Assault rifles are uber SMG,s, i think they should be assault rifles

The first batch of MkB42s(700 units) to Stalingrad are to test the formation, which, is so great that convinced the fustrated Austrian artist to not reject the project for 7th time and put the thing in mass production, the germans could’ve start using StG44s before 1943 if he didn’t rejected it that many time, and don’t worry about the cost, the StG44 is 70 RM, the StG 45/Gerat 06 is half of that price almost equal to a MP40, and less about the logistic, cuz that one gun gonna replace 2 or 3 weapons at the same time

Hitler was a wako and made weird tactical decisions that were extremely questionable (see assaulting Russia in the winter), but in the end WW2 was a numbers game, and it was about who could produce the most of everything who would win. If they had more STGs at an earlier time then it might have effected the outcome of the war (unlikely as usually not just one thing can change a war) but they didn’t, so the Soviets and the US which had more automatic and semi-automatic weapons given to their troops, they (most likely in most situations) had the upper hand when it came to combat.

Калашников показывает свой автомат Дегтярёву / фрагмент из худ. фильма - YouTube skip to 2:06 then find a field stripping video for the STG-44 and the AR-15.

i blame the post-ww2 german science mythos. Still not dead in face of reality

6 Million PPSh vs 425k STGs with numbers manufactured during wartime are very different compared to peacetime considering there are lots of compromises when a country is in a state of war especially in the weapons industry itself especially when its in or has been from a very dire situation like the Soviets in 1941 or the Americans after Pearl Harbor or Germany in late war.

PPD-40 sure is a great gun but it takes too much time to produce besides stuff like more machining time, materials, etc so it was replaced by the PPSh that’s much simpler and faster to manufacture. On the case of PPSh vs PPS, yeah PPS is even simpler to produce but stopping production on some factories already producing PPSh is something the Soviets cannot afford due to wartime needs like need as many guns available for the troops as possible.

Only in situations like T-34 where at some point, production need to be refitted to make T-34-85s instead of T-34-76 due to presence of Tiger and Panther.

Also weapons development during wartime also means less red tape, bureaucracy and other political BS behind the scenes as seen on why crude guns like the Grease Gun entered service when the Thompson being around compared to peacetime with armies actually have the luxury to take some time in developing new weapons as seen why the Soviets took so long to adopt a new sniper rifle with the SVD replacing the Mosin that remained in service as a sniper for about 20 more years after WWII or 20 years for the Soviets to get their own GPMG(PKM) despite have captured examples of MG34 and MG42.

I really don’t like this type of arguing.

“Best” because of it being the best, is a very straightforward description of this gun, you don’t need to bring production into this. Seriously, strategically speaking production was obviously more expensive than just pumping out basic rifles.

Still, no sane man would say an old Lada is a better car than a Mercedes, because it costs less in production.

Best means best performance, and without a doubt the STG was one of the best and probably even the most revolutionary firearm in modern history.

you mean for same rifle? that is stupid. recoil depends on bullet, not on mode of fire.

Have you ever fired a rifle? Auto and semi? your body reacts to recoil differently depending on sheer fire rate. So while the mechanical recoil may be the same, how your body handles and controls it changes.

The only argument to this is if the full-auto is AS fast or SLOWER than what you can pull in semi-auto, which is very unlikely.

Well it depends on round and mode of fire.
A SMG on full auto has less recoil than a bolt action, but a rifle on full auto has much more recoil than the SMG.

talking about same rifle with select fire.

like you control recoil with mouse?

Don,t realy think the cost in real life count in this discusion.

it,s about to make STG44 AND, (AND) other assault rifles be assault rifles, instead of powerfull SMG,s.

for now, the cost o STG44 is 3 silver cards.

all i was asking IS,

More recoil

semi automatic damage.

cheers.

Damage equal to a semi-auto rifle would not be an assault rifle, it would be a battle rifle such as the AVS or M-14. If you have ever had the privilege to fire an AVS, or M-14, you will know why firing on full auto is pretty much useless as the recoil sends the muzzle straight up.

Assault rifles have intermediate cartridges which in game terms means less range and less damage than a full rifle cartridge.
