I got plenty of kills with AP mines last night, having dropped them in a doorway chokepoint. Not sure how they’re “useless”…
We should be always downed even with vitality. That’s the bare minimum, getting killed should be random depending how far we are from them mine.
well, i don’t run with vitality on 95% of my soldiers.
ironically, i give vitality only to mortar men, apc drivers, riders, flame troopers and occasionally, machine gunners if i can.
so i don’t know if the damage desync or what not.
or maybe i’m faster than the explosions… ( because i do run with many green speed perks )
like. unharmed. just a headache from the explosions effect.

I’ve actually survived 3-4 AP mines myself after upate, possibly due to sprinting or having the vitality perk. I’ve also seen AP mines take out 4 out of 7 of my squad members from an enemy mine near our rally, with 3 being knocked out, making ap mine trap useless

They work only now as trap on enemy rally…

the trouble with mines before is they feel cheap, at least before, killing a soldier without much chance of counter play
at least with other deaths they feel earned

I’ve played enough to agree they need de-nerfed. Not only have my mines not been killing people, but they’ve been killing ME and NOT the enemy who is closer to the mine than me. I just quit a match were a guy ran through a doorway where my mine was laid, stood damn near ON TOP of the mine, and proceeded to shoot me with a rifle grenade from 2 feet away, killing me, but somehow not him…
think that they needed to leave the AP mine as it is and should have introduced perk to detect mines. i mean so many weapons have been nerfed into oblivion cause of no counter play or cause they were buggy.
Yeah, let’s just introduce must have perk to solve bad design issue.
I have no clue who suggested to add mines into the game back then. But it was extremely unwise decision. I still don’t understand what they suppose to make better about the game.
There are only three ways people use them.

They put them in random doors, with the expectation that they will kill you as soon as you enter the door. That usually works. But you will still immediately respawn into your bot that’s 3 metres behind you. Wow, that free mine kill has definitely changed a lot.
It just frustrates you, since with how fast paced the game is, you really don’t bother checking every door. -
The defenders will completely randomly place those mines on the objectives. Preferably in some completely open area with grass, so even if you wanted to look for those mines (which like I said, no one does anyway), it would be pointless.
Meaning, yet again completely effortless kills for defenders, for which they just more or less paid for in the hangar. No skill was present. -
And then they use it for various rally point shenanigans. Which I personally consider a waste of time. And I don’t find anything fun about it.
I really don’t understand how adding a must have perk solves this problem.
It’s still going to be a completely unfun and annoying aspect of the game.
Mines are going to be visiblen for menow. Great. Will it make the game more fun? No, it won’t. I just needed to pick a perk that makes the mines completely useless.
That’s why I think the best option would be to just completely remove mines from the game.
Because the argument that it enhances some tactical aspect of the game strikes me as completely off, too. There’s nothing tactical about the mines.
On the contrary, if you want to block off a chocking point somewhere.
You can dig an anti-tank trench, or you can put barber wires and Czech hedgehogs against infantry.
everyone has aspect of the game that they find unfun. some people find getting killed by tanks unfun, some people find getting killed planes unfun, some people find getting killed by flamethrowers unfun etc.
we cant nerf every aspect of the game that is unfun for certain group of people into uselessness. i would rather have friendly fire, max carry/deploy limitation or perk to combat some annoying parts of the game, rather than nerfing them all into oblivion.
