i would prefere to flie low with every aircraft ingame. and with low i mean like 20 up to 40 meters over the ground ( if you are a fighter aircraft ore if you want to kill only planes ). its more save and you can flie under the enemy airspawn and kill them with eaze. maybe thats the way he gets killed. also you can see every incoming aircraft whwn you flie low. if you flie high you cannot see plane under you and they kill you before you could even reackt. as a bomber i wouldnt flie over 600 meters so that you have a chance to flie low and let the enemy flie into a tree. also if you flie low the enemy also cannot manover as that hard if he issent at that well skilled because if he turnes to fast he crashes in the ground ore in a tree. but thats only how i ( would ) do it and it is realy hard to learn to flie big planes low.
Same, its very hard to spot low flying enemy aircraft.
he has to roll but also to tearn left and right if he wants te outmanouver th bullet. that can be realy hard and if his plane isent as that manouverebel ore if it is realy big like the ju188 he has a hard time with roaling.
As far I saw, people don’t look up so it’s fine, I always do it using US plane and no one spot me
it isnt hard to spott low fliing aircrafts if you know what to do but that needs time. its harder to fight them because you cannot come from abouth because you would crash in the ground. but yes low fliing planes are harder to spot then higt fliing plane and the most peopel dont expact peopel to flie as taht low.
Worth a shot I suppose.
then you never played against me. i alwais look up and i now a lot of other players witch do the same. so
you were realy lucky untill now.
Dude isn’t rocket science, raise up to 2000m at your ream zone keep circle outside the combat area, press C to look around once you see the enemy plane, dive and kill it, retreat, repeat
Also flying low with a plane like the FW who is a high altitude interceptor in Cas a role, is asking to get killed
when you flie at 2000 meters you need a lot of time to climbe as that high and the anemy AA can see you when you climb and you get shot down imeadeatly
No AA can kill you at your spawn or rearm zone it’s to distant to even spot the dot of your plane on the screen, also rendering distances make every high altitude plane complete invisible at that height, while the player can just scan the battlefield with the kill feed or looking down with C by rolling the plane completely unbothered
I always find when my aircraft flys over 1,100 meters its haptics go all strange its like my plane needs to be below that level
No.
Usually, enemy pilots in Enlisted… never look up. They’re always focused on the ground where the cap is.
Which is why if I’m above 1.5km high, often I see p38 and p47 (the rocket boats) just passing right underneath, ignoring me…
Then I just dive like a hawk.
Know this: p38 or p47 speed (or any fast plane) won’t matter if you dive. This accumulated energy is so high you’ll end up being faster.
…
For those thinking flying low at all time is a good idea:
Don’t. It’s really a terrible way to fly.
Where is your energy? How will you evade a pursuer? You won’t have enough energy to climb fast. You won’t be able to dive either since you’re close to the ground… a low flying plane, is a prey. A high flying one, a predator.
You are certainly right about turn fighting being a death sentence, more often than not.
The D-12 absolutely favors the vertical as do all FW variants, but this is still not a get out of jail free card. Gastonofrizzi is right is in suggesting a high altitude approach. (I personally hang out at around 1200 to 1500 ALT) And when done out of a dive, all FWs are actually very competitive in a turn fight but just for a short time. While this is true for pretty much all aircraft, the gains seem to be exponentially so for the FWs. In any case, you’ll maybe have one really good full turn before your energy is depleted. Meaning you really only have one chance to score the kill or else become a sitting duck. If you miss and still have the speed, try to go vertical. Or if you are in his blind spot, killing your engine and trying to break off and ghost may work. It should be noted that going vertical should be done with care. If you are lacking in speed, you are an easy kill at the top of the loop. But yeah generally speaking, it is a very unforgiving aircraft if you miss your shot.
One thing I will outright say about the D-12, do not use the Gold order variant. As this plane favors high altitude, your red belly will easily give you away. The tech tree paint scheme may actually be the best in the game as it does not stand out too much in a blue sky or when contrasted against all earthly biomes.
Also, when you know you are about to attack an opponent who could easily outturn you, (which is most planes for the D-12) it is almost always beneficial to drop your bombs. Suspended armaments slow all aircraft down a lot. Having no bombs may buy you an extra few seconds in the turn or even more in a climb. This is a good rule for all aircraft but it is especially crucial for the D-12. As mentioned above, you may only get one good chance so increasing that window for the kill by even a single second is needed. If you start doing this you will notice how some opponents who should smoke you, become easy targets because of the extra weight they are carrying. As mentioned, for all aircraft of every nation it is often a good idea to release your bombs/rockets when dogfighting. You can always rearm if you survive.
So one advantage the FWs have is their high roll rate. In a full turn, D-12 loses against most opponents. But by preforming short turns you may be able to buy yourself some time or even wiggle away from some aircraft. For instance, if a p-38 is giving chase in a turn, when he almost has guns on, roll to the opposite direction then continue in that direction for a bit. Rinse and repeat. In the case with the P-38, the roll rate is so much slower that by the time it is corrected to your new heading, you could already be reversing the heading again. It should be noted that the reverse should be done after your chaser is fully committed to your new heading. Doing it too soon will save him time. But definitely no guarantees here as you chaser will almost certainly get accurate shots on you as you cross his nose. (Stupid lead indicator!) But still, you have a better chance at survival than just maintaining a single suicidal turn.
Also I’m not sure how much time flaps will buy you but using them certainly won’t hurt. The FWs don’t have “combat” flaps but the next one under, “takeoff” will work. For whatever reason these flaps are the best in the game. Been a while since I tested but I think they can withstand speeds of 600 TAS plus before breaking while pretty much everything else is below 300. (Rough guesses btw)
The last thing I know of but have not legitimately pulled off outside of the practice range is the Hartmann maneuver. You essentially induce a flat tail spin in hopes of recovering behind your enemy. Its hard to pull off for most aircraft but it seems to be a feature with the 190s. So with only limited practice, could pull it off somewhat easily with all the 190s, and decently with the Mosquito and the P-63. With everything else I tried, could not get it to work so maybe just more effort is required. But yeah in theory it’s a solid tactic but seems very situational. Maybe only if your chaser is right on your tail. With a large gap, a flailing aircraft may be an easy kill. (Tried only once in game and was easily shot up because of this gap)
The Dora 12 is definitely a hard plane to use and some other birds will just flat out eat you for lunch. La-7 and Tempest for example. A light P-47 will smoke you too. Anyways, hope this gives you something new to consider.
100% true.
But.
I keep it in my current lineup all the same! So the ground may see that scarlet cross of death plunging on them, with a rather lethal payload! (If the plane doesn’t sligh left or right for no reason eheh)
It’s just a beautiful skin.
…
But honestly @TACTIGUHL is right. If you want to put all chances in your bag… don’t use it. I do, just because I’m cocky and think it’s beautiful.
you can get away with alot of things in Enlisted due to the “arena” nature of Enlisted, and Most players tunnel vision CAS.
But as @gastanofrizzi said: the General rule (especially for 190s) is you want the high ground. It gives you choices you just don’t have flying low.
