Correct the Scotti Naval Rifle magazine capacity

Yeah, I’m like 90% sure now, the rifle as it is currently modeled ingame is too thin compared to the original blueprint, we can clearly see that the receiver is wider than the buttstock, while it should be the opposite (this video here gives a clear view):

And because of this small modeling mistake, as a result, the magwell too was also modeled too thin, and that’s why the designer chose to model a single stack mag, because a double stack mag wouldn’t fit in this model that is too thin, and it is also why the mag model looks like it can’t fit more than 10 rounds in it, but it should be a double stack with 20 rounds in it.

I dont know if this has been brought up but the magazine is offset to the right. by a good amount at least 30% meaning the magazine is at most 2/3 the width of the gun. you can see this in the original game model and the top of the schematic. now if the original gun is thick enough to fit a magazine 3 bullets side by side by side this is not an issue. as for 10 rounds did you count the magazine inside the stock. in many rifles like an iceberg a few rounds are hidden in the stock usual about five.

Should I send a message that gives links to my post ? Will this do it ? I never did that before, I prefer asking before doing this kind of thing.

idk could do that or ping them until they respond lol

@Euthymia07-live

Hi, we are certain that there is an error on the Scotti Naval Rifle magazine capacity. Could you please convey the topic from where I am writing to you, and also these posts on this other topic to the devs as proof ?

Thanks in advance !

Is my message above good enough ? Is that how you ping ? Sorry to ask, I am really not used to do all these kinds of things on a forum, that’s pretty much one of the only forums where I write things, and I’m sometimes not here for months.

Magazines for Scotti weapons of different designs, perhaps they can help.

I love the RPK-43, and would love it more with a bigger magazine and in the tech tree. :joy:

Wish we had such thorough discussions about Stinger mag capacity back in the day… lol

Interestingly, a similarly sized magazine from the same Scotty company was designed for 24 rounds.

Oh, this MG had a 24 round mag ? Thanks, I searched for this info, but couldn’t find it anywhere. Do you have other sources that can confirm this ?

Hah, the fact that I managed to find the characteristics of this machine gun is actually a miracle, I don’t have any other characteristics. Here is a link to the original Japanese document:

There are other photos but with a different magazine, I think for about 30 rounds.

Also, I am not very surprised that this MG had a 24 round mag, because the 6.5mm version looks a lot like a successor to the 8mm version that was made for tanks, but lost the competition in favour of the Breda 38. Testing recoil with stock soldiers + no crouching? No wonder you can’t control the FG 42

So I found a source discussing British tests of this weapon, I have already forwarded it to a community helper.

The big things are that the rate of fire is listed at 780-800 RPM. It also claims that the magazine capacities are for 25 and 50 rounds respectively, but they only tested the weapon with 15 rounds. Combine this with the Italian books claiming the large magazine holds 40 rounds, I believe the British tests are incorrect on the magazine capacity.

I think your illustration is correct. 20 rounds for the small magazine. 40 for the large one.

probably, while they were putting 25 rounds into the magazine, they broke the spring, which is why it stopped feeding more than fifteen rounds.

They literally only had 15 rounds of 6.5x52mm carcano to test the weapon, it’s not that they couldn’t fit any more into the magazine.
