Airplanes

I have tier 4 planes. No matter what I do, I always, not 90% of the time, not 99% of the time, but 100% of the time, an enemy plane gets behind me without me ever seeing the GD thing. How? What am I doing wrong? I don’t fly in a straight line. I choose different altitudes. Doesn’t matter. I can be 9.5M fing miles from the battle and somehow there is an enemy plane that appears 6 inches behind me and shoots me down. I am ranked General of the Army in the game. I can dominate with every f’ing soldier, gun, tank etc. but the f’ing planes I can’t figure out. Seriously, it is 100% of the time, I make one bombing/missile run and there is an enemy plane 4 inches behind me. They don’t even have to shoot me down, they can literally reach out of their plane and push me to the ground.
I look around using “C”. I look up down, sideways, into the future, into the past, through wormholes into other GD dimensions and I NEVER see another plane until I am being shot down.

My tail gunners are about as worthless as liberals and do about as much good. I am looking for tips as to how I NEVER see another plane until I am being shot down. ALWAYS. This is more frustrating then wearing the sand paper underwear my wife makes me wear when I misbehave. I honestly am about to give up on this game due to the f’ing planes.

The tip I can give is know where enemy plane spawns are, the spawn height can vary on maps, but listen out when you hear another plane, check if friendly by looking at scoreboard.

Fly high, don’t fly low if possible, alot of players fly around 500 ALT, easy to see and get behind.

Finally always check your 6! Some planes easier to look back. Sounds like you use attackers, so change to rear gunner on way back to rearm if not a fighter.

Good luck soldier

The most important things (for me) are:

  • know where the enemy spawn is
  • know where the enemy resupply point is
  • monitor the killfeed for enemy kills with planes
  • never stop paying attention/looking around

Being aware of the situation is the most important.
There is not much real dogfighting in this game.
You need to be the one who sees the enemy first and get behind him first, or else you’re probably dead.

If you need some inspiration, I make videos of plane gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/@____WARHEAD____
You will see that even a noob like me can do it, so can you!

Don’t forget about +50% enemy aircraft detection range perk for your pilot. The rest is mostly skill issue. I’m not a bad pilot but there are people who easily defeat me in 9/10 air fights. In this case make sure you have engineer or some other premium squad with AA gun to take your revenge on the fcker

My favourite tactic to hunt down enemy aircraft is flying very close to the ground and never fly above the objectives for too long.
Easiest way to get behind enemy aircraft.

Hehe footsoldier skills dont translate into flying well at all.

Practice mate, you will find your stride. Sounds like you might be facing some vets, they will make it hurt for a bit.

1: If you listen, you will hear when you are not alone

2: always locate the exact direction enemy planes spawn for the match. After you have done that dont fly with your back to that position

3: 90% of pilots will fly straight from spawn to objective. Dont do the same, Come from the side

4: watch kill feed and scored board, will let you know whats around

Love flying in enlisted! (It does need work though)

From the sound of it, you fly usa attacker planes. When flying those, players have a tendency to boom in a straight line towards the objective to rain rockets and earn easy kills.

Those are the easiest plane targets, by far. Remember shooting rockets make you extremely visible to enemy fighters.

Also, because of the “boom” behavior I spoke of, most attacker players don’t really take up altitude… but know this:

  • your enemy pilots in fighter planes… well they are already ABOVE you. They have a lot of accumulated energy and only bide their time to spot you and take you out efficiently.

It’s a piece of cake after that to get on your 6.

Most of the ones that get me come up from just under where I can’t shoot him with my rear gun. NTM that the little aiming circle is not white all the time, and the darker ones blend in with the ground so I can’t see if I am on target or not. If I can see the target good, I can usually score some good shots on him so even if he gets me, he is damaged an about half the time I get the delayed kill. I didn’t used to, but now after I make my turn to reload I always switch to my rear gunner and stay with him till I am almost at the reload site.

That’s just a coincidence but yes happens a lot.
Mostly you fly to bomb near the target or something. Then you turn and go back. In the meantime, it’s possible that an enemy aircraft spawns and sees you right in front of him. What I do to avoid that (no safe guarantee) is to fly left or right of the target, turn and see what happens in the skies. Many matches I was able to get right behind one as a lot of pilots in enlisted only focus on bombing quickly the cap.
Regardless of that, yes I would love to have AA tanks at least a feature, spotting enemy aircrafts which detects then for a couple of seconds just like a tank, plus a voice code for “Enemy fighter plane detected, altitude 600m”

pretty soon they will be 0 inches behind you

I make sure all my tail gunners are staunch agrarians, it seems to help

be unpredictable in your flight paths, also make sure to get the aircraft detection perk on every pilot

Try a higher grit product, I’d say 240 or above for maximum comfort.
A more permanent solution would be to divorce the wife and marry a carpenter, then it will never be an issue

Thank you very much, Warhead! I appreciate the help.

