Droptank in Pacific is fun but useless

The allied droptank of 150 liters in Pacific seems completely useless.
It’s fun to use but it does next to no damage at all.
Just buff it or delete it all together.
I am lucky if it kills 1 or 2 soldiers, direct hit is the best, my record is multikill 8.
But usually I get zero kills despite many hit markers.
Once I dropped one the objective, got dozens of hitmarkers all the way back to the ammo point but not a single kill.
Direct hits on tanks dont destroy them and dont even set them on fire, it seems.
It was suggested to me to just use it as a blocker, but that also seems useless because you can just walk through it and simply rub off the flames.
So from now on I will just drop it in the sea at takeoff to save weight.

i would change mine to an 50kg bomb if i could choose.

It only kills the bots while real players just walk past by. It’s nothing but a gimmick. It doesn’t last very long so it can’t used as a point blocker.

Not to mention that the very small AoE makes it harder to actually hit the area you want, in the first place.

I could swear that a single 75mm HE from a tank has got a larger blast than those fuel pods.

American plane got HVARs and Japanese got more ammo for its 20mm cannon compared to the unlockable Zero. Drop tanks are there just for the fireshow and nothing more.

It’s true, it’s ironic that those planes don’t even need their fuel tanks to be probably the best planes in the campaign for their respective factions.

But still it’s super weird, considering all the hype the devblogs tried to raise around said weapon, to the point of making it a main point of the roadmap and selling specifically advertised premiums.

True. Can count on one hand how many people I got with that drop tank.
But yet: I must say, that the majority of players yelled at the devs once they announced the airplanes. “WILL BREAK GAMEBALANCE!”
“ABSOLUTELY OP!”
“CRAZY MOVE!”

It is crazy.

Especially when releasing all the new stuff as premium or in FOMO events.
What healthy thing for the game.

If I remember correctly the playerbase just saw its potential in breacking the game if balanced improperly.
And well everyone expected the 330L tank to be more than a inaccurate glorified molotov delivered by plane.
And to be fair it might be way stronger in campaignes that actually feature chokepoints like city maps as you can always walk around the flames in the pacific.

one way to fix the drop tank is to make it do instant fire damage or idk increase it damage radius or something

Fuel tanks are crazy.
Crazy stupid :upside_down_face:

Bruh, gonna break your illusion, but 330L of Japanese Drop tank is worse than the 60kg bomb it has so

Drop tank sucks, another proof that the Devs never playtest their game

They did, but they thought it’s okay. Which is even worse than not testing it.

It’s jsut another gimmick to bait buying premiums.

My very first drop, got so hyped when I saw hundreds of frequently popping whit hit marker.

Didn’t get one single assist …

they absolutely need a buff. my avg kills with the fuel tank is about ~ 1 per bombing.
this makes those tanks officially the worst bomb type in the game, even 50 kg bombs can wipe a whole squad if dropped on it, the fuel tanks barely create 2-3 kills when hitting 20 soldiers.
they need a strong buff.
maybe by adding them the phosphor grenade effect on top of the molotov effect? if both work additive, it should actually create proper kill rates.

Probably yes.

Absolutely not. That makes even less sense than the exploding fuel tanks themselves.

what about my idea of instant fire damage? i mean current fire damage happen like 2 second if enemy near fire

it already is at 1,5 sec, which is the reason it doesnt work. problem is that all fire sources ingame have 1,5 sec delay, which doesnt make sense.
standing next to a burning house is ok with 1,5 sec, getting liters of fuel dropped on your head should ignite instantly, so this parameter needs to change. if thats too hard, my recommendation with the phosphor effect would also work and be easily implemented, also looking quite cool. depending on the mixture the fuel bombs irl also created thicc toxic fumes.

I’ve seen it used very effectively. The only thing is though is that its not effective when used by a solo player.

What I mean here is that it is effective when used in tandem with other strategies, but by itself, without much team support, its not terribly effective (nor should it be).

here corrected this for ya…
