One last thing: I also have a theory about the cutouts of the mag. As we can see, there are 10 cutouts on the side of the mag (the one that I am 90% sure is a 20 rounds double stack mag), these cutouts are made to check the number of rounds remaining inside the mag. But, if it is indeed a double stack (which I am sure of), then it is very likely that the cutouts would be asymmetrical on the two sides of the mag.
I am convinced that, because of the fact that the mag is a double stack type, then the bullets are stacked diagonally, as you can see here:
So, by that logic, there must be one cutout for each bullet, with one side of the mag showing the odd number bullets (1/3/5/7/9/11/13/15/17/19) and the opposite side showing the even number bullets (2/4/6/8/10/12/14/16/18/20), which would make a lot of sense in practical terms,
Although one side could also have one less cutout, because of the feed system of the mag, as you can see on the pic above, if the opening of the mag is narrowed to strictly feed one bullet at a time, to avoid feeding incidents that would let two bullets feed at the same time, but not all double stack mags have this feature, and we won’t know exactly if this feature was indeed on this mag or not.
I would move it to rank 2, and move the Madsen to rank 1, no way it would stay so high in the tree if this is implemented, lol.
Let’s see. It took us 2 years to get 5 extra rounds for the AVT 40. I wonder how quickly you can handle it.
If most of the devs are working on Active Matter, then we’ll probably have this content dripfeeding for 1 or 2 more years. Then, IF this suggestion is considered, and IF it is implemented, I don’t think it will be before 3 or 4 years, lol.
A little over 1 year since the denerf of FG42 actually.
But many other Soviet BR5 weapons were buffed before that (AVS-36, RD-44, Maxim-Tokarev, Fedorov Avtomat, Fedorov MG, AT-44,ect.)
Devs are allergic to changing the magazine on weapons and has never ever replaced a magazine on any weapon.
Most comically everyone supported AVT-40’s 15 round mag getting replaced with a 20 rounds one (I alone made 2 suggestions) but no it had to be a new weapon.
They did:
The Gerät. It used to have only 15 rounds per mag. Now it’s 20.
Just saying there’s no excuse not to make the Scotti correctly with 25 rounds or so.
Same goes for Winchester G30R, they increased its mag capacity as well.
I like having different weapons with different magazine choices, I just don’t play the Soviets so I didn’t feel the need to voice my opinion at the time, but I do preffer having the choice of what to go with.
Now, if someone were to suggest that the No. 4 Mk I Lee-Enfield should be replaced with a new version that reloads soley via magazine changes I would flip my lid. I don’t mind magazine loaded Enfields, or Webleys with speedloaders, I just want to have the choice to not use them, and keep using the rifles and revolvers I know and love from history the way they were intended to be used.
It would be cool to have magazines as “add ons” in slots, just like bayonets or scopes.
This way you would just need to buy your base AVT40 once, and switch the magazine add on depending on your preferences.
Same system could work with lmg belts.

Missed opportunity?
Different magazines need different animations which gets problematic very fast with the amount of guns in the game.
While the game devs are so lazy they didn’t even bother to just swap the beretta 38 (20) to 40 rounds version in old Moscow campaign or recent AVT.
So while it does Sound awesome, its just wishful thinking.
Do they, though?
Unless you look at them from the side, you hardly will see any difference…
Not to mention that, they ALREADY made all the necessary animations, for example with avt40 20 & 15… animation could simply follow the magazine add on. Wouldn’t be much different than just swapping the weapon entirely in your warehouse…
Yeah, huge missed opportunity, pretty much every shooter game does that. It would be so much better, to just unlock the capacity in the tree at a certain rank to use new mags, unstead of having to unlock the new gun again with just a different mag. Same could be said for guns with adjustable fire rate, or sniper rifles that were made with a variety of scopes (like the M1C and M1D Garand for example, both rifles could be equipped with a variety of scopes), or pretty much all other “accessories” or features that could be installed on a gun. But of course, there would be way less of these than on modern guns, because there is no picatinny rail, lol.
And yeah, the Lee Enfield sniper has an absolutely CURSED reload animation, the “mag” was never supposed to be removed, except maybe for maintenance. It wasn’t even really a mag, more like a “bullet holder” and nothing more. I have never even seen any experiments made by the british about a “mag-fed” Lee Enfield instead of the classic stripper clip reload. Man, the reload on the sniper Lee Enfield makes my eyes bleed…

Damn what game was it that had it now, I swear its a game that gets brought up on this forum so often too, I swear so many of us used to play it too… Villain’s and Private’s?
It was bullets, springs, canons in H&G.
Worked so well, it was fun because it made me revisit older, weaker guns often for the fun of it.
