By god what is wrong with this game

Progress:

Im coming from playing a lot of games that require a ton of grind to make progress, even one of them is made by Gaijin (War Thunder), yet this game seems to have an unsurmountable progress system, the amout of things you have to unlock is insane, each squad has its own perks, each member has its own perks, to upgrade guns you need to play 50 games with X squad in order to unlock the upgrades then buying the upgrades is individual for each gun, for each soldier, same goes for soldier perks and levels, things should me MUCH more generic, much much more, all you earn can be wasted in a few seconds buy upgrading 2 soldiers and 4 weapons, its insane, it makes no sense and most of the time makes me not even bother with the horrid upgrade system.
All that multiply it by 6 since its the amount of campaigns this game has, meaning for each campaign you must always climb the same endless ladder.
Unlocking new things after a certain level becomes almost imposible, since half the things you need to “buy the full campaign” to even unlock, which again is INDIVIDUAL for each campaign, which gets me to my next point.

Premium

Again, speaking from experience even with Gaijin (i.e. War Thunder) I understand free games need to have certain “premium” components in order to well, make money, something that in the past few years has been completely offset. Enlisted, unlike War Thunder is not pay to progress its PAY TO WIN. 70% of everything that is completely broken in this game is only accesible through investing actual money into the game. and oh my THIS GAME IS EXPENSIVE. 30 dollars for EACH campaign, again, even flopping 30 bucks into this game will only get you full access to a SINGLE CAMPAIGN, that is a whopping 180 DOLLARS FOR THE “FULL GAME”, and that is just for the campaign, im not even going to dive into the rest of the premium components this game has. Its baffling how Gaijin, which has experience making free games that have premium components, made such a bad choice with Enlisted, the game is way to full of filler content, meaning half of the progress you make is useless so in order to make real progress you need to invest, not even a moderate amount of money into the game, a MASSIVE amount of money.
This needs to be addressed ASAP and if you only care about profit margins and whatnot then dont even bother cause the game wont last long if you make it this P2W shooter, 90% of casual players wont bother logging on if they can be blasted out of existence by a JU 87 which they will never get to play, same goes for most tanks and weapons, this also ties to my next point.

Matchmaking

By far the biggest crime in the game. Most of the stuff I previously stated wouldn’t even be an issue if it weren’t for the mindless matchmaking. New barebones players with bolt action rifles, with two 4 soldier squads which have no equipment have no chance against experienced players rocking flamethrowers, KV1s, full auto rifles, etc etc. Again, matchup against PAID players wouldn’t be as bad if I weren’t playing with the Mosin in a 4 man squad which doesn’t even have TNT vs completely indestructible tanks and fully automatic rifles/250kg bombers/flamethrowers and everything else. Battlerating is a thing in War Thunder, WHY IS IT NOT HERE? which again leads to my next point.

B A L A N C E

Oh god, everything I have said thus far would be TOLERABLE if it weren’t for the godforsaken TERRIBLE balance this game has, throwing historical accuracy out the window. KV1s and T34s are busted, Germans are merely rolling around in Pz III/IVs which dont have neither the armour or weaponry to stand up to those tanks. 95% of all German weaponry doesn’t even hold a candle the busted PPSH41, massive mags with LASER accuracy and nonexistent damage dropoff or recoil for that matter, and that is only 1 of many weapons that make you feel like you are playing with god mode on basically. Flamethrowers, and hell, even FLAMES in general SUCK, they are so busted it doesnt even make sense how someone could see that in action and let it patch into the game. Flames in general are way to overpowered and dont make any sense, so imagine a FLAMETHROWER which is only accesible in lvl 20, is by far the most busted weapon in the game, you cant even see who is shooting there is basically no counter unless you catch the person of guard or from a massive distance, kill feeds are constatly plagued by flamethrower kills, even worst when someone has the PREMIUM flamethrower tank. Molotovs and Ampulomet are also very busted and make the game insanely annoying. Cant rant forever about balance but it takes a single hour of gameplay to realize everything that is wrong with the game.

Maps

Map design isnt half bad, but there are a few instances where its just pure garbage. Spawns in open fields vs fortified locations which are virtually unwinnable and makes the entire match just a game of spawn and get killed 2km away by a sniper or an MG from a fortified location which you cant even see. Close quarter maps are domintaed by PPSHs and flamethrowers, long range maps basically consists of tanks camping outside the range of your team (meaning you cant TNT rush them or do anything to them) making them almost invulnerable, and snipers camping from so far away you cannot even slightly see them, in summary CQ maps heavily favour most busted weaponry and long range maps are just boring, VERY BORING. This of course varies from campaign to campaign but its mostly a 30/70, meaning only about a third of the maps are good, the rest are all horrid and require massive reworks.

Ending

I wont even bother with going into bugs because the game is in early stages and im sure Gaijin is well aware of the gillion bugs that plague the game. I will just end by saying the game truly has potential, but if some, if not all, of these issues aren’t addressed in due time then it will suffer an early death, which again, since I believe the game has potential I do not wish for this to happen.

In summary:
-Make it less P2W
-Rework the progress ladder cause its just insane
-Balance/or consider adding some sort of battlerating system because its very hostile to new/casual players to the point of making it unplayable
-Rework how flames/flamethrowers work in general
-Rething some maps, add trenches or points of cover in open maps to make them slighly playable and just just a slaughterhouse for the defending team.

Considering I bashed the game pretty hard, specially on premium aspects I wouldn’t be surprised if the post gets taken down, if Gaijin wants to be taken seriously then instead of dismissing dissatisfied players and censoring they should make the least bit effort to hear them out and make room for complaints and try to take at least something from them. Needless to say if this does get taken down then I will have no respect left for this game and sadly cannot stand by it if it lets things like this go through, and so I assume most players who will simply quit.

