Well, it being the BEST gun in ww2 is very debatable.
How would you measure how it is the best?
Best because of numbers? Then no. The STG44 was not produced in large numbers, (425,977 STGs were made) whereas things like the M1 Garand were produced in much larger numbers (5.4 million made).
Best of effectiveness? Maybe. The STG fit the needs that the Germans wanted. Fighting in an intermediate range and giving more firepower to their troops.
Best for manufacturing? Not really. It was expensive, and hard to produce. The STG cost 70 Reichsmarks (550 Euros or about $10,602 today ), where things like the M2 carbine ($45 or $791 today) and the PPSH (50 to 80 rubles) were much cheaper.
I guess it all depends on your perspective and views, but probably in reality, it most likely wasn’t the best gun.

I just want they to be properly the gun it is suposed to be. a FG42 is far more in the Assault rifle vibe that the STG44.

Great recoil.
High damage.
Semi auto is a must in long range.
SMG,s
No recoil
Low damage
Fire in moving.
I thought ARs should be more accurate.

The FG42 is actually more of a battle rifle, because it fires a full size round (7.92Ă—57mm Mauser) which is what the Kar98 shoots. This is a full size battle rifle round, so the FG42 should do more damage than the STG44 which shoots a much smaller round (7.92x33mm).
The STG44 should do more damage than an SMG, but less than the semi-auto rifles, and the FG42 should do about the same damage as a semi-auto rifle.

It will be, a STG44 is like a AK47, fact is AK47 has be develop using STG44 desing has framework.
like a the AK, STG would hit the frist targuet, no matter the range. but the second shoot would requery some delay and skill to hit it has well.
all i asking is they become assault rifles, in their flaws and glory. i feel like i shooting a Uber SMG, anyway let,s debate.
Personally I think the recoil amount should change depending on if it is set to semi-auto or full- auto. This at least would help balance out recoil vs fire rate.

The damage system should be overhauled as it is currently inconsistent and does not reflect the true power of the weapons and their difference, even if the “damage” of a firearm is something that cannot be defined. In the new system, for example, it will be an incomprehensible anomaly that bolt action weapons will do about twice as much damage as their higher tier semi or fully automatic counterparts, even though the ammunition and barrel length are mostly the same. Now it is understandable why it is so, but in the new system there is no longer much sense of difference.

you do know that in the STG case it was firing a smg sized round from a large gun, out of a longer barrel

It was a different time, so different views. Allowing every troop to have a fully automatic weapon was somewhat weird for some generals.
But the MP 43 is the STG 44. Just an earlier designation, like MP 44 is.
Soviet: actually having more PPSH 41 than Mosin rife,even has shockteooper formation
German: plan to achive Sturmzug(every soldier with StG 44s) and every Fallschirmjagger with FG 42s, also having Jagger formation available(full squad with SMG of any kind)
I understand.
However there is a large difference between planning on giving each soldier an STG44 and actually giving STG44s to every soldier when your infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities are crumbling.
