Deserters Suck

They left after the first point lost.

We need way more serious penalties for such cowardry.

Sorry to be so emotional, not my usual style. But for fuck’s sake. Play the damn game!

Testing the new recruit bundle.
This is the battle I tried in 38 minutes.
I didn’t have any chance to test the tanks at all.
Forced to use unskilled, unequipped infantry as babysitters for these “things”.

And what you are complaining about has been going on here for nearly 4 years.
Wanted escape, no timely construction of respawn points, wasted engineer capabilities, no care for victory or defeat, refusal to work as a team, repeated requests for services from others, worthless sniping.
This is what many players expect and what developers acquiesce to, which is why there has been no relief or correction in 4 years.
Many of the good ideas and mechanisms proposed by players and cm/helper have been shelved for a long time, in the blueprint, or difficult to deliver.

The real core issue is that the developers have consistently failed to introduce a map and mode selection filter. This game is filled with terrible maps and massive five-point conquest modes, and currently, the only way to avoid these awful maps and modes is by deserting. This is also why a deserter penalty has never been introduced in the game.

Under the current terrible matchmaking system, getting stuck on massive maps with five capture points means spending an entire game seeing only a handful of enemies and running a marathon between points. This kind of experience will drive even more players to uninstall the game.

These mechanics are already in the works.
These mechanics have been discussed for the past few years.
The developers have been working on these mechanics for the past few months (almost 5 months now).
While some documentation for these mechanics has been available in the test server and client several times in the past, they are not yet complete.
You will only be told that it will come when the time is right.

My free time is limited. I want to play defense and conquest, not offense.

Enlisted is a game, and it’s meant to be fun. And offense isn’t fun for me.

Desertion is my only option.

So many excuses and words when it’s all basically just: “I am way too special so I can bypass this system at the expense of other players”.

Penalties for desertion should be in game on day 1. And it has nothing to do with MM or map pool.

Nothing less than exploitation of system/game - which is against TOS.

Can’t wait for the penalties for desertion. They worked perfectly during the last event.

Obviously, now they’re just waiting for the preferential feature regarding map/game modes to implement them.

I actually played a game the other day or attempted to…

Guess im still a deserter, imagine me keeping this match open the entire time so that i wouldnt get a deserter penalty.

should have tried mounting the MG before leaving

people who say that deserters are selfish are saying that without realizing what they want is as selfish as they claim the other side to be. no deserters shouldn’t be punished more i don’t want to carry a team of blueberries that are all circling around the point and not even trying to contest it after working an 8 hour shift for minimum wage

It can be easily solved by allowing people to quit one match in a certain amount of time (for example 3 hours) without any penalty.

It’s not about those people. The problem is the constantly deserting dudes who use desertion as a way to bypass the system for their own benefit.

(there are currently numerous benefits you can get from desertion - from skipping the map you don’t like to keeping your WR artificially high)

And that type of person does it far more often than just one at a time.

So your argument is not reasonable.

You’re missing the point—the desertion mechanic is just a fig leaf for the game’s terrible maps and broken modes. If players couldn’t quit from the start, the game’s worst, most shoddily designed maps would be laid bare, and this game probably would’ve been dead by now.

The solution is simple: give us a map and mode filter, and we’ll accept deserter penalties. Not everyone is like you, masochistically trudging through a five-point conquest mode for 20 minutes just to wait for the game to end. Most people have jobs, studies, and responsibilities—they don’t have time to waste on this.

They really do, Im beginning to like my idea to give then a secret debuff for the queue, like someone who commonly deserts is up to 10% more likely to get an uptier, meaning in turn you can reward players who stick out the matches with more downtiers.

If I thought the game had so many bad maps, I wouldn’t be wasting my time with the game. Cry more.

The only really bad map is tunnel village in Tunisia.

I’m definitely not missing any points. In the current state of the game, deserters have more benefits than people trying to play the game properly.

And whoever is advocating for something like this is more concerned with their own good than a good of the game.

People mainly desert because of maps they don’t like, game modes they don’t like, or they feel they are the only person (Or one of the few people) on the team playing the objective.

The first 2 problems can be fixed by just letting players choose game modes and map preferences. The 3rd problem just is what it is, this is just the average Enlisted experience, especially for those that solo queue.

The number of people that desert because they care about a winrate stat is probably very low. I think I have ran into literally only 1 person in my entire 4 or whatever years of playing this game that openly talked about caring about their winrate stat. (Obviously my experience is not universal, maybe I just have been lucky to have not had to witness that many of these types of people)

(Caring about winning and caring about winrate stat are not the same thing, winning gives you more XP which is why people obviously prefer to win matches. I doubt many people care about winning specifically because they get a big win score in their stat sheet)

Your right about the first point, we all know that however,

Your last point there, just nah, those people are extremely common, like in WT as well, some people are way too protective of especially their win rates.

There are way more to reasons to desert than the ones you mentioned.

Because when desertion is unpunished, even pathetic reasons like “someone took tank slots when I wanted to play tank” is good enough reason for someone to quite the match.

Unpunished desertion is nothing less than beneficial exploitation of system. And it’s pathetic to try justify something like that.

Yeah if someone deserts because they don’t get to use a vehicle yeah that is extremely pathetic

I think your reasoning is highly illogical and short sighted if not entirely selfish.

Time is of the essence, Imagine you have 1~ hour to play, your battle pass objective says capture one point, you’ve played 2 games defending the point, you have 15minutes (of the hour of playtime) left to complete the battle pass task.

You load into your 3rd match in a row of defending, knowing you only have 15minutes left. Do you desert in hopes of finally getting a match that you’re attacking in or do you stay in the current match, having your time limit expire and thus not completing the task. (because work/school/home life doesn’t allow anymore time in the day to play it again).

WR ratio padding can be solved by including desertion stats, which is a more simple fix and nulls this from your future arguments.

The preferred map system includes the desertion penalties de-booster, it is -20% experience for 2 (or 3) games (this is still to be added).

If the desertion penalties were in place, I would have been given it for deserting simply because the game failed to load me incorrectly. If this gets pushed to be more extreme ie a time limit imposed… (which some of the events include) then a 5 minute timer-on top of a wait queue which can be upwards of 3 minutes would be beyond a joke and help in driving active players down.

Personally I don’t wish to waste my time when I’m soloing with a team seemingly being full of bots that have inadequate path finding and like to face the wrong direction, standing in the open catching bullets. My enjoyment can be had in better matched teams, however due to the times of day I play, the servers can seem quite dead.

Factoring in lag from the server since it can over ride the server selection in an attempt to give me better matched teams…

Due to where I am located in the world, NA server for me starts at 200ms of ping, so when the server overrides my selection of NA and decides to put me on EU (315ms) or RU (380ms+) the game goes from playable-ish to people teleporting or my screen showing that i shot them first but actually due to lag they have already shot me dead.

So TLDR, get off your high horse and try to see from other perspectives that these are only just a couple of reasons out of a handful that people desert and IMO have every right to desert, this is a game thats meant to be fun, not a chore, not a place to come and get completely shat on and leave you feeling bad.

PS. my WR is terrible, however it is entirely meaningless to me, its only going to get shown if i share it and theres so many stats missing from it that it could do with an overhaul.