I must reassure that im not trying to simply trash the game, im an actual player who even recommends the game to my friends but its hard to keep them hooked when it has this many problems, im hoping this issues are addressed in some manner.

Bonus round:

-Rework plane controls
-Just completely overhaul the tank PVP system, you nailed it in War Thunder, im sure you can do the same for Enlisted because it is TERRIBLE.

Random casual with -+5 hours of playtime is judging whole game, nice.

“Random casual”, and who are you exactly then? who do you expect to judge the game if not the players? Also wrong about playtime but by your comment I guess you aren’t the brightest anyways so I dont expect a well crafted response either. If your comments are pointless then keep them to yourself and abstain from posting.

What squads/guns are P2W?

SoonTM

Whats wrong with it?

personally it’s not that bad for me, except for 6 campaign split, but it’s gonna be fixed soon so we’ll see.

i’m fine with that either, it’s little bit P2W even tho people say it isn’t, premium squads are equipped with high FOR weapons which are superior in current game mods. Although since prem squads are expensive not much people r using them. So it’s again it’s not that bad for me.

again it’s not that bad rn, not sure but some kind of matchmaker do exists and it match similar campaign level players, ex. once i started to see flamethrowers in my games i was close unlocking them myself. It’s not always the case but it’s noticable it exists.

now this is the real problem here i agree with, but again since there’s gonna be changes in that term it’s pointless to talk about it.

maps are great, but the game modes mechanics isn’t so it feels like maps are shit, objectives are way to small and sometimes it forces CQC meatgrinder, to the points it’s way worse than COD IMHO, bigger objectives would gratly benefit for non-cqc squads, and would slow down the overall pace what would gratly benefit all supportive kind of soldiers.

My personal biggest issue with this game is that it has so much potential to be great ww2 game yet it still keep being fast-paced-meatgrinding-shit. It’s way too fast, way too arcade, especially infantry combat.

Just the 180dollars, not sure where you got that from? Sounds like you are very new to this game and have probably come from HLL, so either go back or have fun like the rest of us here.

all i hear is a new player unwilling to grind and sorry to be rude but i hate it yea it take a long time but bolt action increase my skill in other gun play so i would say enlist have the best bolt action gun ever and also rework flamethrower? are you kidding me before they were useless and now they are actually usable so you are wrong on that and that is all for me

so you are saying that the 75mm on the f2/g isn’t enough to skull fuck a kv-1 frontly? i am detecting an extreme amount of bullshit and skill issue from this statement

Well, imagine spending so much effort writing this essay and still got it all so wrong.
What are you even talking about?

Unlocking new things after a certain level becomes almost imposible, since half the things you need to “buy the full campaign” to even unlock, which again is INDIVIDUAL for each campaign, which gets me to my next point.

Well, shame you didn’t read this before posting this wall of text.

The attempt is appreciated. The result is not even close to satisfactory.

Ah ah yeah, so many wasted words.

What remains makes some reasonable points, but still drowned amidst rants apparently originating from little knowledge of the game.

@40751187 as others said, there’s little point in discussing in depth grind and progression right now, since there’s going to be a total overhaul in the near future (no official ETA yet, but rumors say weeks or a few months at worst).

The new progression system is reportedly going to dump the campaigns system and switch to national tech trees, much like War Thunder. Similarly, weapons and vehicles are going to receive some kind of battle rating, leading to the rise of a (basic) matchmaker.

(I agree that with the current system high tier squads take forever to level up, though. Campaign levels grind is high but still manageable.)

This said,

Enlisted is possibly one of the LEAST pay to win F2P around. No matter how much firepower a premium squad can pump out, its soldiers will still be OHK’d by any random guy with a starter bolt action and a good aim; and a dynamite pack won’t make any difference between a free and a premium tank, they’ll both blow up alike.

with that logic the entire RTS genre should disappear

play the game more time, as your plot just sounds like someone who only played one game

Why do you hate Fierita?

You’re kind of just exaggerating this, it’s a lot to take in yes, and is not easy to get in the swing of, but it can sustain itself so long as you don’t buy guns for everyone the moment you get them and play multiple campaigns while doing stuff like that. Need I mention how you gain separate orders for soldiers and weapons by simply just playing the game and earning exp.

Solution to this problem is just don’t play Stalingrad lmao, it’s a very unpopular campaign for a reason

Okay so someone didn’t actually play the game, as only Stalingrad actually has things locked behind a paywall, and there are only two “Full Access” packs, where the other is present in Pacific for a boost in not having to upgrade things as much as someone without it, but only Stalingrad locks a campaign with money

1: What matchmaking lmao
2: We are getting effectively War Thunder’s battle rating system soon :tm: , check the roadmap

Really just a huge issue in two areas:
1: Moscow’s unlocks
2: Various other issues due to lack of matchmaking
Outside of that you’ll usually find teams of similar levels being on equal grounds (with some exceptions, see Normandy, it’s a bit on and off, but in the end balances out)

Only P2W present is slots really, as (almost) all premium squads are on par or worse than free weapons (exception being Tunisia’s premium flametrooper squads)

Coming soon

Pro tip: Flamethrowers burn things

I agree with you here actually, there’s a handful of maps that could stand reworks with added cover, modified spawns, etc. Could see this in the future

Bonus reply: It’s perfectly fine

Really I’d just prefer it becomes closer to War Thunder RB, the pen indicator here can be god awful anyways. But yeah, it can be a bit wonky sometimes, but for the most part carries over from War Thunder

What don’t you like about plane control?
It’s the same as War Thunder wich is by far the best for arcade gameplay. I wish other game like Battlefield had the same.

But if you talk about some bugs that are being corrected I may agree.
