Comrade, what is your opinion?
I finished the Soviet grind and got some end content. Yes, everyone’s dream AS44.
I had purchased and used about 20 PPSh-41s in Stalingrad before the merge, and I immediately jumped on this new toy. I upgraded my weapons to the max and jumped into BR5.
However…I feel that the AS44 lacks power.
It’s not a bad gun by any means, I think it’s comparable in performance to the German StG44. However, at engagement distances of less than 100m, the PPSh-41 is overwhelming.
At greater distances, would the AS44 be better?
It certainly seems to me that if the enemy is farther away, the AS44 is definitely better than the PPSh-41 in terms of ease of application. However, the PPSh-41 has a higher rate of fire and number of rounds loaded that more than makes up for it, and when I put the two assault Squads, the PPSh-41 Squad and the AS44 Squad, into BR5 and compared them, in the end, my experience was that the PPSh-41 had a shorter TTK and killed more enemies.
I’ve spent a lot of money polishing the AS44, but I’m not sure if I should revert to the PPSh-41 as my assault squad weapon of choice. At least it’s in HA.
What kind of firearms do you comrades use in BR5 USSR?
I use both ppsh41 and AS44 in BR5, even Federov.
I dont mind variety in my squads, I can jump from AS44 to Ppsh41 without any issues, my SU assault squads look usually like this:

BR5 is alt-ww2 basically, Im just waiting for Moscow 45, Sealion 45 and Japan 45.
If you want things to stay realistic you need to play BR2 sadly. I hope we will get proper historical settings for custom games.
Only really use the Premium AS-44 (Type 4?) because of “historical” and economic reasons (too greedy to buy more ASs and Feds). It is quite good but could also be because of premium soldier stats.
PPSh41 (Drum and and Stick) are still my main USSR Assaulter choice for high BR. PPSh is still nice at wiping out a street or room and for the sake of spray and fun. Also I have a large stock of them from SG with almost all stars.
Only the sound is terrible.
I use the as44 with the premium naval infantry squad armes with the ppsh, so im covered in both medium and close quarter with both gun, same with suomi squad and stg for the german
Ass 44 is more powerful than even the stg44 in game, because. It’s also better, or rather versatile, than the Papasha.
The Papasha however, is iconic. It is also the best smg of the game, all factions included. A long history, that one.

if I want to sweat and try hard, I’ll use the ass ()
If I want to still be competitive, but a bit less while remaining a bit HA and iconic, I go with Papasha.
I would use ppsh. And save the proto weapon for naval infantry. Honestly, those naval infantry best looking in the game to me. I even have the same getup believe it or not.
it has very similar stats which was a huge slap in the face for Germany players.
Germany´s best gun has been literally copied and given to Soviets, not Mkb42 or Mp43/1, but the best version StG44, even though they already had many good weapons, not to mention the best progression gun the federov.
Its like giving Germany Federov or M2 Carbine. bleh stupid.
its not like ppsh41 is no longer use once you unlock federov and as44 since tank crews, pilots and apc drivers can only equip SMGs so there is use for them even if you prefer to ARs over SMGs.
you can make a historically accurate build, but you will be killed by fantasy weapons like RD-44, AS44, Cönders, Tokyo arsenal and so many others Im lazy to list.
BR2 has its own time travel guns problem.
no matter what faction I play, BR2 is unplayable because of the noobs.
Veterans are tired of brainless meat grinder without APC or rally, no flanking, nothing so they just ditched low BRs altogether or play in clans.
Eh… High BR isn’t really good in this regard either. Again, only place I find solace is custom matches and those without the monkeys in it.
And as for the ‘clan’ thing, I find that funny. But I guess that doesn’t look good for me, because one can say I play with some clans too. But it tends to be just 1 bud. I have no respect for those “double” stackers, etc. And especially, when they do it in a non custom.
That’s like a grown ass man getting put in a cage and asked to fight a baby or something, pathetic.
