Commander game mode

I have an idea for a new squad I guess where you are like a general and you make orders that the rest of your team has to follow. Like you say to flank left as a command or for a tank to go into an area. Sorry if you don’t understand what I’m talking about but I’ll just go on and explain how getting xp might work. So of course it will be picked out randomly and you will start off with 100,000 xp and lets say you loose 100 xp for every casualty that occurs on your team. Or another way is that you get an assist for every kill that your team gets. And if you weren’t able to leave the game mode than that would just be cruel so if you do leave then a message will go out to your teammates about if they would like to become commander and if no one responds than no commander and if there are multiple requests for being commander it will again be picked out randomly.

I really like your idea!

However how could the devs make sure that:
The other players follow your orders? And if they don’t should they get punished?
How to make sure that a nasty commander doesn’t abuse the order system then.

Or are you talking about commanding full AI squads only?
If so I would insist that this new commander squad gets added and tested by the community one day.

However at the current state of AI behaviour this would cause a lot of problems (stuck soldiers, bad pathfinding, obstacles, windows)

From the words, he said commander that controlled the entire team (players) and inform the orders to other players to do the objectives

You want to introduce a commander role while we can’t even properly command our bots.

And who would listen to commander anyway? Adding a commander would require teamwork and use of tactics, both are lacking in the Enlisted. A massive change in the player base would be needed to make it work.

yeah its just the team doesnt like to listen to me even though I’m in like 1st place

Yeah I was thinking bout having a 500xp fine for not following orders and then about a nasty troll commander, I think that the team could kick the commander on a vote. And no I’m talking about real players and ai squads. And yeah the ai might be dumb but I don’t think that the ai is gonna get worse in the future. At least I hope.

Ah yes, give the team another way to not play the objective on top of how little they already play the objective

true but there’s gonna be a fine of 500 xp for every order that is not followed so if you dont follow orders a couple of times thats gonna be 1000s of xp thats lost maybe its not going to be very too bad if you get like 50000k xp. Anyways yeah the player base is probably full of trolls

well if they dont then they would have a fine like 500xp then 1000xp fine for not following orders the second time and so on and so on

And what if the commander sets objective in a place that is basically a death sentence? Like the middle of a field.
You proposed votekick but it will take half a match to complete it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to see sth like this but it just doesn’t fit in Enlisted at all. This game is about zergrush and grenade spam, not about tactic and cooperation.

Actuallt a while ago I was thinking about a game that would combine RTS, FPS and commanding your AI squad. (So one-two players would command the battle, while the test of the players would be fighting in it. Fighting players would be able to chose if they want to fight as a squad commander or as a lone soldier. It would be a nightmare to balance but I don’t care.) I thought Enlisted will be this game but well, we all see what it is.

I see where your going but I mean the more deaths there are the more xp they’ll loose and of course there are some maniacs who don’t care about that like the fucking joker. but maybe there could be a General then a commander whos another one of the players on the ground and they would be like a person who follows orders but if the order is too goofy then they could like veto that order.

Option to refuse the order one a while, would be quite a nice solution.

I say that soldiers not following orders are to be shot and receive exp penalty for their campaign progress.

No you should never ever give a player control over how much xp another player loses, i could just set it in the very corner of the map and the entire team would lose anything they would have made but then you’re literally also punishing tanks, planes, snipers, lmgs, mortars, radioman, engineers, basically anyone that isn’t a assault or rifleman

yeah but you could see what types of squads your team has and you give like personal orders to them

like riflemen, assulters, etc flame troopers go to the point while more passive squads stay in like the forest or a field with a squad of infantry supporting them.
