Dispersion

nonsense

This is false, dispersion didn’t nerf Smgs, increased damage drop did. Instead dispersion nerfed slow firing mid range weapons like semi auto rifles, because they rely on accuracy to be effective.

Okay, So as someone who handles and deals with firearms IRL.

Guns… don’t just magically shoot fully where you put them, they have drop, While rifling does help keep them centered on where you are shooting (which is why musket battles were so close range.) they can still hit off target by a bit depending on: travel time, type of round, weapon in general, and the shooter, As well as recoil.

Dispersion is a very realistic thing to expect, Now if your standing a few feet from a target and your shooting let’s say .308, that’s more then likely going to hit right on point where that weapon was pointed towards.

Most battle’s in enlisted are mid range to video game shotgun range, There’s explosion’s going off, the soldier might not even be all that well used to the weapon depending on things. Leading to more shots not hitting where the soldier was aimming.

Realistically: Yes Dispersion should be here.
gameplay wise: yes dispersion should be here… Let me ask: do you want to be laser cut down by MKB/Feds as a level 2 with your Bolt action while you have basically zero chance to do anything?

Plus Ron here also brought up another good thing about it.

Now, I am no firearm expert, But the thing about tank guns is the shell is kinda built to stay on point, But my understanding of modern day tank and their shells are very limited, So I can’t speak on the matter fully and might be wrong.

Spread is still a thing in modern day? a rifled barrel helps but… A spinning item that isn’t locked on a single point (such as stuck in a barrel) can still go slightly off target.

This
It’s a lazy attempt to simulate irl conditions and it turns out as artificial.

More apropriet way to do this would be animation of sway and sights misaligment. This way you would still miss (needed for balance) but the gun would work as expected. But community is retarded and can’t cope with anything but a static monohromatic image so enjoy bullets leaving the barrel at 45° in some cases.

Yes. the longer and more stable the barrel is, the less spread you will have.

Obviously lack of stability will give you a less accurate shot and there are many things that could act as variables to that.

As far as barrel length, its one of the reasons that sniper rifles are used for precision.
Longer barrel = less spread.

Additionally, the amount of pressure behind the round also helps with accuracy (by means of velocity).
More pressure = less spread.

In the case of many sniper rifles, where it is bolt action, the chamber stays sealed putting more pressure behind the round (tanks are the same way).
However, semi-auto and full-auto weapons open the chamber very rapidly upon firing in order to chamber the next round. This release of pressure from the back results in less pressure to propel the bullet forward, resulting in lower velocity and more spread.

Remember that the lower velocity of the bullet, the more effect that wind, gravity, and other environmental changes (such as explosions) can effect the bullet’s trajectory.

As a person that did shot ww2 guns, and other weapons in general and understand the concept of min of angle/dispersion, there are guns in enlisted with less dispersion than real counterparts while shooting.

Just saying.

Makes sense in the long run, Games gotta be fun and can still be realistic, or you get stuff like tarkov.

There’s nothing wrong with tarkov you should not be allowed to run into a kill zone.

i think what it comes down to is balance, no one wants a meta weapon or even class of weapons dominating the game

Stop bringing up balance no one cares about it the only thing that matters is you should not be allowed to run into a kill zone unless you clear it out.

And because you say balance it doesn’t really help anything it’s not some magical Cure all We keep using balance for everything and so far I think we’re driving The game into the ground With all of this lovely balance we keep using.

well what do you want, reality nope, balance nope
don’t say fun because that subjective
i don’t find it fun being sniped halfway across the map because someone found the perfect place to position a mg nest
no its not a magic word but it allows a game to have multiple play styles, and believe it or not that means more players
everybody complains about the bot issue 19 out of twenty games with a high skill floor and even higher skill ceiling… fail yeah from, softs newest game was a hit, but most of them are not, that’s why balance is important, yes few people want a race to the finish but they still outnumber the people who want this to be a mill sim

Balance is a good thing when it’s applied in the right places but where they’re applying it right now it’s not helping and we should not be allowed to run out in the middle of a kill zone we should be able to strategically wipe them out instead of just pushing into it and Zerg rushing it.

Which is why everyone uses SMGs, SFs and ARs…

Sir, zeroing exist, IRL dispersion exist when you use a Smoothbore weapon like most of the shotgun, but for other weapon, you should expect them to hit where you are aiming at after correct zeroing it

You can’t tell me sniper/marksman rifles has “dispersion” when each shots you can improves its grouping by studying the trajectory and the condition you are shooting the gun?

Hell the Finns are known to have the best marksman training in WWII and Mr.White Death doesn’t even use a Scope to be accurate with the rifle, or his Suomi KP31 SMG

Good old dispersion. I dont mind it on certain weapons because sure, its a thing, but at the ranges in enlisted some of these weapons Id expect to hit everytime, especially a human sized target. (Rifles anyway…all i have had the pleasure of owning)

While yes Zeroing exists, That doesn’t fully count for: The wind, The weapon it’s self, and I mean… it’s rather easy to knock your rifle into shit when your fighting CQC as your trying to survive, Simply put, I’d not be shocked if a weapon were to fall into non-zeros alot in combat vs keeping zero.

Plus with a sniper, they’re alot more stable, careful, And don’t fully move around as much as normal soldiers leading to their zero being kept and easily being correctable, Yet bullet drop and wind as well as the battle around them, Explosions still send a shockwave that can mess your aim off.

I mean naval shells have dispersion, Tank shells too.

Range, conductions of the battlefield, soldier, and weapon, Training, And the weather.

A rifle that’s been sitting rusting in a bunker ready to be called back to action, I’d expect to have alot of issues vs a fresh off the line rifle.

But that doesn’t really effect enlisted as a whole.

The over all TLDR point:
Dispersion is a realistic thing over all, And as someone pointed out here, Seems better then some of the real firearms.

Ok, I will make an exception if the cone is reduced to almost a straight line.

Bruh the fking wind doesn’t make the bullet go 45° out of the barrel in target range even you are shooting under hurracaine and tornado effect, you can’t seriously tells me the Wind has that much effect under 100m distance while the bullet travels more than the speed of sound(300m/s+), you bullet legit arrive in 1/3 of the time to a 100m target
