ARMORED CARS - The Next Best Thing?

ARMORED CARS

OVERVIEW

Since the addition of the JET POWER update and other misc events around the same time, Enlisted has received alot of content, specifically HIGH BR (BR5) / AERIAL content.

Now that we have (almost) fully developed the Aviation tech trees in Enlisted and pushed the boundaries by adding essentially post-war Jet technology, I think there is some desire of the community to stay grounded in WW2, adding maps/theaters/other nation content that is sorely missing. Some suggestions from the community include ITALY, FRANCE or the SIEGE OF LENINGRAD.

But let’s move on to my suggestion about ARMORED CARS which I think will make for a great next Major Update. Armored Cars are a hallmark of WW2 motorized units and are sorely missing from Enlisted, a game focused on ground combat and mobilizing infantry. Personally, the introduction of APCs and the APC Driver class in the “NEW ERA” update was one of my favorites, where as the addition of the Rider class in a later update was comparatively disappointing.

GIVING ARMORED CARS to RIDER CLASS
So why don’t we expand on the currently lacking RIDER class by giving them Armored Cars? Just as Motorcycles were used for Scouting/High Mobility objectives, so too were Scout Cars. Limited in survivability by Small Crew Sizes but amplified by high mobility/minor armament, this would be the perfect addition for Rider.

WHICH VEHICLES SHOULD BE ADDED?
I propose adding 4 lightly armored Armored Cars to the tech tree (1 for each faction), including:

  1. GERMANY - Sd.Kfz.221 | Crew 2-3 | BR 1
  2. ALLIES - Dingo Scout Car (with Australian squad) OR Humber Light Recon Car (British squad) | Crew 2, 2-3 | BR 1
  3. RUSSIA - BA 64 | Crew 2 | BR 1
  4. JAPAN - SUGGEST IN COMMENTS !

I also propose adding 2 premium Rider squads for 2 nations, which could be highter tier Armored Cars with more powerful armament, such as:
GERMANY - Sd.Kfz.234 (8rad) | Crew 3-4 | BR III
ALLIES - M8 Greyhound | Crew 3-4 | BR III

FINAL NOTE
Please reply with suggestions on how this potential update could be perfected. I truly believe Armored Cars are the next best thing for Enlisted, spicing up gameplay with a high mobility, weak armor trade-off and adding more (needed) content to low BR, ground gameplay. Since most of these vehicles already exist in War Thunder, an update like this should seem feasible and realistic.

If Armored Cars/respective new squads are not added to Enlisted, I would hope to see the reintroduction of Legacy/old Event squads. Frequent players like myself who were not around in the early days of Enlisted would love another chance at the GAZ milk truck, Flakpanzer, low BR Italian tankers, etc. Thanks for reading

Its certainly what I would like to see, however I might personally make Armoured cars a BR2+ thing, since they should be separate from the two tank slots each team gets.

You do then have the issue of the AC’s already in game for tank squads, personally though I think you can just make those items legacy items, and transition forth to a Rider 2 squad with said armoured cars.

Poor motorcycles, they are ultimately meaningless.

I see how this could be an issue. But I would really like armored cars to fit in low BR contexts, counterable by AT rifles and the like. This will discourage stacking armor cars with other vehicles into higher BRs (who will take an armor car into BR3 over other options?)

As for some AC’s already being in-game, these are mostly heavily armored/gunned, slower, higher BR, fitting different roles. IMO they should not exclude the addition of other AC’s to Rider class

Yes the trick for devs will be balancing Armor Cars appropriately so that they are not always picked over bikes. IMO motorcycles have their place in speed/stealth. Small crew sizes / slight lower speeds / limited visibility for close top Armored Cars should keep them balanced

Even armored cars wouldn’t improve rider class a much. It would be still very niche gimmick class. Definitely not something to be hyped about.

I mean I would def play them up to br3. not every addition to the game needs to be some meta changing class or tech. id prefer more common ground vehicles than prototype and non-ww2 stuff going forward

I want sports cars. Many high ranking officers from both the Allies and Axis loved using luxury civilian vehicles for their personal transports. Maybe something like a Mercedes 770 or the winner of the 1935 Paris Motor show, the Horch 835.

How about something a lot faster and a lot sleeker. I said we take my suggestion of sports cars.

one if you would add two ‘scout’ or armored car slots you would need to add three infantr7y bringing the total squads to 20 yes to maintain the vehicle to infantry ration in order to prevent the game from becoming war thunder and make infantry something to farm.

two they need to be vulnerable to infantry guns as they were in real life, otherwise the standard infantry anti-armor weapons tnt and dynamite would not work making them infantry killers. yes at rockets, rifles, mortars and the grenade gun. but most infantry do not have access to that a new weapon to kill armored cars would be needed. otherwise as long as vehicle and infantry as well as infantry ability to kill it is maintained thumbs up.

I feel like they should be open topped for balance. So for BA 64 the hatches should be open.

Also please buff riders so they can cap points

Thank you for your post.

Also thank you for mentioning Australia!! I want more Australian squads!

I like this suggestion and especially agree with your specific ideas for what to add.

The only one I disagree with is M8 Greyhound. Id like to see that added to BR III as a tech tree option. I believe M8 Greyhound is perfect for Enlisted and should not be locked behind a paywall especially when we have all these silly heavy tanks in game that shouldve remained in WT with more focus on lighter infantry based vehicles.

What I will say is I do believe DF really needs to work on vehicle slots.

Tanks
APCs
Armoured Cars
SPAA
Rider - motorcycles and jeeps (and their equivalents like Kubelwagen)
Aircraft

It’s ridiculous to me trying to squash all those categories into like 2 vehicle slots.

SPAA for instance should be its own thing, people shouldnt have to choose between unprotected SPAA and heavy tank. We need more anti aircraft in game (which can also be used against infantry).

Like the M13 at BR III, youd be silly to take that out when you can have (and need) a Sherman. But at the same time we need that AA capability (SPAAs are more practical than built AA guns).

Likewise armoured cars. I agree armoured cars belong in Enlisted. Lighter vehicles are more logical for an FPS game instead of this nonsense of importing the heaviest tanks one can find from War Thunder, then having to give every damn tech tree a German AT launcher just so they have some sort of a chance against said heavy tanks.

Tanks and armoured cars are used for different roles. Similar to the SPAA example, why take out an armoured car when you can take out a better armed tank?

So let people have an armoured car slot. And we can start off with very light vehicles such as the Sdkfz221, and work our way towards stronger armoured cars like the Sdkfz 234 I believe it is (the one with the Panzer L cannon).

I dont think armoured cars should be in the rider class.
Rider class should be:

BR I - Motorcycles
BR II - Jeeps/similar vehicles
BR III - very light scout vehicles like M3 Scout Car.

Then APC
BR I-II Trucks
BR III Halftracks
BR IV/V stronger armoured APCs like the M5 Kangaroo.

Aircraft
I’d probably make aircraft a separate slot, but in the interests of balance have it that if you take out a plane you cant take a tank out for idk 10 minutes or something after using said plane.
Or maybe in battle you choose whether you want to use tank slot or plane slot and thats what youre using for that battle but you can still have both ready in your lineup.
