Allow to take Bushes off from M8 Greyhound / make it a skin like the ZIS 5 VE Skin

:warning: i’ll start by saying, not an actual priority, but still buggs me. :warning:

so, with the new KV Zis 5 of the 2025 VE-Day ( Reinforcements received: Anniversary of the Victory )

a new " relevation " was made.
aka, now skins can include decorations/cosmetics.
which it’s different unlike older gold order vehicles that used to come with those.

weather i like it or not, it’s not really what i’m here for.

however, with this suggestion i would like to propose to make the following vehicle ( that comes already with decorations ) transform it’s appearance into a skin with the ability to take it off.

and that vehicle is, the M8 Greyound.

Why ?

well, as you can see, it comes with palms decoration and a camouflage. which as much those are nice, they do not belong anywhere but the pacific. and maybe tunisia.

personally, i do not like palms of one bit.
so i would love to get rid of them altogether, and be able to apply camouflages without the actual palms.

and as you can see, if i try to apply another camouflage, it doesn’t disappear.

Alternatively,

just make the M8 Available in the tech tree.
nothing really special about locking one of the most used US recon / armored car vehicle behind premium.

and that is coming from someone who bought it.

now, do i represent the majority of people who bought this car?
no.
( but judging how rare this one is on the battlefield across all brs… maybe. )

so any solution is fine by me.
but please. let just owner be able to change their skins or get rid of the palms one way or another. be it as a skin, toggle or even a new vehicle for TT.

after all, owners such as already got to use it by quite some time, and TT one wouldn’t have the benefits of the crew, spaded out vehicle and general premium bonuses. beside, i wouldn’t be opposed to get 2 M8 Greyhound to use.

The palm leaves definitely look weird outside of the pacific maps. Would be cool if all this were changed.

But even if this were changed, I’d never recommend anyone buy this. It basically has no armor, it has the stupid SAPHEI instead of HE, and it’s not even that fast.

For some details… the SAPHEI has maybe a 1 meter radius to kill infantry. Meaning it’s not very effective in that role. And on paper it is barely faster than Puma with a speed of 90.48 vs 89.89 km/h. However when testing, the reality is much different. Ran two different routes in the test range with each vehicle. (3 star Puma) The first variation starts at vehicle spawn, goes around concrete barrier, then straight East on the flat ground until the vehicle reaches out of bounds. The M8 did the flat route in roughly 1 minute 29 seconds. Puma, 1 minute 17 seconds. Now the second route starts like the first but goes to the right of the sandbag wall and runs parallel to them going East until out of bounds. Much rougher terrain… M8 finished in roughly 3 minutes 34 seconds while Puma was at 2 minutes 30 seconds. Now I understand those 2 initial number are just top speed but it is definitely a little misleading. On top of this, the M8 may not be able to tackle a 30 degree incline without already having a lot of speed.

Sorry to go off topic but just wanted to urge folks who may be considering a purchase of the M8 to save their money. This thing sucks y’all. It’s slow, struggles on any incline, is easily killed and its infantry killing potential is below average… and the leaves look goofy.

So yeah would much rather see it be given HE and see a rework of its engine power and or a general tire traction rework before seeing the cosmetic foliage adjusted. But it would be cool if they just changed all of it together.

Being dried up they do resemble the ones in Tunisia I think

Iirc didnt the palms fuck off when you add items to the vehicles due to the bush limit?

nope.

they stack on top of existing ones.

and you’re crazy if you think i should buy additional bushes to clean it up.

I’m pretty sure they already did that in the first BP of 2025, with the KTH and Super Pershing skins

and don’t forget this thing

These dont have any decorators. Only decals and new camo

That is an standalone vehicle and not a skin like the kv 1 zis 5

And so is the M8. Read the post carefully

no.

you’re the one who missed the point.

BP vehicles are just skins.
they don’t come with decorators.

the zis 5 KV 1 is first of it’s kind.

that’s a gold order vehicle.

gold order vehicles ( some ) comes already with decorations.

but, unlike the M8, this M2a4 ( and those other gold order vehicles ) already has a TT version which you can use instead if you do not want the decos or camos.

Your post suggests adding the option of removing decorators. This tank has a decorator. If I wish to keep the camo, but not see the palm branches, then what is the problem? I don’t see how I missed the point here.

i see your point.
and that’s a bit of a dilemma now that i come to think about it.

because i think ( personally ) the camouflage should stay with the bushes.

but if they can think of any other solution…

that would probably be best.

although, not sure about chances of that.
because we did asked in the past to do something about it, but nothing was done.
so with the zis 5 which are both incorporated onto the skin, i thought it was a good opportunity to replicate that onto the m8.

Pesonally, looking at the prices for decorators, I saw this more as an opportunity to take decorators off BP tanks and place them where I want as a F2P player. I do have quite a few, but keeping in mind that this will probably be hard, if not impossible, to replicate in-game I doubt that even your original suggestion will be accepted (

i also thought about doing that.

it would be ideal.

but the problem is, not all decorators from vehicles are available in the customization.

resulting in situations similar to the Halloween characters that if you were to take some of their unique clothing off and replace them with customization item, you would loose them entirely because those are not available in the customization.

the same goes with flags, bags, planks and many more decoration items.

Personally I hate the new BP vehicle skin system. I cant have the decorations I want as well as the camo I want (RIP old BP tanks that used to function that was as well). The BP vehicle skins should behave completely different to how regular camos work. Where they behave as an additional “layer” that still allows the camo if the tank to be customized, while preserving any decals and decorations of the BP skin. If it behaved like this I’d have no issue with the same mechanic being applied to the m8 greyhound and other similar vehicles. But as it stands now I don’t want the m8 being changed to a camo skin.
