Cosmetics should be cosmetic only

Cosmetics shouldn’t give any competitive advantage to players.
The only advantage should be the camouflage helping the soldier blend in better with the surroundings such as the white camos in Moscow and Stalingrad campaigns.

Remove all advantages that cosmetic changes give to soldiers such as the body armour damage reduction.

I would like this none sense purged from the game preemptively before it could turn into a pay to win situation.

helmets and soviet body shields give some damage reduction

The Soviet body armor gives a slight reduction to damage. But so marginal, it’s not even worth to mention it.

if it’s only a few percent, it’s not that bad, I thought it would be worse, considering how generous df is when it comes to the percentages of other perks and upgrades.

it’s worth fighting it before it starts to become a problem though.

It overall seems unbelievable to me. Unless one looks it up here on the forum, there’s no awareness that, in terms of cosmetic elements, a helmet provides an advantage over fabric head coverings. The same goes for body armor, especially when it’s exclusively available to the Soviets. This is really strange and should be changed. Either remove any advantages from cosmetics, or make protective gear a part of the equipment.

Cosmetics should be cosmetic only but the idea of body armor itself is realistic and good, the problem is that today the armor is limited only to the Soviets, and that there are no disadvantages to its use (the weight of the armor should slow down the soldier’s movements). There are also no limits to its use, you can flood the map with soldiers where they can use the armor as cosmetic. It’s a good idea, but not yet fully developed.

I couldn’t care less, since the only faction with body armors are Soviets, and they’re getting totally wrecked both in Moscow and Berlin atm.
Don’t know about Stalingrad.

Seems like it’s really isn’t significant advantage. But I agree it’s another pay-for-advantage situation.

That is a player base issue which the merge should solve.

I don’t want to be harsh, but I have never encountered skilled Soviet mains.
They’re either 4 stacks which plays every faction or they are completely clueless.
And I do know what I am talking about.
Moscow, Berlin and Tunisia allies are the only faction I have not finished.

Those faction always relied on farming bots. If real players showed up, bot hunters are gone and pure mains basically do not exists.
This cannot be said about Japan, US and Germany. They all have skilled mains.

At least that’s my experience on EU server.

Not really i need to tryhard much harder to win as Axis than with Soviets that are just easy mode with op guns they have and full lobbies, while Axis side is deserted a lot of times.

Yesterday i lost 3 times in a row before getting off to bed even tho i was always the first on the scoreboard.

10% dmg reduction against bullets can save your ass in some situations and it stacks with 35% Vit, i remember at least 5 situations where i could survive with fraction of my hp because tank’s lmg, some enemy with smg couldn’t kill me or multiple times against bolties (or they were semis who knows). Soviets are way more powerful with 95% of their unlocks and 80% of premium packs when compared against Axis, it will get even worse with Fedorov paras.

If the merge isn’t enough, then we need better incentives to play for the underdog faction.
Im not really worried about Soviets since DF always gives the faction the toys they ask for.

Im more concerned about Japan and western allies not having any decent BR5 tank.
Yet somehow there are people on forum whose only issue is that BAR can’t be equipped on all infantry.

Seems like just personal experiences, since my experiences are basically exactly the same but for soviets.

That’s true, but in my opinion it has mot significant impact on overall game.
For example 4 vs 10+ slots are more significant pay to advantage problems than this.
Same goes for paras not being in free progression and so.

This body armor issue seems very pathetic and petty to me.

Adding other factions their ones would be fair since we have British and German armour assets.

Instead of thinking about 10% of damage, remember damage dropoff from distance of the shot.

Suddenly it’s (someone do math idc) like 5 more meters where You are not in inst-downed zone. Meaning someone shoots at you, you survive, you shoot them and they die with same guns.

If it’s so marginal why even bother adding it, it just spews this topics on forum every few weeks

Though some advantages exist with their cosmetics, all i see is a huge inbalance in Berlin. Soviets are losing significantly there. I dont see how their body armor matters.

yeah is that type of stuff that you wonder why is on the game when it works more as an object of discussion more than an actual useful thing, but I agree the armor effect should be removed or give other nations an equivalent
