There needs to be tutorial once player unlocks engineers and explain them that rally points are the most important thing they can build.
I sometimes play Tunisia and so far I haven’t unlocked it as I mainly play Normandy but when I see our sole engineer building AAs instead of rally, or 3 ammo crates and sits back with mortar while our team runs cross country to the objective and losing badly because there are no rallis it is really sad.
A lot of those are more selfish players than people who don’t know how to use engineers I’d say. Also Mortars could be going for the achievement in that situation. But people should be encouraged to build good rallies and other stuff a lot more than they currently are though so something like this wouldn’t be a bad addition.
Yeah, regarding points it is better to build AA in the gray zone and farm kills than build rally.
Yesterday I played Moscow allies for daily task, I have basically stock squads but with 1 engineer in each yet, the battle was ultimately one sided and fast that I just wasted time building them. I stopped 50m from objective at the flank and as I build rally, we capped it and that went on and on until the last point. I got maybe 8 kills in total as I spent most of the time building rallies that went obsolete nearly as soon as I finished them.
Setting up rally takes time = time you are not actively going for kills and directly rewards very little compared to the effort it takes to set it up and when nobody defends it, enemy flanker can destroy it in a second if it gets discovered.
I see people with MKB 42s and Thompsons not building rallies. It isnt just new people. Many people will take a radio operator who can call in a strike once every 3 minutes over an engineer for some reason
If your team is snowballing so hard you can’t even blink for a second without them starting to capture the next point, there’s no way you can build a rally point that is going to see some use. It’s kind of a really hard thing to balance where in a snow ball it becomes a waste of time but if the enemy is snow balling your team unless you can get a nice behind enemy lines rally point set it’s wasted effort again since they can just rush up and destroy it instantly. In a slow match rally points can be really strong but if you could build them too fast they would become too strong.
So in the end in these slow matches there should be a lot more rally point action, but most people are likely used to the easy snowballing matches where they don’t have to worry about it.
Mindful new players will learn over time.
Braindead people, well … they always have been and will always be. Such people do not waste they time to any tutorials
Rally points that are actually used by your team actually stack up base XP pretty well. I always build rally points and defensive fortifications at the points and judging from the leaderboard scores that aren’t cropped and do show Base XP earned….engineer rally beacons and defensive fortifications (that are well placed) combined with a decent number of kills will earn more Base XP than if someone concentrates on kills by camping in a tank OoB.
The way that I look at it is if my Base XP is quite a bit higher than my leaderboard score, then I played well, win or lose.
I try and explain engineers in every single stream I make. In hopes that one day, just maybe someone will do the same as me and build it.
If you see my videos, in 90% I am the only guy, ever building them. So yeah, I hope its put into a tutorial so that way new players might just figure it out.
I think the problem also is is that new players don’t understand the metric of how this generates success in a game. They only see bullets and grenades as influencing the battle. Where as the well place rally point is really the most important thing ever made.
The event showed us clearly that people are more than capable of putting them up, they just won’t do it without reward. Nice xp bobby but i get same with just putting 2-3 rally per game, and having half your engineer score. I used to do it every game, every point, but it gets old super quick once you realize half the games have more bots than people, and the bots play obcjective better than said people.
I hope we can have a AI “Build rally/ammo” command, so people just click it once instead of having to watch same hammer time animation 2000 times
Post the screenshots because you were complaining about getting very few kills if you concentrated on building rally points, it can’t be both
Lol i have nothing to prove, if You don’t believe me You don’t have to.
Like no one knows how many kills you can get with decent bombing runs or camping in tank in grey areas. Even pure infantry you can get full squad killed in time it takes to build rally. If i’m in position where i have to build rally, because no one else does, it 90% also means that whole team sucks and game is lost anyway.
Best xp right now is for playing each squad once and then afking whole ass game, even if you lose the xp calculations are so broken it’s stupid.
Point is, rally points win games, no one uses them right now. Event showed us they don’t bother without reward.
So we either reward everyone better, or we make building them more simple by using bots.
We can argue all day, but im done with explaining every match to people why we need rally points.
