I like realism as much as the next guy, however if you’re looking for true realism, then play games like rising storm 2, red orchestra 2, post scriptum, insurgency sandstorm, hell let loose, etc. because this is just semi realism.
By “historical accuracy” Im guessing you want the ppk and mp41 removed right? since the ppk only had about 200 made and the mp41 was only used by the ss. You also want it so your tank breaks down or runs out of fuel or if you take a shot, regardless of damage you get taken out of the battle. Then why not make it so if the Germans won a battle IRL they also have to win the battle in game no matter what
Actually, I want the German premium squad to be SS. Jokes aside, the MP41 was also used by the Romanians, and there is some evidence to suggest that they might have been used by the Wehrmacht as well. There were also over 26000 of these, so they would have been spread pretty much all over.
Fun fact there was already an ss unit. In the berlin test the king tiger squad was an ss one that was censored

You have to draw an extremely subjective line at some point when you’re determining what is and isn’t realism.
Prioritizing balance at least has a stronger degree of objectivity to it.

I agree but it will be a huge nerf to german teams if devs dont give them more fortifications. Germans lacked automatic and semi automatic weapons and relied on fortifications and taktics. Now im not defending them, I play mostly allies Im just talking about game balance
At this stage of the war Germany mostly relied on mobility and cutting supply lines.
If we want to model that, there would have to be some supply depot at the back of the soviet side and if that is destroyed the Soviets spawn with 90% reduced ammo, and limited fuel for tanks.
But people would have that because it isnt fun
So why are we talking about adding stupidly OP tanks that would require artificial nerfing (removing the sights) to even make it remotely considerable to add them? How will that be fun for either side?
I dont think we have to copy the whole ww2, we all know who won that war and battles will not be enjoyable. I see realism in this game as a small factor, not huge change
See RO2’s game mechanism. It balanced well between realism and fun.
yeah ros2 vietnam all these are asymetrical but much fun especially the campaign mode which makes you feel as if you are in a real war and wins and loss makes drastic outcome
Looking through an open breech to aim the gun, then reloading and firing while hoping the enemy didn’t move does sound different and fun. Probably need to have view ports or something similar for the machine gunners, though.
That guy can look out of the hatch and aim/shoot with his feet
Literally every crewmate would be killable through hatches
Also you would not be able to load a shell until you are ready to fire, and you would have practically 1 degree FoV when in gunner view, making it practically undrivable without swapping to driver.
