everybody happy that the mortar got not nerfed but killed while it was not a major problem, yet no one is talking about the artillery didnt get nerfed or the bomber that are still ridicolous

Mortar spammers were mostly decisive force in matches with open caps and racking insane amount of kills ever since CAT. All that while having zero risk of being killed… Of course I´m happy that mortar spammers now have to use brain or even play objective.
This nerf was requested for a very long time, the only shame on it is, that it took so long.
then i must have been very lucky…cause i rarely found many mortar spammer and when i dound them they were more useful during assault map than in conquest
I agree that mortars having incentive to play the objective is a good thing, but I think that removing ammo from mortars without compensating in any way excessively nerfs them, and also the effectiveness of mortars has been overstated, with their kill rate in line with their usage rate.
Again, I think the best thing for mortars would be to allow them to be used in regular squads, and either buff their number by two mortar operators, or double their ammo, in dedicated mortar squads. This would increase their usefulness without making them sit behind lines indefinitely.
And having them available in regular squads would massively improve their tactical viability in pushing for objectives, as they would allow you to deal with MG nests and the like without having to die, and then switch to your mortar squad, and then hope that someone on your team is actually spotting. (and then be minimally useful from thereon)
well mortar squad can already have 2 mortar man
I am aware. But what I mean is we either get 4 mortar men, or double ammo for the two mortars in the mortar squad. (or 40-50 mortar rounds per mortar squad in total, or the like.)

every branch should have there own risk, before this patch, mortar doesn’t have any risk to play
Why do i feel people are mixing up radio squad with mortar squads, because with my time with the artillery squad i can rack up around 50+ a ton of assist and even a few tank kills, but mortar the highest kill count i got was 25 on a assault map
then make them integrated in other squad like the machinguneers, the assaulter, the engineer etc…so you can have a rifle squad with a single mortar man with only 10 ammo so you can try to clear a spot before attacking instead of making a single squad of mere 4-5 man that cant do enything
because they are, the real problem here are artillery and bomber planes, yet since mortar have a weapon that can do boom, people when they hear its nerfer are happy, without knowing what is what…i repeat, mortar got completely killed, while artillery that is the REAL problem can still do its dirty job painting the minimap red
Easiest way to deal with that is by putting mortars in regular squads, making it an occasional use weapon instead of something for dedicated abuse. And again, extra ammo for the actual mortar squad so they have a point to be used.
Finally, counter-battery markers on the map, so if someone fires a mortar, they light up on the map for anyone wanting to return fire with their own mortars.
I think the Artillery strike nerf is fair it’s no longer spammy plus it has more damage now. don’t have the mortar yet but I was looking forward to have it when I level 2 more but then realized it was just the same or a little bit better than a artillery strike.

Okay so i just did a battle where i used arty and mortars only and here are the end results of my battle
Nahh, they don’t require any skill to use and just boring. It’s a very static gameplay of just adjusting fire a bit and watching map.
They need a proper mechanics, like shot deviation that is random and slowly drifts over time, so you actually need some line of sight on what you are shooting at to correct for deviation from “wind”. They need overheating mechanics that limits their rate of fire dynamically. So you could still do an intensive fire but only for short period of time.

Pretty sure that having to play a mortar INTELLIGENTLY is far better than just spamclicking and then reloading and spamclicking some more from absolute safety behind the lines and getting many dozen kills easily. Been a long time needed nerf. Just my take though.
