BR3 is simply too high for ordinary bolt action rifles. Already as we speak, BR2 enjoys rifles such as the G98 War Mod and Air Service 1903 Springfield rifles, which are without a doubt some of the strongest bolt action rifles available in the game.
Many people enjoy the SMLE and VG2 rifles but due to their high BR requirement, the opportunities to use them are limited when other, more practical options become available.
While they are indeed capable rifles, I believe they would find a comfortable place within the BR2 tier against each other.
This. I can woop any bolt action with an M1 carbine or literally any BR2 semi: why keep the Enfield in BR3, where it’s unusable in Tunisia, when it was the single MOST USED RIFLE IN THAT THEATER! It was literally standard issue!
NO bolt action is so OP that it should be any higher than BR2.
Personally, I won’t be happy until over 50% of all deaths in game are from artillery and bombs, and my soldier has the chance to spawn in malnourished with trench foot and thus be unable to sprint. I must have arbitrary realism in my borderline arcade shooter.
I never will understood the people who want to sacrifice the basic playability of the game for “muh historical accuracy.” Sure, IRL VG2 was used late war, who cares?
Why do the people who oppose historical accuracy keep using this strawman
We are not asking for our soldiers having to use latrines in the middle of battle, or freezing to death in the cold, or catching a disease before they even hit the frontline
All we want is for weapons and vehicles to appear where they make sense and belong. It’s about maintaining atmosphere
Well “all we want” would fundamentally break the balance of the game. The Thompson is a good example, you should unlock those first I guess because they are the early war gun, the grease gun was the later war cheaper stamped replacement. I guess bye-bye to the M2 carbine because it was barely ever used in pacific let alone the European theater, just let axis dominate the allies with STGs and FG 42 II were not wildly used in reality. Completly rebalance the tiers to the point where nothing makes sense balance wise and I guess remove most gold order weapons and any of the paper tanks they are adding for balance.
Im sorry but if someone shoots you across the map with VG2 and you notice that it specifically was a VG2 and that’s what breaks your immersion, your a different kind of special.
That has always been the core of these debates. History vs balance. Personally I don’t think anything is too insurmountable in battle that would make it OP or break balance.
It’s like say you have an enemy KV tank, well if it’s not close enough to swarm you can just build an AT gun. Or you could just disable it’s tracks, then kill the crew when he pops out. The problem is solved either way.
Or regardless vehicles aren’t always impactful enough to the match overall and aren’t the end all be all. They are just a piece of the team. It all falls on your infantry.
I just think there is a dynamic chaotic balance that just works
The thing is at first they made the Pacific have no individual campaigns and everything was just thrown into the mix together. If maps and history were tied by BR then you would only have the M2 carbine in 1945 battles like Okinawa
I have never had a problem with rare, prototype, or experimental things. All I believe is that there should be some standards. For example, if it’s some prototype made in 1944 I don’t want to see it any earlier. I think the early SKS is BR 1 or 2. That means we have our late war Soviet prototype carbine in Moscow 1941. On the other end of the spectrum we have WW1 Federov and early discontinued AVS 36 in Berlin
Overall I think it would be at least worth to have a more historical mode or historical BR tested.
I even think the current BR would just need a few tweaks here and there to be passable historically
Fully agree: they need to bring back the mechs from the Titan rise event for starters. Also the moon battles. If we’re going to throw history out the window we might as well have fun with it.
Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. The merge update already lets the Volkssturm participate in Tunisia and Moscow. There will not be perfect realism anymore, so we should instead focus on how to improve the game and battle systems without it in mind.
