Engineers should be able to equip the shotgun. It is a CQB type weapon that is perfect for the Engineer class.
Engineers did not historically carry shotguns.
Furthermore, they already are one of the most powerful classes in the game. It does not need a buff.
this is a great idea
What happened to keeping this game historically accurate?
I mean they’re adding the Pederson device and all these other super rare weapons, many that were never even in WW2. This game is far from trying to be accurate
That would be a one-off item (that I personally aren’t a fan of either). This would be changing an entire weapon/soldier class.
Like this can literally be compared to giving pilots LMGs or anti tank rifles.
Just wait until this game keeps going. We will get there
Not saying I’m for or against it but accuracy is already on the decline imo
Well at least I can sue my money back for misadvertisement in that case. They advertised historical accuracy
The M2 hyde was never even issued but here we are lol
Afaik some were used despite them never been officially issued.
But then again we got Soviet Chauchat while it would probably have been more common on the German side than Soviet
And even while the accuracy is declining doesn’t mean we should actively support/suggest further decline.
gets shouted down every time it is mentioned of course …
Strict historical accuracy is too limiting for content of you ask me.
But I don’t see shotguns as an engineer weapon, except maybe the auto 5 for its smaller size and I would rather keep all shotguns together.
Engineers would realistically use carbines or SMGs, but SMGs are a balance concern. So I would rather make carbines more appealing for engineers to use than give engineers a different weapon.
It’s been touched on before, but there’s no reason right now to pick the Mosin 1938 or the M1 Carbine over the Mosin Dragoon and M1 Garand.
The only real reason the carbines were even created was a weight savings for people who didnt need a large primary weapon such as artillery or engineers. They would really have to tweak mobility or class lock carbines to engineers to have anyone use one
The length also made a difference. One example I read was that slung garands had the tendency to knock the owner’s helmet around, while slung carbines wouldn’t.
Maybe make weapon choice have a bigger impact on movement speed, and have carbines carry less of a mobility penalty than rifles.
Why dont engineers and radio operators have a class lock for carbines only to off set their powerful secondary abilities? Right now I’d rather have either of those with a Garand over a regular rifleman.
Yeah I’ve thought the same thing now that you mention it. Riflemen need a purpose, it used to be a big topic.
Only reason for a secondary on the rifleman is a spare weapon which I rarely use anyway. Kind of pointless to keep the “trooper” class in a squad over literally any other class. They all get M1 Garands
It’s even more pointless when you remember riflemen can only carry rifles. Having 2 bolt actions just feels dumb. At least rambo assaulters with a shotgun and an SMG or rifle made sense.
Yeah true. I hope they change it and make them actually unique in some way and not just immediately replaced or be space fillers
