
Solution
- decreasing the price from 29 to 10
- the premium squad will keep their special smg
( as for the reason of being unique ) - soldiers start from 1/2 stars rather than 5
( and those soldier can progress up to 5 stars ) - starting with just 4 soldiers like a regular squad
( in order to upgrade it up to 7 ) - all squad’s upgrades has to be made with progression
meaning that the only way to rise them up, it’s by playing them ) - perks has to be earned
( since you are getting the best perk for sure, at least don’t give them right on the bath ) - add a little 20xp booster for squad progress and soldiers progress systemfor this squad. so that you can unlock a bit faster upgrades )
why?
in my personal opinion, this would be better. because it would give a reasons to people to decide if buy this pack or not, but at the same time, you are not breaking anyone’s gaming experience, nor the long term playability ( don’t know how to say it xd ) of anyone. because if you give everything on the bath, the player most likely will get bored. and wont buy anything else anymore as they are kinda stacked up.
and no one else balance is ruined. after all, this game clames to be realistic. but i don’t see much realism in this squad…
but i don’t know. maybe it’s just me.
and if this scenario don’t work out,
than i much prefer having cosmetic that are lock behind payments. after all i prefer paying for cosmetic that does not harm anyone rather than paying for equipment.