How so? And every time someone posts a SS here of them camping with a high number of kills, their “Base XP”, the very 1st number in the formula that calculates the final Campaign XP is generally quite low….because if you are camping OoB, the majority of your kills are going to be away from the Obj.
It makes a drastic difference where your kills are made.
Base XP and Final campaign XP are not a direct reflection on the leaderboard score and a player can earn the max Battle hero bonus of x1.5 without being at the top of the leaderboard.
Engineers are important, not only to the team, but also to the player building RPs and fortifications by way of increased Base XP.
I’m talking ab out xp/min, and in addition this allows to complete battlepass tasks faster. I’ve met people doing this in matches, play for 5 min, do task, afk rest of game.
Since you get lower score on squads, the calculations are more favourable, so you get 2x xp.
I had like 1k xp/min without premium. Good matches with 1.5 win and 1.5 awards multiplayer and premium gets You 1-1.2k/min if matches are longer and with bombers. So it’s like Your scores.
So it’s more xp, you play less. You can watch something in background or whatever. Matchmaking makes 90% of matches so unbalanced You playing doesn’t even make diffrence.
With premium i could do like 2k xp/min, but im speedruninng to fg42 and play anyway (-matches that You insta leace, seeing 5 good player on other team and none in yours, just pain to play and half xp is gone)
How can you do that? I got kicked when I was saving screenshot so I had it alt+tabbed for less than 45s
The respawn UI is so broken, You can just select squad that was just used, and can’t be brought back so You won’t even spawn in the game, and the game won’t kick You.
I really hope they will fix the infuriating timer shit first, that gets longer once someone spawns at your rally, so you have to wait while everyone uses something you build so nice. Also timer doesn’t make sense as people just put 2 rally close to avoid it, and it makes winning team have even more advantages, retarded balancing right here.
It was reported many times here on forum, but i guess only once they finally notice poeple afking (for real, 1 guy afk not big deal, but when 5 are doing it, it leaves 4 people playing, who will 99% lose and it will take them 2xlonger, so they will propably leave game if they have 2 braincells) they will just slap lazy afk kicker to menu too.
PLEASE FIX UI FIRST, WE SHOULD NOT BE WAITING THERE FOR SO LONG, REMOVE TIMERS FROM RALLY IT"S POINTLESS
so use this while you can, if they deem it an exploit i’ll laugh so hard, since you can do it on accident, and they can’t roll back xp so GL banning half your playerbas
I really see no point in that. It still nets me bigger reward if I play and if I have not much time to do daily tasks, then I launch a few custom D-Days or Conquest maps depending on the tasks given.
Depends how much You play, if You don’t have time every day to play 2h, you can do this in background in 15min.
I will play a devil´s advocate here…
Actually, that is perfectly forgivable situation (and one of the very few existing situations that actually are forgivable), especially if team members make themselves useful for once and show mortarmen where to shoot. In return you are going to receive support that will be quite effective. It allows you to get rid of enemy strongpoints or weaken them on the way to those points.
Mortar is also support weapon that works like a charm, unless your team ignores that, or player with mortar doesn´t care. But that is different story.
Having said that, I don´t understand how should be one mortar player responsible for an ENTIRE team´s lack of common sense or braincells.
If it is the only one with engineer in the field then rally should be priority build. I always take one engineer in squad but I sometimes venture into campaigns and factions I don’t play often and especially Tunisia is long ride to unlock them if you are not focusing on it solely. So I notice these things a lot when I cannot deploy my engineers there yet and have to fully rely on others.
It is not. Rally should never replace the main spawn.
You have major benefit of being able to spawn on flanks or behind the enemy lines, or just closer to the cap. If you remove this limit, it will be extremely broken as defenders will be overwhelmed really fast. No team can survive so close to a spawn and it doesn´t really matter whether they have protection or not in that case.
That timer is one of the two balancing factors that made rally possible to work and be in the game without being absolutely broken.
There is no way for that player to know.
I can´t see every player´s squad setup and I bet that you can´t either so there is no way to be sure. Giving up your precious support ammo or not is up to every mortar player. If they also lack common sense in situation that clearly requires them to do that, it is another story.
