Imo a distinct sould of mortar firing in your general direction (I guess 20m radious from the impact) should be enough. Travel time of the shell is so long it will give you a chance to move away from your current location.
So mortar either kills you or forces you to move (from cover). And you need to gample if it’s aiming at you or somebody else nearby.

I think the experience and technical needs of mortars should be retained
The game has simplified a lot of things for you. You can see the mark and distance directly on the HUD, you don’t need to calculate the artillery scale when aiming, and you have the ability to mount and fire an 80MM mortar in one second.
All you ask for is the ability to “click to destroy the enemies here”, which requires almost no intelligence, so I don’t like it
I dont mind the current system. The extra little step (and knowing how to place marker), as simple as it is, weeds out alot of “would be” mortar campers.
probably a good thing haha. Apart from a couple of friends, Ive seen a blue berry make use of the minimap marker maybe once or twice…in thousands of matches.
