While it would be a nice detail to have, I think they can’t really do it. Swastikas lead to bans in certain countries.
+1
Just because I hate every and all type of censorship. Perhaps also allow green pea ss camouflage on certain squads, other than bot ones. Nobody should be jealous of bots, and bots should never dress better than players
Nope. The Swastika has no place in this game, and shouldn’t have one in CoD. Germany can be represented without it.
Exept it does. Those are games about ww2, a war that DID happen irl and that symbol DID exists. The OP also propose it as an option, so that those wanting to deny history like you would still be satisfied
I mean… we are not in a woke sjw version of ww2 like in EA’s battlefield, I hope… Are we?
By that same logic the soviet red star has no place in games either. It’s just a symbol, it won’t preach the ideology of those who used it (not like they were the only ones to use it either btw).
Germany can.
Nazi Germany can’t. It’s literally the point of Nazi Germany, the swastika is what represented them at the time. And even in modern times nazis are represented by the swastika.
I don’t see a problem whatsoever with adding a toggle for Iron Cross or Swastika.
According to your logic, remove the soviet star as well.
As much as I would like to see more historical accurate textures, I don´t think it is realistic at this point because there is serious lack of courage on that front even during the times when symbols like this are kind of allowed with some limits such as for artistic purposes only. But it is true that some countries still use regulations mercilessly against our eyes (funnily enough same goes for communist symbols as well).
I’m saddened to say you are likely correct… But we can dream… I’d at least like to see proper uniforms on ss troops in game though.
Honestly It would be BY FAR better if Darkflow would just remove (or allow us to remove through custom and allowed mods- WT style) those crimes against graphic design that are used as censored placeholders… It is one of the reasons why I hate playing Berlin.
It’s not like most countries that fought on the Axis side are taught to feel ashamed of the side their ancestors fought on during the war… right?
You’d love Moscow’s ridiculous pz4 premium skin, with that huuuuge CENSORED flag on top!
Glad I´m not looking on premium tank roofs then…
But this is common gaijin absurd censorship policy (just look at those weird random… things on german planes…) and even censoring finnish swastika that had literally nothing to do with nazism.
awwww is somebody scared of the scary windmill?
what’s up with the simbles?.
i thought we passed this point by a bit.
Swastikas equal being banned in some countries = no money for the title.
it ain’t me saying it, but the actual L A W S of some countries.
it’s not like your immersion cares that much since half of the uniforms are wrong and soldiers are underequipped because of backpack system.
just saying.
( which if you care that much, you can change the textures of it, and there you go. )
Awww, is someone so insecure they feel the need to talk shit to strangers on the internet?
not the red star, the sickle and star of the ussr (i realize i rymed and im sry but its how it came out on the screen
Unfortunately, no computer game or other artistic expression will make you a National Socialist. There must always be separation and just simple logic - separating real events, politics, from movies, theater, books, and even more so computer games. History is not falsified. The period represented in the game should not be censored. But presented correctly.
To decide if this is proper, a brief look at history is probably worthwhile to establish what its intended meaning was.
The Hakenkreuz was used widely in the late ninetenth century (It grew popular due to interest in its use in antiquity. Heinrich Schliemann found the Hakenkreuz present in Troy) and especially after Hitlers adoptation of it as part of the swastika in the twentieth century. Other fascist party’s and regimes across Europe took the Hakenkreuz and adopted it in various forms into their symbolism. Its meaning is “Racial Purity” and was used not just by those in Europe but extensively across Africa and Asia. The Ottomons prior to their collapse in 1922 had used it. Ali Suave (1839-1878) stated that this was because:
“1. Turks are superior to other races in political, military and cultural aspects.
2. The Turkish language surpasses the European languages in its richness and excellence.
3. Turks constructed the Islamic civilization.”
As far as the Germans use of the Symbol, it was an extension of this meaning of racial purity and initially the flag was not used as the German symbol alone. For instance President von Hindenberg and Adolf Hitler in 1933 issued a joint statement retaining the black-gold-white flag and placing the Hakenkreuz beside it stating that this will, “connect the glorious past of the German Empire to the powerful rebirth of the German nation. Together they embody the power of the state and the inner solidarity of the national circles of the German people!”. It was not until the Reich Flag Law (One piece of legislation as part of the Nurumberg Race Laws passed on September 15, 1935) that the hakenkreuz became the official symbol of the state. The NSDAP released statements that the symbol was intended to be “a potent symbol intended to elicit pride among Aryans, the swastika strikes terror into Jews and others deemed enemies of Germany.”
Given that, this flag is clearly being used as a symbol for race not just in the German Empire but across fascist and other racial-orientated groups (some communist groups in Eastern Europe). It would be my view that this imagery not be added into enlisted as there are other, less horrific symbols available to us, especially since the Germans themselves have divorced themselves entirely from the reich.
Its not about censorship. Its just about being careful with what aspects of this time period we’re representing. Enlisted is strictly warfare in gameplay, I dont see any need to go into this long history for something thats not even related? Surely its better to use the Iron Cross?
Also don’t forget the fact that even the Wehrmacht wasn’t a nazi army. It was just the German army, fighting for Germany and not the nazi ideology. As such, using the German flag (just an example) for something the nazis did would be quite insulting to modern day Germany I’d say.
