D-Day Battle from the Barges

Honestly the D-Day beach map is disappointing because it isn’t very realistic.

For starters, allied bombings and paratrooper drops were inaccurate due to the cloudy weather that doesn’t exist in Enlisted.

Also the fact that the game requires the German team to spawn not in the bunkers ready with the MG-42s and the allies spawning WAY too close to the bunkers makes for a disappointing D-Day landing simulation.

Another thing is that one of the loading screens shows marines pouring out of a barge as the ramp goes down, which is something that doesn’t happen in the actual game.

I also wish that there would be DD Shermans that start in the water.

Until the the creators listen to us, dedicated modders will just have to create it themselves.

marines weren’t at d-day, so it would be army which i believe marine uniform would be frog foot mostly

There are two pictures of US soldiers in an amphibious invasion.
One is of US Marines in the Pacific, and one of US army infantrymen on the D-Day beach.

There were very few US marines in Europe actually (you probably already knew that). They were all concentrated in the Pacific.

i know, the only thing i wasn’t sure about if they all used frog foot or went with army drab as the war went on because of expense

Both the army and the Marines used and tried frogfoot but gave up for a variety of reasons. The frogfoots the army had I think were given to combat engineers on the frontlines, and some marines had frogfoot in the Pacific.
In the Pacific the one piece frog-skin uniforms camouflaged well, but were reported to be hot and uncomfortable.

I agree that I think the current setup is rather odd, and could definitely use some improvement. Even perhaps as it’s own mode. I would love to have the landing craft actually play a part. In addition though, I think the corners of the bunkers that are blasted out to begin with currently need to start intact, and either require substantial explosive power to break open, or make them properly repairable.

The feeling of D-Day simply isn’t there right now. the fortifications actually presented a challenge, yet the representation here is a joke in comparison. Players usually swarm straight up the beach and the barbwire does very little if anything to stop them. In reality it required usage of Bangalore Torpedos and other tools to even break through past the beach. Clearing bunkers and trenches beyond that were their own issues, but the beach battle itself is greatly underplayed.

I remember in Battlefield 1 there was large scale warfront missions that came in several stages. I know players have suggested “historical battles” before, but I honestly think D-Day should get its own large scale mode like that. It would even allow usage of some of the longer range tactics and equipment that seem to lack purpose in the game currently.

There should be multiple capture zones that the allies have to capture while the Germans defend them. There should also be secondary objectives like artillery pieces that can be used by the Germans to shell the beach, and allied paratroopers must destroy them. There should also be some hedgerow fighting once the allies get off the beach.

25 years ago, Saving Private Ryan (film), still claimed to be one of the most accurate representations of DDay in film.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

My point is that the devs could definitely pull some ideas for the game from this film.

They scooped it up. If not for the capture speed, then the Americans are killed on the beach during the revival

Conkers have a more realistic D-Day landing than Enlisted, lol.

You are right, I think spawning on rally points wasn’t as effective during WWII as it is now as well. Very unrealistic.

Just like Panthers and Tigers driving around without their transmission craping out.

I just learned, one reason that they did away with the camouflaged uniforms for the US army in Europe, is that they looked a lot like some German uniforms, especially in the hedgerow fighting.
