Japanese tree ends at 4th tier, very logical.
Some people suggested type hei against m2 carbine.
Type hei equivalent to m2 carbine this means tier 5.
If you put it into tier 4 murican players will cry and whine
If you put it into tier 5, japanese are guaranteed to be crashed by muricans
Japanese have nothing to counter tier 5 murican tanks, planes or mgs .
You can not find anything even experimental tanks to counter pershing in japanese arsenal unless you go full in sci fi and somehow add o-i super tank.
I think tiers are redundant and convoluted.
This a WW2 sandbox. And there are tons of content from famous and mass produced to rare and experimental

There is Ho-Ri, and you literally gave one example the o-i.
For planes and mg, there is. War Thunder literally have a bunch of high br imperial Japanese plane. For mg, they can just use aircraft mg converted for ground use.

The O-I was 120 tons, with a crew of 11. That’s almost three times bigger than the Pershing. Only one prototype was built and I can’t find any evidence that they even completed that single tank, as it was scrapped in 1943 and there’s almost no documentation on it.
As for the Ho-Ri, none were ever built. It never left the designer’s sketchbook.
The Chi-To did actually have two completed prototypes, on the other hand. They had 75mm armor and a 75mm gun. Theoretically it could have been viable, but with only two built and them never having seen action, I think that’s stretching too far to make it Japan’s go to answer for the Pershing in game.
So that brings us to the Chi-Nu, which didn’t see combat either, but at least had “a lot” (comparatively) built: somewhere between 144-166 were built, but reserved for defense of the home islands. But with an armor thickness of 25-50mm, it may as well not have any at all, because the Pershing has a 90mm gun.
The only way to make it competitive would be to lock the Pershing from fighting in the Pacific

Yeah, but a random gun finding it’s way onto the front is more believable than behemoths that even the generals didn’t have the pull to get them delivered to the front. And not just because they weren’t made, but also because the Japanese high command reserved all of the new stuff to defend the homeland only

There’s no definitive reason why it should end up only on tier 5.
So this suggestion is purely based on incompetent speculations. This guys probably just don’t like idea of this weapon. So he made up several selfish pointless arguments without any real value, why it shouldn’t be added into game.
In my eyes, this topic is just complete nonsense.
Still doesn’t matter. Japan is already having a bunch of prototype. Giving it 1% more believable by excluding behemoths does nothing.

There were 10-25 Type Otsu rifles made. There were 50 Type Hei rifles made. There were 125 Type 4 rifles made.
These numbers are so low as to be virtually nonexistent. The fact that they were put into the Japanese progression tree is an admission that paper weapons are necessary for balance and equipment parity, and I don’t see why that should stop at small arms. Might as well go all the way to the Type 61.

I hope enlisted stays pure WW2 as long as possible. Since I will probably quit once it enters korean war/cold war era.
I don’t want to see stuff like tigers vs PT-76 like in WT. That’s why I quit playing WT in the first place.

I’m not really a tank expert, so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance. From what I’ve gleaned it seems like the earliest “match” with the Pershing/Super Pershing. If there are earlier equivalents then I suppose that would be an acceptable end point.
I am neither, but according to wiki type 61 was manufactured in 1961–1973.
Looking more closely at the WT tree, maybe the Ho-Ri would be sufficient with its 105mm long gun.

o-i is not in War Thunder now doesn’t mean it won’t be added in the future. It is not like Japan tech tree will expand to top tier immediately.