I usually get behind enemy planes using higher altitude. If an enemy plane is behind me i usually pull up slowing my aircraft down for them to speed past me and get behind them with a dive. Its the altitude and it also depends what aircraft you are using. I use aircrafts with rear gunners. I usually hear other planes pass me or near me so i check my surroundings. You will get the hang of it the ariel combat is very good. Dont give up yet.

The prior comments are pretty spot on but I have some additions.

So here’s an early game tip that may help you initially get a step. If waiting for the first air spawn, check the score board for non-highlighted names. For instance, your tag will be greyed out as you have not spawned as will opponents who are also waiting. When finally spawned, check the scoreboard again to see if suspected priorly greyed out tags are now highlighted. If they are, you more than likely have bogies to immediately deal with.

Another tip is to use caution when strafing. Your tracers are easily seen even from beyond the enemy resupply points. (They may be visible even from the map border) Rockets are also a dead give away from a vast distance. Side note when it comes to bombing. Strafing a tank will encourage a smart player to go mobile so it really should never be done in tandem with bombing armored enemies. So since strafing will give you away so easily, it is best to generally save your bullets for air targets only.

Also remember, when in a match where the air is contested throughout, any attempt to deliver your payload may be a death sentence. Do so cautiously or not at all. The average player has tunnel vision fixated on the main objective and may easily spot you without much effort. Clear the skies before dealing with the ground.

And for another point, be wary to not always head straight to your ammo point after suspended armament kills or after air to air kills. Generally, when freshly spawned enemy air is looking for you in hopes of revenge, they will first look towards the enemy resupply. Instead choose a direction away from that point, kill your engine(s) and glide straight (sharp turning silhouettes are much easier to spot) while either trying to appear above the horizon or below it. Your aircrafts livery will dictate this choice. Hopefully you can remain unseen long enough to spot your adversary first and stay hidden until the angle of attack is in your favor. Or hopefully you can just stay hidden long enough to safely get more ammo. Hiding instead of immediately returning to your resupply may be of critical importance when dealing with a player with multiple aircraft slots as you know he is looking for you and his fresh air spawn may leave you at a distinct disadvantage.

So I guess a key takeaway is knowing that spotting your opponents first is often paramount to survival with patience being crucial in achieving this while also understanding how refraining from certain actions will assist in you getting eyes on first.

Anyways, many variables here and sometimes we are just unlucky. Hopefully some of this helps though. Good luck out there.

Best guide so far.
Do you also have tips to flying aircraft with trash turn rate?

Well i’ve Saw Lot of guides below but im gonna to give You an extra tip

If You find an enemy AA gun try to fly as down as possible (Even if that means that is highly possible You Will find some trees that Will annoy You)

And if You are going to bomb to the same stay close to the trees and bomb then if any building is on your way avoid it but quickly go back to the trees altitude

After being as far 1100 meters from the cap point You can take as much altitude You want cuz AA Will not be able to shoot

Try to avoid Any engament flying as high as possible 1000-2000 meters if i’m not wrong You can also turn off the engines of your plane if You are going to bomb and dive to the obejctive and just turn them on again once You think that You Will crash and take some altitude

Also stay as down possible to avoid AA or any plane trying to detect You then fly like 2000 meters away on any direction except the plane Spawn ( ally and enemy one) reload and repeat

I was hoping for some dogfight tips actually, especially for FW-190 D-12. Getting into a turn dogfight with D-12 is a death sentence.

Ohhh well those planes are interceptors first don’t try to dogfigths cuz those planes suck at it, if You are going to attack a plane You need to be fast, lets Say You see a plane that is below You and it havent noticed about You yet so You dive and get behind of it and kill it or just damaging it as much You can then take altitude (1000 meters and) look for more planes or if a plane survives to your first attack repeat once again the same the same process

Basically boom and zoom

With plane with bad turn, Just fly at high altitude your plane marker would be invisible to enemy plane and keep scan the battlefield, once you find your prey wait it turns towards their team rearm zone and dive toward it, get the kill, fly again where you was for repeat the process, you need the high ground

Doesnt that make you easy to spot?
The sky is always clear and blue making it very easy to spot enemy aircraft even at high altitudes.
Plus you can’t zoom and boom if you are caught in low altitudes which will happen since D-12 is an attacker and its main role is CAS.

My go to tactic actually is trying to roll around to burn energy thus forcing the enemy to overshoot or pulling up since D-12 has good climb rate.
But neither are realible enough when Im fighting someone with experience and good turn rate.
