Battle of königsberg campaign

The Battle of Königsberg, also known as the East Prussian Offensive, was a significant military operation that took place during the final months of World War II. The battle was fought between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, and it lasted from late January to early April 1945.

Königsberg was a strategically important city for both sides, as it was a major industrial center and served as the capital of East Prussia. The city was heavily fortified, with numerous artillery and anti-aircraft installations, as well as extensive defensive fortifications.

The Soviet offensive began on January 12, 1945, with a massive artillery barrage that lasted for several days. The Soviet troops then launched a series of attacks on the city, with the goal of encircling and capturing it. The German defenders put up a fierce resistance, and the fighting was intense and brutal.

Despite the heavy German resistance, the Soviet forces were able to make steady progress, and by late February, they had encircled the city. The German garrison, numbering over 50,000 troops, was cut off from the outside world and running low on supplies. The Soviet forces continued to press their attack, and on April 9, they launched a final assault on the city.

The German defenders fought fiercely, but they were outnumbered and outgunned. The Soviet troops eventually broke through the city’s defenses and captured Königsberg on April 9. The battle resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians, and the city was left in ruins.

The Battle of Königsberg was a significant victory for the Soviet Union, as it allowed them to secure a vital industrial center and deal a major blow to the German war effort. The battle also marked the beginning of the end of the war in Europe, as the Soviet Union continued to push westward and eventually captured Berlin, leading to the surrender of Nazi Germany.

In conclusion, the Battle of Königsberg was a brutal and costly military operation that played a significant role in the final months of World War II. The battle was marked by intense fighting and heavy casualties, and it ultimately resulted in the Soviet Union’s victory and the capture of a key industrial center. The battle remains an important event in the history of World War II, and it serves as a reminder of the cost and devastation of war.

1 map for all campaign?
No, thanks.

Königsberg was a huge city. It would be like the berlin campaign.

They should add it as a map to the Battle of Berlin, sure.

But it should not be its own separate campaign for obvious reasons.

Gasp! What a daring little bird!

Political satire aside, the history of the city of Königsberg is really interesting. During hundred of years it was disputed and claimed back and forth by Teutonic knights, the kingdom of Poland, the Russian empire, and the kingdom of Prussia.

It got a very long history.

This could be an extension to the Battle of Berlin campaign with the same equipment

Another Stg44-variant eastern front urban combat campaign? How fresh, exciting and revolutionary.

Quite opposite. More like Great Lechia unification;]

Poland will have its borders, even if they’re on the last map humanity ever draws;]

Hold firm, my friend, hold firm!
