In my opinion AT guns should have higher gun depression, I’ve had many situations where I tried to destroy a tank but I could aim only above it.
Same and is very annoying. Come to think of it there are many building issues like throwing down a spawn point only to almost finish and it says “too close to another spawn” lulz there are many things like AT guns that need tweaks or adjustments
The 6 pdr AT gun (57m M1 in US service) had a limit of -5 degrees depression.
That’s not very much, and means sometimes you have to think a bit about where they can be sited or you won’t get to shoot at all - eg you can’t just plonk on on the top of a hill to command the entire space in front of you!
That’s not real - you can’t start one in hte first place if it is too close to another spawn!
Than problem is building placement in normandy invasion. I hardly ever find ground sutable for AT gun, mostly on roads, great fun (no sarcasm).
Which is entirely historical - the towed AT guns were found to be of little use there!
I build them on roads too - and often in Moscow too - the system actually allows you to effectively “ambush” a tank by building only when needed. It helps to have your engineer lie down when building it and perhaps behind cover, eg the corner of a building or inside a trench (building it on the end of a trench) - the engineer can be out of sight while building.
I didn’t know, thanks for explanation.
After it was set up. The troops still had the option to set it up in such a way that the neutral angle was further downwards, by putting stuff underneath the 2 legs.
Seems unlikely - those spades at the end of the legs have to absorb some recoil - they don’t have to be dug in a long way, but I don’t think you would want them anywhere else except on the ground!
Its completely real. What it is is someone else is building one close to you and they finish before you. Thus you hammer away and when you’re “done” you cant finish. You’ll see just how real it is, just wait
Ah - well in that case just “J” it - you get the resources back - I’ve done that when I’ve decided I didn’t want to finish something.
Of course but then I waste my time and that is the bigger issue. Not a huge bug or anything but something stopping you from building as someone else currently hammering would be nice
Soldiers will be soldiers. They aren’t always the smartest. If they need more gun depression, they sure as hell will find a way to achieve it.
that would lead to a troll guy just placing the ghost BPs everywhere and preventing anyone from building, probably.
Yeah - this - I have no problem with that - sure it is annoying, and I have had it happen once or twice I think, but I think it is an unavoidable issue really.
They might not always be the smartest - but they would only do this once and it wouldn’t work.
More likely they won’t set it up somewhere it can’t command the appropriate terrain, because actually setting up AT guns with correct fields of fire is not a trivial activity.
I have done this in Enlisted several times - I have learned to set guns up slightly forward of a crest not right on it, and not in 2nd stories of buildings!!
The thing is, AT guns are even more finnicky to set up on Normandy than on Moscow. You kindof have to just put it where the game lets you, and the game doesn’t let you put it in many places there.
Now I have to find that picture from WWII of German soldiers who managed to get an AT gun on top of some tracked towing vehicle or tankette and tie it down with some twine through the wheels.
Pretty sure it was a Pak 36 tied down to the top of a Renault UE, just by skimming for pictures of both.
lol - any evidence it gives it any more depression? (although TBH you’d have to be pretty depressed thinking you would be expected to “fight” on that!
)
at that point you may as well get 2 guys to lift the back up for you
Yes me too, the thing is there are flat pieces of ground but deploying the damn thing, you move and lose placement, a little frustrating tbh
You want to reduce use of mortars then give us better pak gun / howitzer placement please
