They’re probably trying to see what works without going overboard
then instead of making it available only to the mortar squad they should make the mortar available to some other squad, like the infantry squad…so yeah at the start you could see a little mortar spam but than thats it

It was in the past, I don’t see why they shouldn’t revert it to being back in the AT and MG squads.

then make the mortar squad a little bigger, as for now having only 4-5 member like the flamethrower squad, so it feels like an infanrty squad wich can use a light mortar in the right occasion

If they really are going to make mortars unable to reload they need to change that task where you have to get 30 kills in one battle now, because the most kills i’ve gotten for that was 20 and that took multiple reloads of my mortar ammo to get that many and half of them didnt count because the killed feed showed the enemy died by a riffle even though i wasn’t using any rifle at the time
Then why not just remove mortars from the game, because clearly you don’t want mortars to be actually played.
Either there needs to be a way to reload mortars, mortar squads need to have more mortars, or you need to be able to put mortars in regular squads. As-is, mortars have now been nerfed into the smallest niche imaginable.
Mortars weren’t even that effective before, by the statistics for them, even if they felt like hell on the receiving end, having a kill rate about the same as their useage rate.
This with all weapons…
I like the classes and their different perks/strengths; however, limiting weapons by class sucks… Sucks bad.
Quick update but not about the mortar your can’t reload the Piat either now,
Ok to be fair when I use my radio operator I usually use it in combat while also calling artillery to get more accurate strikes etc… there been plenty of times where I ended up behind enemy lines because they pushed past me.
Although I do think the Mortar should get more shots now since it’s kinda just bad now.
In all honesty I’ve been killed by a mortar only 3 times (granted those three times it did wipe my squad) and artillery seems to be less spammy then when I first started playing. I think people have naturally left those classes once they get farther through the campaign because there’s newer and cooler things.
(Oh also the best way to get best radio operator is by being in the frontline with a Gweher 42 or an M1 garand.
Same cant rear mortar… But mabey they should give like 1 min cooldown till u can rearm or something.

to be honest they are not fine…its completely useless, or they remove them or they make them balanced…they killed a class that to be honest was not so much of a problem, yet the real problem the artillery got a nerf that isnt a nerf
I disagree, as mortars were in major use in WW2. If you want a game without mortars, there are a whole slew of other FPS titles to choose from. Furthermore, mortars are less of an issue than artillery strikes in the game right now, especially post-nerf. This before you get into that, again, by the dev’s own released statistics in a past thread, mortars, even with reloading, only accounted for a kill ratio equal to their usage ratio.
So they were clearly not OP even before you couldn’t reload them, even if they felt that way.
So, mortars need to be made more of an option again. This means more ammo per mortar, more mortars per mortar squad, mortars in non-mortar squads, or add back in reloading mortars.
Mortars finaly nerfed:
