To be honest, the game has everything to be the best in its genre, it has an infinite number of weapons, vehicles, it contains almost the majority of fronts that occurred in the war, from the Western to the Pacific, even though the game is mainly arcade, it has realistic and tactical elements, the large number of soldiers in the real game makes it seem like it really is a battle between, many other things
Now, despite all that, why is the game stagnant? Well, this is due to the little or no importance that the devs give to extremely important elements, such as the issue of animations, the terrible AI that the game has, despite being its main axis, the little communication they have with its community, the imbalance in matchmaking is still notable, in fact I dare say that there are more people playing personalized games than a normal game, partly because personalized games like Big Action apart from taking advantage of part of that wasted potential that the game has , they arrive to be much more fun than a normal game⌠there is really so much potential that this game has and the devs donât even make an effort to try to get something out of it.
But hey, I guess that train has already left and this game will remain practically the same for the next few years, a shame.
My biggest issue with current Enlisted, compared to beta and early game balance is that playing Enlisted felt like being actually part of a Battlefield - you actually played along with you AI units rather than they playing along with you. You had a real frontline, and AI was powerful enough that simply âwalkingâ through the map was impossible to do - you had to take cover and actually pick your targets one by one.
AI has gotten so weak over the years, it really had hurt the game.
Nowadays its all about CQC, full auto and wiping squads fast, back in the days AI was already effectively fighting and getting kills at 100 meters distance.
It took them a year to add a tank since its announcement. I guess they just donât have resources for them to work faster and more efficiently.
Yet I think they are constantly trying to improve every aspect of the game.
Not that Iâm happy with all of their decisions. But thatâs only all about my personal preferences.
I certainly wouldnât say that devs donât care about things like balance, animation, or AI. They just arenât very fast and efficient in development and implementation.
AI is so bad because most casuals seek for chill casual botfarm game, i wish they would add âhard modeâ for enlisted or something with more lethal AI for more engaging experience. No more stupid running around youâd watch your steps from now on
Improved AI so they donât behave like defenseless Oblivion NPCâs waiting to be mag dumped
More factions + maps (Commonwealth, Italy, France, and China would suffice, anything else would be cool too but harder to implement as stand-alone factions I think)
An overhaul of basically all of the uniforms in game since they all are not that great to look at to put it mildly
Maybe increase map sizes for more âStrategicâ and âTacticalâ gameplay (Enlisted should remain a fast paced game IMO but sure slowing down matches a bit is something I wouldnât mind and Iâm sure lots of other people want this to some degree but it shouldnât become a true walking simulator MilSim game)
Maybe add team based voice chat as a regular function that does not require you to friend people first (Not everyone wants to friend people, not everyone wants to use Discord)
All this being said, the game is improving over time IMO at least.
The Original Enlisted was a really ambitious project with a super innovative concept:
Quote from 2020:
Other online shooters are basically sports-like competitions with one team fighting against the other with the background set or decor of a particular historical period, but itâs not a battle, it has nothing to do with the objectives that soldiers had in real warfare. The desire to actually âwalk in a real soldierâs bootsâ, to be victorious against the opponent - the opponent being a real person - this is what we as players seek in these games but never find. We want to not only create âarenasâ for a 15x15-30X30 team fight, but create scenarios that have tactics similar to real combat missions.
Battles involving equal teams in equal conditions are, of course, interesting as a competition. But they do not have the immersion or the thrill of real battle, where balanced forces and symmetrical objectives are unlikely.
The other feature of âEnlistedâ is detailed accuracy in every battle. You may be a defender of Moscow in the trenches dug around the city, facing advancing enemy tanks and superior forces, with an objective to hold the enemy, to stop the advancing army in its tracks with all the resources you have. Your task is not to kill every enemy soldier; imagine being a member of the landing operation with an objective of capturing a foothold and mounting defenses, making it possible for the main forces to land on the continent, or, on the contrary - defend against the landing party, or lead your troops so that they arrive in time to a strategic point. This is something one can experience in single-player games but not in online game with human opponents.
Unfortunately, it has succumbed to a Call of Duty level of âWW2 backdropâ where a Panther tank disguised as an American M10 is time and space travelling to 1942 Stalingrad to fight against Soviets who magically adopted AS-44 and brought back Fedorov Avtomat from WW1.
yeah what makes them so awful is lack of responsiveness and authentic behaviour, if they are getting shot at they should actively search for cover and then fire back, donât even get me started about their weird movement where they run and stop and run and stop as if they didnât know themselves what theyâre trying to do, it makes them look awful and even worse it makes them hard to kill because they dodge everything I donât understand why isnât it major issue for players I havenât seen anyone complaining about that really it makes them really hard to kill with BA rifle etc, AI movement should be predictable to some extent, if theyâre getting shot at you can expect them to run to nearest cover and this way shot at them efficiently with for example sniper rifle which you have to shoot in advance where theyâre gonna be once round will reach them and right now playing sniper is pretty hard actually with how AI is moving so weird.
bro i keep yelling about the AI stutterstep every single time I play lul
yeah, they could do better with seeking coverâŚbut bots will spot you and start blasting if you run in front of them or make noise they can hear, itâs not actually all that bad
And I donât think making bots better at shooting long range is all that much of a good idea - they already can sometimes lazer you through 5 bushes which is extremely annoying to play against
