Wow xD now this is very cheap try.
I guess literally copying mechanics 1 to 1 is equal to nonsense you have just said.

Remove APC spawn mechanic because it is coppied from BF, HLL, H&G and probalby somewere else.
Because copying stuff that works is bad because Adamnpee said so and we must oblige.
No, it as not. Dispersion is different, visual and normal recoils are different, suppression.
Stop lying lol
So I’m not coppying BF because my mortars will have different damage, different dispersion, different avalability, diffrent way of restocking ammo, FP view etc.
Just stop making BS already.
I think @VoyoMayPL as a point. I would like to have a setup that allows me to instruct the AI to fire the mortars. But @Adamnpee has a point too, where just replicating the map mechanism might be a bit lame and duplicative vs. Artillery strikes.
How about connecting mortars to binoculars?
So long as you are controlling any trooper in the mortar squad and have binoculars, looking through them allows you to direct fire of the mortar troopers by view + click. Downside: you need to see the target.
Or you shoot them the old fashioned way.
I like the way they work currently, there’s a sort of “imprecision” that is refreshing to see, makes using mortars part guess work, and something that takes a bit of time.
you should be able to order your squadmates to simultaniously fire, or to simply carry extra shells rather than an entire tube to themselves.
Here is the thing though:
These are mechanics from previous Battlefield games that were extremely popular, but due to being old games, the player base kept moving on to the new ones.
HOWEVER, when Battlefield 2042 came out, and they shifted their gameplay model over to a CoD type of style, all the players that enjoyed the game mechanics which we are describing got displaced from that franchise.
How does this effect Enlisted?
Because time and again the devs and forum members keeps talking about not having a large enough player base.
So while you might not think its necessary, I very much do. A few small changes could bring a massive influx of new players.
I actually am working on making a post about reworking artillery that I think would be the necessary change. You should check it out, I should have it posted rather soon.
yes, 15v15 would be great, even with 2-3 bots thrown in per team
I would double the range of the mortars. Just aiming is cool. It’s not realistic because you don’t use aiming mechanisms, but it’s not that problematic.
well, in the alpha the mortar used to work like that.
where you had a dot on the map and you were able to make it fire similar to bf1.
but it was deemed too easy to use and too effective.
( only footage that i could find alive to this day proving that it was )
so they opted to make it semi realistic. as you don’t go in third person anymore.
so we should expect a rework for radio squad, since clicking on the map with them is also super easy&effective.
otherwise it doesn’t make sense why was this removed.
I didn’t know that mortars do have significant cooldown.
There’s no reason to buff mortars whatsoever. Encouraging camping clicker gameplay is just terrible idea.
Mortars should never become meta.
honestly,
i don’t mind it.
but i would really love like they do in easy red 2 where you have to place the fire call you want through binocles, switch to the radio operator, and through a command wheel, have to click the right numbers to form the call / select the right coordinates of numbers through a radial menu.
that way would somewhat require effort, time and generally, more awareness.
but i doubt it will get introduced because this game is too arcady anyway.
and the run and gun warriors would dislike it as too effort to press few buttons for their playstyle.
it is what it is.
that moment when you realize easy red has better squad commands… better uniforms… better realistic yet arcady features… but whatever… give enlisted at least the graphic though. and… perhaps being less clunky )
If such is going to implement, it is necessary for mortars to have red circle on minimap just like artillery has.
eh… do we though?
because the red circle would fuck up with ai as they tend to avoid it.
so a player can play the " terror " tactic by just sitting on the mortar even if they don’t have ammo, and let the enemy see a red dot so they may be conflicted on going there or not. let alone AI won’t actually go there
I don’t really care about AIs. There’s no difference if AIs are going to die by unpredictable explosion or get scared to death by red circle.
I want some mechanic that could prevent me to fight back/avoid mortars. That’s all.
If this change would be implemented, it would make mortars extremely powerful and versatile. Especially since you can build ammo box next to it and just throwing shtts on enemy 24/7.
Otherwise it would be way more toxic than classic greyzone campers in tanks.
but… why
they aren’t ( thankfully i guess ) powerfull as they used to ( outside the soviet and german mortars, those are the cool mortars that can kill tanks )
but… i agree. i think we are better off without them.
i just don’t get the red circle thingy.
as a warning?
Yes, obviously. For players.
But only if OP’s suggestion is going to be implemented.
But for me personally, the current state of mortars is completely okay.
