Alies BR 2

Is it worth taking the dedicated Radio Squad ? Or it is just better to add a Radioman on other squads for that artillery strike ?

Use the Arty squad to help level up your Radiomen.

Yep, you need to run a Radio squad for a bit to level up your radiomen to unlock pistol slot, backpack, and level them up. Same goes for the AT, MG, Flame, etc. Flame not applicable for BR2 though, unless you level it up without a flamethrower haha.

Which is exactly what Iā€™m doing with some of my flamer squads.

Just go to br 3 and put riffle grenade to speed it up

Is it better to just level the radiomen and drop the squad after and slot a radiomen into a different squad, or is it worth to keep the dedicated squad in the slots i have ?

I dont yet have proper BR III gear, as long as i dont have the Garand, Tommy Gun, Sherman & the Browning + a M9 Bazooka i wont go above BR II

Well, as far as I know, the standard TT radio squadā€™s main advantage is the cooldown for strikes is lower. The recent event radio squads have the option for rocket arty, but I found it quite lacking, to be honest.

Obviously itā€™s personal preference, but I tend to drop radio squads from the platoon once theyā€™re upgraded. Hopefully someone else here will provide some further advice or reasons why to keep them in your platoon.

Saddly my only event squad for now is that German MG39 one , havent played the game before it.

Yeah the reduced cooldown is allright, what i also like with the dedicated one is the smoke curtain ( works nice to blind greyzoner tanks) , but i am pretty limited for squads in the platoon. Only 3 Infantry and a Tank i can run, where engineer and assault are a mainstay. So i got this 3 spot to flex around between Radio or MG.

In that case, I would probably flip-flop between them, and figure out which one I prefer.

That said, the MG has more chance of getting battle pass quests (kill x soldiers with MG). Also, MGs are fun!

As @LokalHero stated, itā€™s really personal preference.

Iā€™ve gone back and forth on them. Sometimes, I canā€™t get an artillery shot off to save my life, and I just swap them out. But, recently, with the influx of a lot of new players, I often find Iā€™m the only one firing it.

And artillery can be a huge factor in clearing out a strategic point, particularly one ones like in Japan where there are quite a few that are out in the open (no warehouses, factories, brick buildings, etc). They can still be effective in a lot of German maps, but itā€™s a lot of luck and timing.

I find them particularly useful when trying to get the last few ticks of a point capped, where clearing out the defenders and then rushing with a large squad can make the difference on the capture.

As for leveling them up, Iā€™ve done both. Right now with Germany and Japan, I havenā€™t bothered and just go with whatever radio guy is there. I also have some of the event units that @LokalHero mentioned and have had similar experiences. The rockets CAN take out a tankā€¦Iā€™ve done it once or twice, and had it done TO me about a half a dozen times. Course, the unit also has sniper rifles (in the case of the Russians) and an engineer so itā€™s got a lot of utility.

If you like to be aggressive/assault/attempt to take the point/win - then having a radio squad when you only have four slots for squads is probably not a good idea. As I mentioned in another post, a fast way to level it up a squad, if you go that route, is to ensure you have an engineer in the squad. Itā€™s kind of symbiotic, particularly on defense, as you can scramble around and build defenses and rallies while youā€™re waiting for the timer on your artillery to come back around.

Right now im a bit mixed on the Allied MG squad, in Germany it is clear that i want to have Engi, Assault & MG squad as my setup. But the Brens are a bit underwhelming compared to the German MGs, but on the other hand the M1s are quite viable BR II semi-auto Rifles, so even with those i can play quite agressive if needed.

But also i feel like the barrage seem to be more usefull on a SMG heavy squad than on a regular infantry style one like the radio, as i mostly use the barrage to clear/stunt enemies on a point which after i rush in to cleanup while they are dazed, or for zoning out an aproach line where the enemy can rush the objective area.

This rocket one seems interesting as it might also offer some new strategies like the smoke barrage one, so i hope that squad will re-apear sometime.

Does the Radio Squads perk only effect the calltime of that specific squad or, it shortens the recharge for the radioman in my assault squad too ?

Radio squad only. Radiomen in other squads donā€™t get the cooldown buff.

Than i guess i will swap them out once the upgrades are done.

And lets hope we get an event radio squad with SMGs

Thatā€™s valid. I agree, I love the M1 and have been quite effective with it. I also like the Bren (Mk II) once itā€™s fully upgraded - even more so than the German MGs, probably b/c the early German MGs often have wildly unhelpful sights and other design issues (like the double drums blocking your view, etc).

Also, itā€™s not really obvious, but you can actually get up to the Bren MK II and still remain in BR2. (There are a few anomalies like that on the tech tree - always check each individual descriptionā€¦) And I like the leveled up Bren Mk II a lot. (Another example is on the German tree how the VG.2 is actually BR2ā€¦the MP 40 is BR2?!! Damn thing is brutal.)

Lots of decent low-BR German kit.

For example, the Vz.24 is a BRI bolt action with insane stopping power when upgraded. Only the open sights let it down slightly, but that just takes a little practice to overcome. I fecking love that rifle.

Yeah i know that part, on my Engineers im running the Lee Enfield No.4s, and also run MP-38 on my German teams a lot

I havent tried the Bren II yet only the base 2 MG, but the recoils are pretty huge on that thing compared to the German BR 2 ones.

Can the Radioman squad II field a medic and an Assaulter in its rooster ? Cause maybe with that and a bunch of M1s it can be nice to drop barrages and rush in after that ā€¦ unless some genius blocks the barage with the useless and very long bomber call.

One of my pet peeves! Basically, all those things do is feed points to the other sideā€™s planes and protect the other side for about 5 minutes of artillery.
