Don't let the barrel sniping meta from War Thunder be brought over here

It’s not a fun meta
It makes War Thunder tanks absolutely unfun because every bad player just has to click on your barrel to receive a kill. And that shouldn’t be the go-to tactic while playing tanks in Enlisted. The game is absolutely fine without it and better for it. I’ve just had my gun barrel shot out in a single hit three times in the last match alone when they could have just one shot me through my turret or upper front plate. It adds a massive layer of frustration to the game.

Considering that barrels really take very little damage when hit this could just be a bug with the M4A2 76 in Berlin having a paper mache barrel which would be nice to have fixed.

This is my second kneejerk thread on the subject lmao

This, barrel sniping wasn’t a thing irl or in any game at all i was hoping that they removed dumb mechanic or give the barrel just alot of health.

Yeah it usually does have a lot of health so having it knocked out in a single hit makes me think its a bug
I managed to clip the muzzle break on a PzIV earlier and turn his barrel red and he could return fire fine.
So it might just be a bug with the M4A2 76mm

that’s what they did

Then how come people can still knock out barrels?
Either give it infinite health or just make it do no damage to the barrel

Nah it usually takes a bunch of hits to knock out, but this one is just one and done. Happened thrice so it could just be a bug.

It’s been ages since I’ve lost a gun, it’s hard to do

ShermanBarrel

Barrel shots happened IRL. The only difference is no one in RL has had as much practice and precision aiming under combat conditions.

Uhh yes clearly they can get shot. Do you actually think the enemy was TRYING to hit the barrel though? Of course not.

I imagine they were definitely trying; if they thought they had no chance in hell of penning the armor itself.

tbh if they’re shooting at the side as they clearly were, they would have just shot the side under the turret.
Center mass is what was taught iirc

A side on shot to a sherman? No. The side of the turret would be cheese. Tanks are not that accurate at range to hit a couple inch wide tube

Same with the breaches from a 50mm on the jumbo didn’t damage anything else besides the breach I think it’s a bug on that whole thing

Tankers were taught to at aim center mass not barrels

Exactly… they were taught to hit the tank itself as people in RL are not as accurate or as practiced as Players playing a game. If you want accurate results, nerf accuracy, and players ability to be as good as they are; which, I don’t think very many people would want.

So… we get some interesting hail mary shots being common place and weak points being exploited.

›Nerf main gun accuracy
lolno
BUT
I’d be behind making the coax and pintle slightly more inaccurate

Or… people just need to understand this is in no way RL.

From what I’ve read, Italians in M13s would aim at Sherman suspensions (which still can’t take damage in game) knowing they couldn’t pen.

But there could be a lot of explanations for that image. Firing on the move, the gun being off target and it being a miracle shot, etc.

I have seen a few different barrel shot results. Sure, they were a fluke; however, it did happen and could happen if a Soldier actually was capable of pulling off the shot or got extremely lucky.

On the flip side, hell a lot of tankers bailed at the first sign of distress. Something that never happens in game.

Probably a fluke, or bug. Personally never seen it happen here in Enlisted during player matches aside from the one time I saw a friendly racing to the backline with his barrel splintered. I have tested it out in the practice range, it takes a few rounds to destroy the barrel, even more when using belts or AT rifles. It kinda doesn’t matter though, for most of the tanks, as long as you get that first shot off in the turret itself, where the gunner is at, you’ll disable them for a short time anyways.
