Hello, I just wanted to ask what do you guys feel like about this Pacific?
From my perspective, i’ve played both sides but most of my experience comes from Axis side.
Bolt-action are equal for both sides
I don’t trust Semi-Autos and i find them in fact bad on both sides, still Johnson is a bit better for Allied side
There is extreme difference in balance regarding tanks, Ta-Se is worse than M13 (right now it’s a bit better but before it was terrible), Ha-Go is complete joke compared to M2A4, and M3 is just better than Ke-Ni, Axis have advantage in Ka-Chi which can be considered best tank in the campaign (but it’s premium)
Regarding planes, i find Buffalo best starting plane in this campaign, Allies have advantage as they can spawn both Fighter (best there) and Attacker vs defenceless Attacker on the Axis side
There is also extreme difference in the case of MGs, japanese MG’s introduced in this campaign are the worst in the game and in most cases bugged af (insane spreads, terrible optics), on the Allied side we have fastest browning in the entire game which is ONE of the best rifles in the entire campaign, the A2 version is even better, those weapons are extremly good in Normandy but there it’s just a menace to deal with
SMGs, i found most of them useless, i feel like best of them all is still Thompson there
In case of sniper rifles, i feel much better using Allied Springfield M1903A3 compared to Japanese Arisaka
Other important aspect is playerbase and overall shift towards Allied side, i feel like the ratio is like mostly 2 or 3 to 1 experienced players on Allied side. Most of them shifted due to equipment difference and that they allready ended their progression on Axis side (i guess?).
In most matches i find Axis underwhelming, some games are completly unwinable as the bot difference is too huge to deal with. Also in this Campaign I experienced the fastest lose in my Enlisted history, around 5 minutes and 30 seconds all points were taken.
That higher USA campaign levels are op IN COMPARISON to those Japanise. And first few Japanise levels are better than USA has. In combination with lack of any mm it makes usually one side slother.
it was well known that japanese would have overall worse equipment compared to allies cause history, so it is not really surprising that they perform worse in most cases. someone mentioned that it would be better if they balanced the campaign with late war maps where japanese were entrenched.
japanese should be mostly defense oriented side and that some flanks should be nerfed cause you can really make wide flanks on pacific now. that is only way how japanese should have some fighting chance. trying to balance worse equipment with zerg tactics…
They developed the maps completely different than how the pacific was fought. Japanese dug next work underground trenches to defend against superior Allied equipment. That’s why they could survive intense US offshore bombardments prior to invasion landings. Howe ever you have none of that here. Just normal trenches with a pillbox here and there.
Japanese should be the masters of hit and run tactics. Jump out or a hole. Destroy a squad then jump right back into cover underground, but nope. The map design clearly favors US.
I will continue playing Japan though, because I like a challenge and US is easymode.
Not mentioning the M13s that can spray points and pen almost all walls your defending. Or BAR players that outclass any LMG Japanese have? If it wasn’t for the type 99 late BA I would have left long ago.
That BAR player. He starts shooting, he automatically becomes a flashing target for every Japanese riflemen. Life expectancy becomes pretty short if you don’t hide much in this campaign.
As for the M3…
A mere molotov renders it useless. If too far, the AT “rifle” (canon? Railgun? Boomstick? Death star beam?) Is more than enough (also knocks any USA tanks in mere seconds)…
Even then almost all the semi autos I’ve used, haven’t tried ostu yet, can hold their own in this campaign and are all pretty even, hell the only thing I can said is bad about this campaign is AA being able to wall bang you
Although I do kinda agree about matchmaking and experienced players, I think it’s fair to say axis in pacific can win and that if you upgrade SMGs, you stand a chance.
I think it also different tactics to play this campaign, it is not sitting back and using attrition to win, Japanese must be aggressive not spam TaSe from 150m away, or just deploy artillery, it is laying smoke, using banzai charges to get in close, I play both sides, there are advantages and disadvantages to both and can win.
Anyside who abuses AA and spams 20mm will win, but I rarely see arty smoke called in (as in other campaigns), wait until AP mines are a thing, it will make a difference.
People are still learning maps, including me, but I don’t believe it’s all on people not playing axis but allies, I think it’s not changing tactics too is my point.
