Yeah that’s why I’m more convinced it was a bug with the Sherman’s barrel being too weak
Still doesn’t hurt to make the thread because I really don’t want the WT meta coming to Enlisted

barrelsniping wasnt a thing? not purposly, no, but it happend often enough
plenty of cases where the barrel was shot, this is just a few examples i found with a 3 secound search
I hear you. I could never pen any armor I was against, so i’d smash the barrel and then we’d wrestle a bit until a teammate would come over and break up the fight. I’d hate to see that here.
If people are taking the several difficult shots to destroy your barrel in this game then you deserve to die, that’s it. It’s not easy to hit barrels in this game and often has no effect at all. If you let yourself get disabled by enemy tanks that’s on you, full stop.
Well then it sounds like you just got straight outplayed. Most of the time I play tanks in this game we are firing at each other while barely visible or exposed and shaking to throw off their shot. I’ve have yet to see a barrel get destroyed unless they already got flanked and were pretty much already dead.
He could have OHK me since we were engaged at less than 15m completely exposed to the other.
I don’t mind the muzzle brake catching one cross map because that happens, but absolutely fuck shitters who go for the barrel when you can just kill them outright.
That’s not being outplayed, that’s getting frustrated by dying to someone you know is bad at the game
I’m still figuring the whole barrel getting one shot is unintended though because you have to absolutely hammer them with any other tank.
The AT rifle is fantastic for taking out barrels, that’s my secret strat
Yeah but it’s certainly not one shot
Try it out with the ptrd, at close distance it breaks everything it hits with one shot
Tbh I never thought to just shoot the barrel when I could pen and kill the tank outright
I’ll try it next time I play Moscow
I didn’t know you could break them. I mean, why waste time shooting the barrel. I just go for the kill shot and be done with it lol
This might have been done after the battle to make tank unrecoverable.
Not as practiced as players playing a game, wtf are you talking about lol.
He means that most of real crews didn’t had thousands of hours of battle experience. Most of the war is not spend in battles, most of the crews didn’t survive all that long. WT has a lot of meta-mechanics in this respect, like actual tanker would hardly know where to shoot at 200+ different tanks.
maybe, but thats something we dont really know nor can find out i guess
I wouldn’t consider any warthunder player more practiced or better than an actual tank crew, yes we have some meta knowledge but nothing comes even a little bit close to being in a freezing cold, or burning hot machine where each crew member has their own mind, where you can’t simply point and click to shoot. Imagine trying to snipe a target ins a specific spot when your gun sights aren’t 100% accurate, you have to manually hand crank or rely on a a hydraulic system to move your aim up and down. Yes we have the bigger overarching view of how it all works, but we are in no way more practiced then any real tank crew from the present, past, or future.
You either don’t understand his point, or don’t want to…
WT players are much more practiced in the game than real life tank crews were practiced in real life operation of a tank. Which makes them more effective in the game compared to the effectiveness of real life tank crews in real life situations. At the very least, because players spend a lot more time in simulated battles, and the price of error is almost zero, which allows you to learn from your own mistakes - a luxury most tank crews in real life just couldn’t afford because, you know, they died after the first attempt. And also precisely because of the fact that you mention - in real life fighting in a tank is much, much more complex and difficult than it is in the game, and being efficient in it is much, much harder.
No one is comparing them directly, or claims that in-game experience somehow translates into being better in real life tank combat, lol.
problem is german tanks seem to eat 6-7 rounds of AP and take no damage. or they have a det pack go off on top of the deck and it says no casualties its kinda pointless to even shoot at german tanks. like how many times do i need to hit a puma or panzer 4 ammo before it does something?
Incredible I’m seeing it more and more even playing the Panther
People repeatedly knocking my barrel out with a single round
