Should a Panzer IV with a 7.5 cm KwK 48 reliably bounce off a Sherman? I mean, in my experience in this game, the front armor on a Sherman is virtually impregnable, but, historically speaking, was it actually taking those rounds to the chops without any apparent damage? I know most models of Shermans were supposed to be basically on par with most models of the Panzer IV’s, but in this game it almost doesn’t seem like a the Panzer IV even stands a chance.
I’ve never had issues penning shermans, but if you can’t pen the hull aim for the left side of the turret(with the commander + gunner) as it’s ~80mms flat.
Frontally, a late war Sherman (Represented in-game by the M4A2 or the 76mm Shermans) has about as much armour as a Tiger 1. As a result, you can bounce a surprising amount off of the frontal armour. Also make sure it is proper Shermans that you are facing and not Jumbos, Jumbos have armour superior to Panthers but still have the 75mm.
The sherman jumbo has really good frontal armour. Otherwise i have no problems penning them
So… I MAY have not been paying attention and launching HE rounds at the tank… Maybe. That said, I still find the Sherman tanks obnoxiously hard to kill, sometimes.
Sucker could bounce Panther’s IRL
They’re 100% weaker than they’re supposed to be thanks to Gaijin’s hatred of America
Sherman armour was quite reasonable for WW2 medium tanks - and was upgraded a bit although not massively (outside of Jumbo).
It is entirely possible for most German guns to fail to penetrate if it is an angled hit - better guns require a higher impact angle of course!
Buddy, if they’re weaker than they were IRL, then Sherman tanks must have had freaking laser beams and energy shields. As it is, in my experience; they are easily the strongest tanks until BR4 and even then, they hold their own.
debatable considering that m72, the 75 US shell, fucking sucks
In game or IRL? Either way; in no tank I’ve ever had shot by a Sherman have they ever had to fire a second shot.
Go play War Thunder and gull upgrade the M4A3 (76) W and tell me they’re OP
in game though IRL it was pretty bad too hence why it was swapped out for m61
they likely are aiming for ammo if it’s 1 shooting tanks
I mean, I’m not necessarily saying they’re OP. I’m just saying that they certainly aren’t UNDER-powered.
Well my point still stands. Go play War Thunder and grind down to the M4A3 (76) W. Shoot go for the 76 Jumbo if you really want to. Have fun getting front penned by everything in the game
Sherman in War Thunder have stabiliser which is objectively the most OP equipement that you can access, and this are the only tank in the game to have them before 7.3
They are really good.
The first ones are good, and the first 76 is good
The fact that the M4A3 (76) W is 5.7 is not good
I get that the tanks are copy pasted from War Thunder, but this is not War Thunder. Discussion of balance in War Thunder is not relevant to this game.
A very low percentage of the time. It would have to be almost perfect angling due to the velocity of the L48. Look at Kasserine Pass, Sidi-Bou-Zid, and Ardennes Abbey. All the Panzer IVs had to do was keep their distance, and they would be fine. When they got close, the Shermans would go to town because their shells weren’t losing velocity like they were when firing at long distances. That is why the Sherman was equipped with M89 smoke shells.

Just saying, the Sherman’s both in Enlisted and WT are subpar
Shoot in literally any video game the strengths of the Sherman disappear into mist
Meanwhile all the weaknesses of the German and Russian tanks cease to exist
Especially Russian tanks that were good on paper, but crap in execution for so many reasons
I mean, experiences vary, but in my experience, German tanks are slow, and objectively not very well armored in this game. Soviet tanks weren’t, (according to my understanding) by and large, intended to rule the battlefield, but instead be relatively cheap and easy to produce. I’ve heard that Stalin once remarked that “quantity is a quality all it’s own” or something to that effect. In this game the Soviet tanks don’t take up many respawn tickets (mostly being two or three man crews), and tend to have larger guns than the German tanks of a similar BR.
