Both me and @VoyoMayPL maid a ton of suggestions asking for sandbag MG-42 to be removed and replaced with nation unique MG’s like M1919 on tripod for USA, Shielded Maxim for USSR, MG-34 and MG-42 on laffete mount for Germans. We both had a ton of positive feedback and a lot of players wanted this problem fixed and OBT comes and you devs just IGNORE IT??
You introduce a new map where you put an MG-42 inside the Russian bunker??
Also, MG-42 never saw service in 1941, it was introduced in 1942
It was also never mounted inside soviet bunkers
My proposal is to put an M1910 Maxim in that bunker
Small dev team means they cant always get everything in as quickly as we’d like. Balance is more important than cosmetics atm and I’d say they’ve focused on that for launch. Also, the MG42 was around earlier than 1942 in military service, it just didn’t get officially adopted by the Germans until 1942 when it completed “field trials” (under actual combat fire lol).
I do actually stand corrected. The official designation for them then would’ve been MG 39/41 in their prototype forms. They were basically MG42s though. Ian goes into the process in detail here for the first 5 minuites or so of the video: https://youtu.be/OVPxZdBxUJU
Well tchof, to be fair, I do recall posts from months ago where they said they will re-do a lot of models to look historically accurate and nation-specific, such as tank insides, sand bag models and so on.
I think machine guns will definitely be on this list too. I mean, I hope they wouldn’t give something as least important as sand bags a nation specific look yet ignore machine guns… would they?
I’m not against you, I just don’t think they’ll ignore it and leave mg42 in every nation’s hands.
A lot of people have complained about mg nests in the previous months and even your polls regarding them had some mixed views.
I don’t think they’re going just with majority votes here, they’re likely re-working them. I agree a bit of transparency over this issue would be welcome though.
Currently mg42 is most definitely their default placeholder, for pretty much anything. I recall you said it yourself that they even use it on ships in normandy.
I think they don’t consider it a high priority, but the fact that they took it down without saying anything definitely shows they’re thinking about what to do with it and don’t have anything set in stone yet
