Commercial guns for Japan

Hello bajtársak and fellow forum dwellers.

Out of all the factions in the game, Japan has the least guns.
Naturally players would like Japan to have more guns, but the amount of guns isn’t infinite, sooner or later DarkFlow will run out of Japanese guns, even prototypes and we are already scraping the barrel.

For battle pass, event and premium weapons, we could expand with non japanese manufactured firearms, instead of adding captured duplicates.

On one hand we have Japan with fewer guns than optimal and on the other we have Switzerland, a neutral country that produced many guns during the 1930s and 40s for anyone interested.

SIG MKMO

SIG KE-9 rifle

SIG model U rifle

All of these are amazing and interesting guns that are begging to be added to this game, but unfortunately since Switzerland did not participate in the conflict, these guns have no faction to add them to. Luckily these guns were sold to anyone interested, not just militaries but also private collectors and officers.

There are already many such weapons in the game, such as the Mauser C96 available to the Red army, most C96s in Russia were purchased privately before the Great War.
The Breda PG (CR) was manufactured by Italy but only used by Costa Rica, yet it is available to Axis as a gold order weapon.

I do admit, I have absolutely zero evidence of Japan using the guns I have listed.
BUT
By the rule of AS-44: only one gun has to exist to be added to the game.
By the rule of C96: A nation having the firearm through private purchase is fair game.
By the rule of Breda PG: the gun doesn’t even have to be used by faction at the time of the conflict, it just has to exist and loosely tied to the faction.

Japan kinda fulfils all of these requirements, so by these stupid rules set by itself DF, they are fair game.

Once again I’m not stating this would be optimal, more like a necessary compromise to keep faction rosters as unique as possible.

Japan received military exports from Switzerland during ww2. Admittedly I don’t know exactly what they received, but I think its fair that Japan gets more swiss weaponry. It might be more historically accurate to give swiss weapons to Germany, but Germany has tons of equipment to draw from while Japan really doesn’t.

Like you mentioned, Switzerland developed a lot of guns during the period of ww2. Japan could benefit from getting access to at least some of these. It does eventually put Japan at risk of having more foreign weapons than domestic, but it may be inevitable if they are to continue getting new content.

yeah, I did think of that too, but Germany can always get some prototype, not to mention weapons from their allies or occupied territories.

thanks for sharing this too.

This may very well be the only way to give them new equipment. They definitely could use more quality Rifles, Semi Autos, SMGs (maybe just one or two) AT (for higher BR) and vehicles. If they didn’t spend all of the equipment remaining they own and locally manufactured and produced as gold order/Premium instead of Tech Tree they would have had more too work off of that was made by Japan. It didn’t even have to be all of their equipment going to tech tree just the most iconic things that became premium and GO. The rest could have gone to those and the gaps filled with imports in both TT and Premium/Event and GO.

Edit: got to love those spelling mistakes! Lol

So would that mean that Swedish content is fair game for Germany since they were business partners

Knorr-Bremse MG is already in the game. So yeah.

Given that Finnish equipment is routinely being added to Germany’s gold order and premium library, yes its safe to say swedish equipment will be given to germany eventually. Sweden contributed tons of military equipment to Finland during the winter war.

Including:

  • Approximately 2,000,000,000 SEK (US$ ~312,658,890) of financial aid - twice the size of the Finnish defense budget at the time
  • 50,013,300 rounds of small arms ammunition
  • 135,402 rifles
  • 450 light machine guns
  • 347 machine guns
  • 301,846 artillery shells
  • 144 field guns
  • 92 anti-armor guns
  • 100 anti-aircraft guns
  • 300 sea mines
  • 500 depth charges
  • 83 motorcycles
  • 83 cars
  • 350 trucks
  • 13 tractors
  • 17 fighter aircraft
  • 5 light bombers
  • 1 transport aircraft
  • 3 reconnaissance aircraft

They should add the Kar98k, but name it the “Type Mo.” Same stats, same model, but some people are gonna complain that it’s the exact same things as the Kar98k, so they should give it a new texture.

Well there is some evidence
1930 Model 2
SIG MKMO 1930

So if we add SIG MKMO to Japan the SIG 1930 is the most realistic one cuz their puppet state Mengjiang actually used some of them according to Jowett, Philip S

Thank you for your post.

I support this idea. Japan to my knowledge already uses some Swiss and Austrian guns. So adding some more Swiss weapons wouldn’t ruin the game.

Indeed I’m reasonably confident other players will agree with me they would rather have real Swiss weapons then some nonsense Japanese prototype that was never more than a drawing.
