This, unfortunately, never went beyond the wooden mockup phase. That picture is of a modern plastic scale model.

It’s been thoroughly discussed in War Thunder forum.

Thanks, should have looked closer

Neither did the Ho-Ri :upside_down_face:

So no problem, it’s the same case as Ho-Ri.
Plus I don’t understand the use of the term “sadly”.

Though HO-RI was modeled in WT this is not so there is little chance that this will be added but if it did it would be cool

The difference is hori prototype was tested and one was build out of 5, p43 dont even reached the prototype test stage, so is hard try to add something you dont even know how performed in real life and therefore how should perform in the game

I was there, in WT forum (and unofficial Discord) when the fuss was fully blowing.

The Italian community kept a close eye on the matter, since at the time we were jealous that Japanese tanks were being added before the introduction of Italy in the game.

Long story short, the “historical consultant” for Japanese tanks was very good at marketing her(him?)self as a super expert with exclusive access to Japanese military archives, thus also gathering unconditional support from a cheering crowd of Japanboos.

Despite an AWFUL LOT of doubts, skepticism and technical objections from a huge part of the community, including Japan supporters, she eventually persuaded those in charge that no less than 5 Ho-Ri, as we see them in game, were built in real steel as “production version” for defence of Japanese mainland… Except none was ever seen nor found, because all of them were dumped into a lake to prevent their capture from US forces.

Source being, quite literally, “Trust me bro©, I’ve seen the archives nobody except me is allowed access to”.

It’s actually impressive, because basically she managed to beat Gaijin at the “sekrit dokuments” game. That’s quite the feat.

Game wise, it’s a pity that the P.43 and P.43 bis were never a real thing. That lets Italy without competitive options in late war scenarios, unless resorting to German or US imported equipment.

(Also, in WT, the development of the Italian tech trees went the opposite way. Our consultants were adamant in excluding anything that wasn’t thoroughly documented as actually built and tested.)

Were there really such heated discussions about some mid BR tanks that nobody will play anyway? Since there are already tanks on those BRs that have post war ammo. And thus the armor (their biggest advantage) is more or less irrelevant.

Anyway I’d rather see blueprint tanks than copy pasted tanks in every tech tree.
For example, versions of US tanks are in all those trees.
Not like nationality matters much in WT.

You underestimate the civil war among Pastaboos

Well, I’m pretty heretical when it comes to all things Italian.

My only Italian preset in WT has no Italian tank:
Zrinyi, Pz IV and Sherman.

TLDR:

After Japanese tanks were mocked for being weak or fantasy prototypes, we didn’t want Italian tanks to suffer the same fate. But there were very few options for mid-BR stuff.

It was a triple dilemma: leaving the tree “purebred” with historical, Italian built machines only, but barebones and lacking options at various BRs (ultimately unfeasible); adding unfinished or paper projects, with a good amount of guesswork and fantasy; or filling the gaps with actually historical, yet copypaste, US and German stuff. Each option had its share of supporters and detractors.

Eventually Gaijin and the consultants chose the 3rd way, but trying to pick at least partly unique variants of the copypaste vehicles whenever possible.

This game has so many prototype and paper weapons that there is literally zero reason not to add the P43 as a premium or event vehicle.

Dont cite the deep magic to me, witch! I was there when it was written.

No butin all seriousness. I was there too and saw all the drama and in-fighting between the weeaboos and pastaboos. It hurt my soul becaise I love playing both Nations, they are my favorite factions in this game and in WT.

It sucks that the double standard exists that we can have fantasy designs for Japan and Germany(in war thunder) but not for Italy.

I strongly believe they will seperate Italy from Germany in the future and if they do, the P.43 should be Italy’s top regular tank.

Snail for some reason really dislikes Italians and their techniques, adds them with extreme reluctance. There used to be an excuse that it was “paper”, but now against the background of ho-ri, what excuses can there be? The tank is actually a t-34, it is not break the balance.

Let’s at least add real vehices first, shall we?

The P.26/40 is a perfectly viable option for BR III. Real, not OP, model already available in WT, mediocre APHE (same as current Semovente) but HEAT with (generous) 100mm pen.

Then, at least 2 models of uparmored and upgunned M43 Semovente could fit at BR IV. The 105/25:

And the 75/46:

Basically the Italian version of STUH and Jagdpanzer.

That doesn’t seem to be planned at all.

So far, we haven’t got vague responses, but firm denials at any questions about splitting Italy from Germany (and UK from US).

Listen, should they ever actually add the P.43 (which I really doubt) I’ll probably play it too, but at that point we’d be 100% into fantasy land, and we all know how bad that would snowball without anything to stop German, US and other wet dreams anymore.

If you ever plan to see Italians as a separate nation in Enlisted, p43 needs to be added.
It’s mostly clones in the tundra. What would you want, pure Italian vehicles or five kinds of Shermans with the Italian flag? I think the choice is obvious.
