I don’t know what it will counter or not…

But there’s no reason whatsoever that allies don’t have it. I hope it’s coming, with a very big ammo belt.

Most likely, it will be an analogue of the mg 34 with 75 rounds.

I don’t think so. It will probably be released with a 100 ammo belt, pretty standard… but: germans will probably also get either the 34 or the 42 with some ammo belt Or just the 34 with mickey mouse magazine like you said.

Well, I hope that for a change there will be some mg 42 for 75 rounds, and not mg 34.

I don’t think there will be 75 for the 42, will mostly be a 100 ammo belt

Only MG34 had 75 round magazine (patronentrommel). MG42 had 50 rounds metalic belts that can be linked → 100 rounds at least if not more.

I hope it will have 50 rounds. I would like to leave longer belts to introduce them via more interesting mehanics than “3 stars > 2 stars”.

It was one of the most commonly used belt lenghts so I’m not surprised. But I doubt devs will implement it, although I should expect everything at this point.

Tbh I would like this:

Normandy allies need a belt fed machine gun

In short: let us take ammo crate as an tiem / weapon attachment. With it you will be able to change from default 50 rounds to 100 or even 200 rounds belts during the battle. Downside is that you won’t be able to shoot at all unless bipoded.

Actually locking longer belts to the MG squad would be nice but I have different plans (not that they matter), mainly introducing GPMGs. More here:

Personally I would love to see GPMGs represented in the game. This is why I wrote this post, to show you how it worked and maybe together we will find good way to implement this. Reality General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) are meant to serve tactical roles of other specialised MGs. To ilustrate what does it mean I will use MG34 as an example, as it was one of the first mass produced GPMGs. LMG role; MG34 could be caried with 50 round ammo belt in the Gurttrommel magazine. Would be cool for defenders. Why cant they just let us pick the belt size with corresponding negatives for more ammo?

I think there will be no such mg in Berlin, the Soviet Union didn’t seem to have a belt machine gun.
