What I think would make a great desertion penalty, is that the game takes your score away if you desert, and gives it to the next player below you in your team—perfect punishment for traitors.
Why would you care what happend to your score if you quit?
And what score if you instantly quit? There is no score to distribute… but still a hole in the roster.
I’m talking about top players in the team dude
Why should the points go to the next player below me? I don’t think that makes sense and you could push your mate that way.
lmfao
Leaving shit matches is a right
Useless. A player who deserts should wait more time for the next match.
This, put booster to the underdog instread
Exactly.
Those asking for more punishment are salty hypocrites. They just are upset and want others to feel salty as well.
It does not work.
What does, are positive incentives to remain in loosing matches.
See it this way:
Someone tells you “f*** you!” What is your answer? “Well f*** you too!”
Instead if someone tells you “help me out, I know it’s hard, but I’ll make it worth your while, mate”
You answer: “Sigh. Fine.”
Why darkflow dont punishing players who desert, like some competitive games do? Because they themselves know that the true reason for most deserts are their poor faction and game mode balance. Before thoroughly balancing the factions and improving the game experience of certain junk modes (assault, train, etc.), it is the legitimate right for players to escape from a shit game.
System can now automatically fill new players into matches which someone desert at the beginning. This means deserting at the beginning will not actually cause much trouble to your teammates, only those who desert midway will.
there are 2 main reasons for deserting
- shit modes/maps
- roflstomps
without actually addressing those 2 issues you will always have justified deserters. you are either stuck in unfun mode/map or you are in a match where one team is dominating so much that it is not fun for both sides.
and shit teammates.
most of the time 100%
i ragequit a lot.
All the comments after this still miss the point even while supporting incentives.
Why don’t we punish people that can’t make a decent matchmaking system?
Why i don’t get extra pay when i get a team of noobs or a mode i don’t like?
How do you make a good matchmaker when one side has 5x the amount of players?
You just cant…
The biggest problem with the MM was player made, be it uneven distribution to players or the deserting once the team needs them ( and then complain about joining mid game ).
Because skill isnt as easy to determin automaticly by some system in a game like enlisted and just because your team is useless it doesnt mean you automaticly are entitled to a 100% booster or whatever people are demanding.
i agree, there is also many possibilities that those people are leaving midgame because their time ran out but only possibility
Given how desertion is glorified on the forum and how vocal they are on how terrible a penalty would be I do not assume it is a IRL thing most of the time but lazy why should I help my team win if I could just wait for a stomp instead.
And if you know you dont have time for another round then why did you start it? The ultra long rounds are kinda rare so I doubt it is always that.
maybe the team isnt bad at all. maybe there just only bots in ur game
I have no problem with deserting I think it’s perfectly fine especially when some people are F2P players we have less on the table and less in the game to defend so we’re better off going to find another game so we don’t turn into an XP pinata.
Except for when we get a stupid booster and we can’t deserts because that’s too valuable to leave behind.
I honestly don’t care when I’m a solo player and I don’t plan to be an XP Pinata for that person to make his day and I even have less incentives to stay in the match especially since I’m an F2P player and don’t get rewarded for my suffering.
