Create a new class called "automatic rifleman"

I’ve seen a lot of posts complaining about the select fire spam and hell that dares to call itself BR V. I today have a solution, and a historically accurate one to boot. I present to you, an automatic rifleman. They were used in small numbers during WWII, maybe 2 - 4 in a squad (or less), mainly due to supply issues and the absolute cost of an automatic weapon (MGs and SMGs were cheaper and faster to produce).

So in game, it would be represented like an MG soldier. A max of 3 in a dedicated “automatic rifle squad”, and 1 can be issued to squads that take MGs in the upgrades section (I just suggested an MG because I’m pretty sure more squads accept MGs than assaulters).

Point is, you can’t spam them in 9 man squads, and it brings the gap between BR V and BR IV closer (the gap was mainly due to select fires, and I’m pretty sure the devs aren’t going to hardlock BR V to itself.)

Also, rifle grenade launchers needs to limit this class. (And roll back all nerfs)

No, I can and will spam)) But seriously, they are not essential for victory. In most cases, you can safely play with the same machine gunners or stormtroopers and still win.

They have already completely separated 3BR from 5BR, so I think it’s only a matter of time before 5BR is completely separated from all other BRs. I really hope sо.

I say yes to nerf of SF rifles, as they’re clearly overperforming any other weapon type on BR5 (and can be used by specialists).

But definitely not in form limitations or restrictions. But rather in form of stat changes.

Because full auto environment is what’s making BR5 unique. If you don’t like full auto environment, just don’t play BR5.

Okay, it needs to be nerfed too.

This is never going to happen probably because people have basically made the same suggestion for years and its never came.

But I wouldn’t create a whole new squad type for “Automatic Rifleman”. I would just make it an optional upgrade to the rifleman class, allowing you to turn a rifleman into an “Automatic Rifleman” and allowing 2 “Automatic Rifleman” per Rifle Squad, and 1 “Automatic Rifleman” per any other squad type. I would do the same with rifle grenades. Rebuff rifle grenades, but only allow 2 “Rifle Grenadiers” per Rifle Squad, and 1 per any other squad type.

Though honestly I don’t think full auto spam is the big problem with BR V. The problem with BR V is explosives spam. BR V is basically a walking simulator, not in the same sense as HLL or S44, but in the sense that basically you just walk and get blown up 90% of the match.

there used to be a “guard squad” in Berlin campaign, but people wanted SF rifles to be available to be everyone instead.

No,using semi-automatic weapons in BR5 is completely suicidal.And other squads will also be affected, they will be completely unusable.
Rifles themselves have the disadvantage of having a small magazine, and I believe that with the addition of better submachine guns and machine guns to the game, the gap between them will narrow.

not really.

it’s kinda on the developers for taking complaints regarding the FG given to machinegunners. and… totally blow it out of proportions.

and that squad didn’t existed outside one test alpha.

which not many people managed to get their hands on.

so they remove this classes ( with not many substantial feedback or test ) and scrapped it.

i believe they didn’t want to have a shotgunner situation 2.0 ( which as the name implies, only had access to shotguns )

If you don’t like SF don’t play br4 or br5 or 40 percent of the game because of one weapon

SF rifles should have awful recoil on full auto and only be useful for clearing out buildings. I don’t care if its the T20, the Hei auto, the AVS or the FG42, it’s ridiculous to have everybody laser beaming each other with weapons available to basically every class
